Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia has a variety of ethnicities and cultural values that shape people’s behavior in everyday life. Family resilience is one of these factors. This research aimed to examine the differences among three distinct ethnic groups in relation to key family resilience components (family belief systems, family organizational structures, and family communication patterns). A total of 672 married participants aged 19 to 65 years (Mage = 42.07, SD = 9.720) reported their family resilience using the Indonesian version of the Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and ANOVA. The results revealed that in terms of the family belief system, Javanese people are significantly different from Minangnese and Bataknese people and are the most prevalent; in terms of the family organizational structure, only Minangnese and Bataknese people are significantly different, whereas Minangnese people are most prevalent; and in terms of family communication patterns, Javanese people are significantly very different from the others and are the most prevalent. Overall, family resilience is only significantly different for Javanese and Bataknese people, where Bataknese people have the highest level of family resilience.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional phase characterized by high emotional fluctuations due to social dynamics and academic pressures. Problems such as student difficulty managing emotions and poor communication skills, which can lead to conflict, were identified at a partner school, Khadijah High School in Surabaya. This Community Service program aims to equip students with the skills to regulate emotions and resolve peer conflicts to foster healthy friendships. The training program involved 30 students. The training covered two main aspects: healthy emotional regulation and solution-oriented conflict management techniques. Evaluation of the training program was conducted by comparing participants' understanding before and after the program using pre- and post-tests. The results showed an increase in students' understanding of emotional management and adaptive conflict management strategies for applying in friendships. Students are expected to better recognize emotional triggers and choose wise responses when facing differences of opinion with friends. Abstract

Teachers’ quality of work life (QWL) plays a significant role in sustaining instructional effectiveness, particularly in international school settings characterized by multicultural dynamics and complex institutional demands. This study explored teachers’ perceptions of quality of work life following the implementation of a job crafting training program at Sekolah Indonesia Johor Bahru (SIJB), Malaysia. The intervention was conducted using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 24 teachers and implemented through iterative cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, reflective worksheets, and group discussions, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed patterns consistent with the dimensions of task, relational, and cognitive crafting. Teachers described shifts toward more intentional instructional adaptation, enhanced professional collaboration, and a reframing of work meaning and professional identity. These perceived changes suggest that job crafting functioned as a reflective framework enabling teachers to reinterpret and reorganize existing responsibilities within a multicultural educational environment. The participatory structure of the intervention appeared to strengthen teachers’ sense of agency and contextual relevance. However, the findings reflect short-term interpretive experiences and do not establish long-term behavioral sustainability. This study contributes contextually grounded insights into how job crafting, when embedded within a participatory framework, may support teachers’ perceived quality of work life in international school contexts.

Abstract

The emergence of the “Marriage is Scary” narrative among Generation Z reflects changing perspectives on marriage in the digital era. This study aims to explore how Generation Z interprets their fear of marriage and the social experiences that shape these perceptions. This research used a qualitative phenomenological approach involving five Generation Z participants aged 18–21 years selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings identified five main themes: fear of marital risks, doubts and unpreparedness for marriage, concerns about relationship quality, the influence of social environment and patriarchal culture, and the impact of social media. These findings indicate that fear of marriage among Generation Z is shaped by personal experiences, social observations, and digital narratives.
