Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses dan hakikat pembelajaran matematika bagi mahasiswa pendidikan matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus campuran dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Matematika di IKIP Gunungsitoli yang mengalami kesulitan belajar matematika pada mata kuliah Aljabar Elementer. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes diagnostik dan pedoman wawancara. Letak kesulitan matematika di lihat berdasarkan kesulitan mahasiswa menyelesaikan tes diagnostik. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi mahasiswa untuk belajar matematika didasarkan pada pemahaman mereka tentang pengetahuan faktual sebesar 12,2%, pengetahuan konseptual sebesar 19,7%, pengetahuan prosedural sebesar 20,7%, dan pengetahuan metakognitif sebesar 47,4%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between students' attitudes towards mathematics learning and mathematical communication skills of 8th grade students of SMPN 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi. This type of research is quantitative research with an associative approach that aims to determine the relationship between two or more variables. The number of informants from this study was 186 students. Data collection techniques through student attitude questionnaire, and written test of mathematical communication ability. Based on this research, the results of hypothesis testing obtained thitung = 3.969 and ttabel 1.653. Because the hypothesis tcount = 3.969> ttable 1.653 then H0 is rejected H1 is accepted which means "There is a relationship between student attitudes on mathematics learning towards students' mathematical communication skills this shows that there is a significant relationship between the attitudes of students in class VIII SMPN 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi". So it can be concluded that students' attitudes towards learning mathematics have a relationship to students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the observations of researchers at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi, which is still found that students do not like to study mathematics, sometimes this lesson is a difficult lesson both in material and in learning so that it causes the level of critical thinking of students in solving math problems is still lacking. This study aims to describe the level of critical thinking skills of students, especially class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi, using descriptive qualitative research methods: research that describes variables as they are supported by data generated from actual circumstances. Based on the research results, the average level of students' critical thinking is 47.39 with the average acquisition of students' critical thinking skills based on indicators obtained: Interpretation indicators (60.58), Analysis indicators (55.29), Evaluation indicators (35.58), and Inference indicators (53.85). Thus, based on the average value of students' critical thinking skills, it is obtained that the level of critical thinking of students is still low. Critical thinking is not easy, but critical thinking skills can be learned and trained.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli Alo’oa yang masih berada pada kategori cukup, kurangnya penerapan etnomatematika, gaya belajar yang monoton, serta keterbatasan bahan ajar interaktif. Sebagai solusi, dikembangkan modul pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan integrasi unsur budaya Nias pada materi segitiga dan segi empat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE yang mencakup tahap analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Uji coba dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Idanoi dengan instrumen berupa tes hasil belajar, angket validasi ahli materi, bahasa, dan media, serta angket respon guru dan siswa. Data penelitian terdiri atas data kualitatif berupa saran dan komentar, serta data kuantitatif yang diperoleh dari hasil angket dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis (kepraktisan siswa 95,56% dan guru 96,67%), dan efektif dengan rata-rata hasil belajar 86,48 serta ketuntasan klasikal di atas 60%. Dengan demikian, modul pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika ini layak digunakan sebagai alternatif bahan ajar untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Mathematical concept understanding is an essential ability that students must master in mathematics learning to enable them to comprehend and apply mathematical ideas effectively. However, in reality, many students experience difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts due to low learning motivation, which ultimately affects their learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the relationship between learning motivation and mathematical concept understanding among Grade XII students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 90 Grade XII students, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling from class XII IPA-1. The research instruments included a learning motivation questionnaire and a mathematical concept understanding test, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques involved normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing using the Product Moment correlation method. The results showed that students’ learning motivation was categorized as high, with a percentage of 78.79%. Meanwhile, students’ mathematical concept understanding was mostly in the good and very good categories, with percentages of 51.52% and 27.27%, respectively. The hypothesis test indicated that the calculated t value (4.354) was greater than the t table value (2.040) at the 5% significance level. The correlation coefficient obtained was r = 0.616, with a coefficient of determination of 37.94%. These findings indicate that learning motivation is not the sole factor influencing students’ mathematical concept understanding; other internal and external factors also contribute.

