Abstract

Food security is a crucial issue in economics, particularly for ASEAN countries that heavily rely on rice commodities. Climate change impacts rice production, leading to production declines and price spikes, threatening economic stability and social welfare. ASEAN has committed to strategic cooperation to protect rice supplies and prevent food crises, while increasing production and stabilizing supply through collaborative initiatives. This study employs qualitative methods and descriptive analysis in literature review to explore the implementation of ASEAN regional cooperation on rice commodities. Secondary data is utilized to understand the impact of rice commodities on food security in the ASEAN region. Through a descriptive analytical approach, this research aims to provide an accurate picture of the relationship between regional cooperation and rice commodity management in ASEAN. The results indicate that ASEAN rice market integration is vital to reduce price risks for farmers and improve food security. The establishment of a rice futures market can help manage risks and ensure stable prices, which are crucial for maintaining economic stability. Regional cooperation and harmonization of rice standards are necessary, along with improved infrastructure and financial support for farmers to sustain the agricultural sector and the economic well-being of the ASEAN region.

Abstract

The presence of Eschericia coli (E.Coli) bacteria is one indicator of food contamination that can cause food-borne diseases. Fresh vegetables have nutritional advantages because they are consumed raw so that the nutrients contained in them are not denatured or changed. Types of vegetables that are usually consumed fresh have the potential to be detrimental to health because they are susceptible to microbial contamination. This study aims to review the sanitation hygiene of traders and determine the content of E.Coli bacteria in cabbage vegetables from fried catfish traders in one of the sub-districts in the city of Pekanbaru. The type of research used is survey and laboratory analysis. Technique sampling in this study is total sampling technique with a sample of 10 fried catfish traders. The results showed that hygiene and sanitation were still low in all traders. All traders do not use running water for washing vegetables and cutlery, and vegetables are not stored in closed containers. The results of bacterial analysis, it was found that 6 samples of fresh vegetables cabbage fried catfish contained E.Coli and the rest did not contain E.Coli bacteria. It can be concluded that the application of food sanitation hygiene by food handlers at several fried catfish traders in Pekanbaru City is in the poor category, because from 10 samples of cabbage vegetables, E.coli was found in 6 samples of cabbage vegetables.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concepts of haqiqah (literal meaning) and majaz (figurative meaning) in Ushul Fiqh and their implications in the determination of Sharia law. The study is motivated by the issue that misunderstanding the difference between these meanings often affects the legal conclusions derived from Qur’anic and Prophetic texts. The research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research on classical works by scholars such as Al-Amidi, Al-Ghazali, Al-Razi, Asy-Syaukani, Ibn Manzur, and Al-Jurjani. The findings indicate that distinguishing between literal and figurative meanings is a crucial step in deriving rulings from Qur’anic and Hadith texts. The meaning of haqiqah is always prioritized unless there is qarinah requiring a shift to majaz. The study concludes that the concepts of haqiqah and majaz serve as methodological instruments to ensure accuracy, consistency, and contextual relevance in Islamic legal reasoning.

Abstract

In the era of digital transformation, academic websites play a crucial role in facilitating communication, supporting academic functions, and promoting institutional transparency. This study assesses the quality of a faculty website at a public university in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia, from the users’ perspective. Utilizing the WebQual 4.0 framework, the research evaluates three key dimensions—usability, information quality, and interaction quality—to determine how effectively the website supports academic activities. To better prioritize areas for improvement, the study incorporates Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), which helps identify website attributes that are both important to users and currently underperforming. The findings provide an overview of users' perceptions of website effectiveness, highlight aspects that require strategic focus, and offer direction for future enhancements. This research adds to the body of knowledge on digital service quality in higher education by presenting a combined methodological approach that emphasizes user experience. The results offer practical recommendations for university administrators, web developers, and IT teams in optimizing academic websites to better support teaching, learning, and accreditation processes. The study underscores the significance of user-centered design in improving digital services and institutional performance within the higher education context.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing global burden of diabetes by evaluating whether ensemble-based machine learning models can support reliable and cost-efficient early risk prediction. Moving beyond accuracy-centered evaluation, the study integrates cost-sensitive threshold optimization and probability calibration to enhance clinical relevance. Random Forest and XGBoost are evaluated using two datasets with contrasting population characteristics. Model performance is examined in terms of discriminative ability, calibration quality, and total misclassification cost. The results indicate that while XGBoost remains competitive on small-scale datasets, Random Forest provides more stable calibration and more consistent cost efficiency. These findings suggest that cost-sensitive and calibrated ensemble approaches have the potential to support more rational and economically efficient diabetes screening policies.

Abstract

The Minangkabau randai art form is a cultural heritage that is currently experiencing decline due to westernization. Amidst the challenges of modernization, the Minangkabau Student Association (IMAMI) of Riau University strives to maintain the existence of randai art through a communication strategy by making IMAMI a forum for Minangkabau students to learn about Minangkabau culture. The purpose of this study is to examine how IMAMI's choice of communicators, audiences, and delivery media are used, and how reactions emerge to IMAMI's communication strategy. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, with a total of six informants, namely the chairperson of IMAMI, the head of the arts division of IMAMI, randai arts trainers and dancers, IMAMI alumni, and the general public (UNRI students). Data collection in this study was conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. To ensure data validity, the researcher used source and method triangulation. The results of this study show that: 1) IMAMI selects communicators who understand randai art and participate in randai art performances so that they not only act as messengers, but also become representatives of Minangkabau culture. 2) Minang students at the University of Riau are the main target audience for introducing randai art. Determining this audience is important for the success of the communication strategy. 3) Informative, persuasive, and educational messages are used to attract the interest of students at the University of Riau. 4) Utilizing social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to disseminate information and communicate directly, for example by holding live performances. 5) The response generated by the audience through the enthusiasm of students for randai art, as well as the emergence of pride in Minangkabau culture.
