Abstract

This study investigates community participation concerning the potential and benefits of the Muaro Jambi Temple tourism area, identifying key success factors in community-based tourism (CBT). Employing Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) analysis on primary data, this research combines descriptive and quantitative approaches. The findings reveal that variables related to interest, opportunity, and innovation significantly and directly impact economic conditions, while environmental factors notably influence social conditions. In contrast, cultural and political variables do not significantly affect social conditions. Both economic and social factors significantly influence CBT participation. Indirect effects analysis shows that interest, opportunity, innovation, and environmental factors significantly influence CBT participation, whereas cultural and political variables do not exhibit significant indirect effects. Moreover, over 95% of the communities in the villages surrounding Muaro Jambi Temple perceive the basic principles of CBT positively, with 85% recognizing the potential and benefits of supporting the CBT model. These results underscore the importance of fostering interest, opportunity, and innovation to enhance economic conditions and community participation in CBT initiatives.

Abstract

The Regional Water Supply Company (in Indonesian it is called PERUMDAM) is a Regional Owned Enterprise or also known as BUMD, tasked with serving the community by providing clean water for both household and industrial consumption and seeking business profits. In reality, PERUMDAM still suffers losses in financial management despite its dual mandate. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors causing PERUMDAM's losses and formulate policies that can improve PERUMDAM's financial health through financial management in the province of Jambi. The analysis used is a panel data regression model and an in-depth panel data analysis model. The results of the study show that the variables of production cost, production efficiency, customer growth, and tariff fulfillment percentage are variables that significantly affect PERUMDAM losses and are priorities for policy formulation to improve PERUMDAM. Meanwhile, the variables of water loss and water meter replacement are variables that do not significantly affect PERUMDAM losses in districts/cities in Jambi Province. Policy instruments for addressing PERUMDAM losses can be implemented through three priority variables: reducing production cost, improving production efficiency, and increasing customer growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the farming conditions and value chain of pineapple commodities in Bangkit Baru Village. The focus of this research includes farmer characteristics, production patterns, distribution channels, and strategies to improve the competitiveness of pineapple commodities through the value chain approach and SWOT analysis. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation involving farmers, collectors, and marketing actors. The results of the study show that most pineapple farmers in Bangkit Baru Village are male, with the majority having a senior high school (SMA) educational background. Land ownership and production outputs are fully privately owned, and farming management systems are still simple and largely depend on family labor. The average farming experience ranges from 10 to 20 years, with the dominant land area owned being 1 hectare. Production costs range from Rp1.000.000 to Rp5,000.000 per planting season, while the selling price of pineapple ranges from Rp3.500 to Rp5.000 per kilogram. The pineapple value chain shows a relatively stable marketing pattern, with established relationships between farmers, collectors, traders in local and external markets, and final consumers. However, product improvement strategies are still considered less aggressive, as there are several weaknesses that may become threats, such as rat pests and unpredictable weather conditions that hinder the production process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of capital, working hours, labor, and type of merchandise on the income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Taman Sanggar Batik area of Jambi City. This research employs a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The type of merchandise is categorized into batik and non-batik using a dummy variable. The data were collected from 42 MSME respondents through questionnaires and direct interviews. The results show that most MSME owners are male, have a senior high school education background, and are in the productive age group of 36–45 years, with an average age of 41.50 years. The average number of dependents is 2 persons. Most MSMEs operate for 7–8 hours per day, with an average working time of 7.98 hours, employ a relatively small number of workers with an average of 2 persons, and have an average business capital of Rp5,226,190. The average MSME income is Rp2,202,381 per month. Although the number of batik and non-batik MSMEs is equal, batik MSMEs earn a higher average income. The regression analysis indicates that capital and type of merchandise have a significant effect on MSME income. Meanwhile, working hours have no significant effect on income, and labor has an effect but is not statistically significant. These findings suggest that capital and type of merchandise are the main factors influencing MSME income in the Taman Sanggar Batik area of Jambi City.
