Abstract

Observation on Mercury Concentration in Kao Bay (Halmahera) and Anggai Waters (Obi Island), North of Maluku. Observation on merkuri concentration in territorial waters of Kao Bay and Anggai have been done in January 2005. The result showed that mercury concentration in seawater and sediment in territorial waters of Kao Bay and Anggai waters still lower and still in line with peaceful threshold value for waters biota life. This data indicate that waste of mercury coming from activity of gold mining by PT Nusa Halmahera Raya (NHR) and illegal gold mining by society not yet polluted both of that waters.

Abstract

Effect of Heavy Metals Pollution to Seawater Quality and Fishery Resources (Case Study on Fish Death in Jakarta Bay). Observation on heavy metals content in sea water were carried out in Jakarta Bay waters in May 2004. Heavy metals observed were Hg, Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn and Ni. This observation is conducted with fishes total death in this waters. Observation is done in Ancol beach 1 (3 stations), Ancol beach 2 (4 stations), Cilincing (3 stations), and Dadap River estuary (4 Station). The results showed that the average concentration of Hg, Cd and Cu in Ancol beach 1 were

Abstract

Total Suspended Solid Content in Raha Waters, Northeast of Celebes. Measurement on Total Suspended Solid (TSS) in Raha waters were carried out in May 2001. The results showed that the content of total suspended solid varied between 74,8 – 78,9 ppm with averages content is 76,5 ppm. This content is still suited to the threshold value stated by government decree in 1988 for fishery and sea conservation park, but not suitable for recreation (swimming, diving activity).

Abstract

Heavy Metals Content Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn And Ni In Sea Water And Sediment In Membramo Estuary And Its Relationship With Fishery Cultivation. Obervation on heavy metals Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn and Ni content in Jakarta Bay were carried out in August 2003. The results showed that the Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, and Ni content still in line with threshold value stated by for fisheries. By the all, in sea water Zn content is higher compared to the others, while in sediment Ni is higher. This data showed the result show that on waters of Membramo River Zn and Ni waste than others elements.

Abstract

The Influence of Season to Nitrate and Phosphate Content Eutrophication in Banda Sea. Observation on phosphate and nitrate nutrient content were carried out in May, August, November, 1996 and February 1997 in Banda Sea. The results showed the averages content of phosphate and nitrate in August is higher compared to May, November and February. Phosphate content in August 1.492 mg.at/l, while in May, November and February are 1.025 mg.at/l, 0.878 mg.at/l and 0.766 mg.at/l. Nitrate content in August is 1.932 mg.at/l, while in May, November and February are 0.975 mg.at/l, 0.804 mg.at/l and 0.670 mg.at/l respectively. This result fixed with statistical Analysis (Randomized Block Anova) (Fh > F t 1%). This condition is caused by upwelling process in Banda Sea at that time.

Abstract

Monitoring On Hydrology Condition In Raha Waters Muna Island and Its Relation to Coral Reef Condition. Monitoring on hydrology condition in Raha waters Muna Island, Southeast of Sulawesi were carried out on May and June 2001. The results showed that the temperature vary between 27.80-30.39 oC, salinity between 30.0-32.9 ppt, suspended solid between 70-80 ppm, transparency between see bottom – 8,5 m, nutrient phosphate between 0.13-1.79 mg/l, nitrate between 0.20-2.66 mg/l, dissolved oxygen between 3,68-4.53 ppm, and pH between 7.4-8.2. The values are still good for coralreef growth and development, and still in good agreement with government criteria for miscellaneous purpose. The variation of hydrology condition is not the caution of coral reef damage in Raha waters.

Abstract

Monitoring on Heavy Metals Content in Sea Water and Sediment in the Waters of Bacan Island, North of Maluku. Measurement on heavy metals content in seawater and sediment in the waters of Bacan Islands, North of Maluku were carried out in September 2005. That heavy metals are Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, and Ni. Seawater and sediment sample collected from 10 station by purposive sampling, in line with the goal of the research. The results showed that the heavy metals content in seawater still in line with the threshold value (NAB) stated by The Office of State Ministry for Life Environment (KMNLH) but in sediment heavy metals content is high relative, especially Cu and Ni has passed the threshold value for sediment. Beside heavy metal content also measured physical and chemical parameters such as temperature, salinity, total suspended solid, light transmission, dissolved oxygen, acidity, phosphate and nitrate. The result also indicated that parameters still in line with the threshold value stated by KMNLH for marine organism. Based on heavy metals content, the value of seawater quality status included into class A (fine) with score 0. Heavy metal content in sediment is higher than seawater, this condition indicated there are heavy metals accumulation in sediment.