Abstract

This study addresses the limited use of technology-based instructional media and insufficient instructional time in mathematics learning. It aims to develop and evaluate Wordwall-based learning media in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ learning interest and achievement. The study employed a Research and Development design using the ADDIE model up to the evaluation stage. Participants included 32 eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 3 Huruna and one mathematics teacher. Data were collected through expert validation involving three validators, student and teacher response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. Data analysis combined descriptive qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis using percentage scores and pretest–posttest comparisons. The findings indicate that the developed media is valid in terms of content, language, and visual design; highly practical, as reflected by positive responses from more than 90 percent of students and teachers; and effective in improving learning interest, with an average increase of 25 percent, as well as learning outcomes, with an N-gain of 0.62 in the medium–high category. The novelty of this study lies in positioning Wordwall not merely as a gamification tool, but as an interactive learning medium systematically integrated within the ADDIE instructional design framework for mathematics learning. Theoretically, this study strengthens evidence on the role of gamification within instructional design. Practically, it offers teachers a viable strategy to address time constraints while enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Merdeka Curriculum promotes differentiated learning as a key strategy to address students’ diverse learning needs. However, a preliminary study at SMA Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli indicates that this approach has not been implemented consistently in mathematics classrooms. This study aims to describe how mathematics teachers apply differentiated learning and to analyze the difficulties they face and the factors influencing these difficulties within the Independent Curriculum. This study employed a qualitative descriptive design. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving five mathematics teachers. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers have begun to implement differentiation in content, process, and product. However, the implementation remains limited. Major difficulties include time management constraints, diverse student learning characteristics, and challenges in conducting initial diagnostic assessments. Contributing factors include limited facilities, insufficient teacher readiness, and a lack of structured professional training. These findings indicate that differentiated learning in mathematics is still at an early stage of implementation and requires systematic institutional support. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting context-specific challenges faced by mathematics teachers under the Independent Curriculum and provides practical implications for schools and policymakers in designing targeted professional development programs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan dari hasil studi pendahuluan yang dilakukan peneliti di SMP Negeri 1 O’ou, ditemukan beberapa masalah yaitu (1) kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa masih kategori rendah, dan (2) poses pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Inquiry terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa SMP Negeri 1 O’ou. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX dan sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu IX-1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan IX-2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan sampel total. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis berbentuk uraian. Tes yang digunakan adalah tes awal (pretest) dan tes akhir (posttest). Rata-rata perolehan tes awal kelas eksperimen adalah 32,09 dan kelas kontrol adalah 23,95, sedangkan rata-rata perolehan tes akhir kelas eksperimen adalah 62,09 dan kelas kontrol adalah 29,22. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rata-rata pada tes akhir setelah diberikan perlakuan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis diperoleh nilai thitung = 15,67 dan ttabel = 1,695. Karena thitung = 15,67 > ttabel = 1,695, maka H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh model pembelajaran Inquiry terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi awal di UPTD SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli dan diperoleh hasil bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar matematika siswa masih belum mencapai nilai Kriteria Ketercapaian Tujuan Pembelajaran (KKTP) yang ditentukan dan sumber belajar yang digunakan masih terbatas. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran matematika berbasis Kearifan Lokal untuk siswa SMP. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Subjek penelitian terdiri dari siswa kelas IX dan guru matematika. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi angket validasi ahli materi, ahli media, dan ahli bahasa, angket respon siswa dan guru, serta tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat valid oleh ahli materi (97% dan 96%), ahli bahasa (95%), dan ahli desain (97%). Media juga dinyatakan sangat praktis berdasarkan respon siswa pada uji perorangan (89%), uji kelompok kecil (81%), uji lapangan (90%), serta respon guru (96%). Dari segi keefektifan, modul mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 69% (kategori efektif) dan nilai rata-rata 76,03 (kategori tinggi). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah modul pembelajaran matematika berbasis kearifan lokal valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa. Disarankan agar guru memanfaatkan modul ini dalam pembelajaran dan peneliti selanjutnya dapat mengembangkan modul serupa untuk materi yang lebih luas

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh temuan awal di SMP Negeri 1 Alasa yang menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar matematika siswa masih rendah akibat penggunaan model pembelajaran yang cenderung konvensional. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Collaborative learning terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan desain non-equivalent control group. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran Collaborative learning, sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah hasil belajar matematika siswa. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Alasa, dengan sampel dua kelas berjumlah 56 siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes uraian hasil belajar matematika. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis satu pihak, diperoleh thitung = 4,93 > ttabel = 1,67 sehingga maka tolak Ho di terima Ha yang berarti ada pengaruh model pembelajaran collaborative learning terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa.
