Abstract

Palatal rugae have been proven to be useful as a means of individual identification. As there are no antemortem data about palatal rugae, they have to be connected with other indicators, such as fingerprints with available antemortem data. Objectives: To assess the association of the direction patterns of palatal rugae prints and thumbprints in the Deutero-Malay sub-race to improve forensic identification. Methods: Palatal rugae intraoral photos and thumbprints scans were from 193 Deutero-Malay individuals aged between 18–25 years (170 female, 23 male). ImageJ and Adobe software was used to identify direction patterns of the palatal rugae and thumbprints. Results: An antero-posterior direction was the most common direction pattern among right (64.17%) and left (49.26%) palatal rugae and right (58.12%) and left (56.02%) thumbprints. An association with small effect size was found between first right palatal rugae and right thumbprint (p-value = 0.024; Cramer’s V = 0.181) and with medium effect size between second left palatal rugae and left thumbprint (p-value = 0.000; Cramer’s V = 0.332). Conclusion: There is a significant association between the direction patterns of palatal rugae and thumbprints. This finding may lead to the development of a new effective technique in forensic odontology identification.

Abstract

This paper discusses the formulation of a risk model for paddy agricultural insurance in Indonesia. Indonesia as an agricultural country with a tropical climate, where the sun shines throughout its time, farmers can plant crops throughout the season. In particular, rice farming is currently an inseparable part of most agrarian societies in Indonesia, especially in West Java. However, changes in air temperature, weather and annual rainfall, which sometimes changes uncertainly, cause changes in cropping patterns. This weather uncertainty will certainly increase the risk of crop failure. This paper will analyze the effect of climate variables on the risk of crop failure. The climate variables in this analysis consist of temperature, wind speed, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and rainfall. The method to be developed here is to use the parametric method which will be used as a reference to determine the magnitude of risk, namely generalized pareto distribution and peak over threshold as a threshold. The results obtained that the greatest risk of losses to farmers occurred in November, December, January, February and March with a value of 0.17485. The organization of this paper consists of introduction, methodology, results and discussion, and conclusions.

Abstract

The presence of retail businesses in Indonesia has many positive impacts on the community, especially in improving the economy. The existence of buying and selling transactions involving suppliers, retailers, and the community as consumers can play a role in improving the national economy. Retail can be called a bridge for suppliers and consumers to meet their needs. The diversity of consumer needs requires retailers to provide a variety of products from many suppliers. Efforts that need to be made by retail businesses in order to minimize costs incurred are by controlling inventory. To prevent excessive expenditure, the inventory control method used is to apply the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model. The EOQ model can provide the optimum total inventory cost by adjusting the frequency of orders placed over a period of time. After obtaining the total inventory cost, the calculation of safety stock, reorder point, and maximum capacity can also be applied so that the inventory costs incurred can be minimal.

Abstract

Health is a basic need in human life. People spend a lot of money to maintain their health. One of the preventive health service options is to vaccinate. Indonesia is a country that can produce its own vaccines with its local pharmaceutical companies. The company faces stiff competition in today's rapidly growing market. Therefore, evaluation and assessment are needed to measure the progress of the company's development. One useful assessment is a company's financial review. Inventory control ensures that the planned approach can minimize costs without disrupting the production process. This research simulates data of demand and analyzes the inventory control based on simulated data. The object used in this research is the inventory of products of pharmaceutical companies. The data used is secondary data such as data of product quantity sold per period, purchasing cost, order cost, holding cost, shortage cost, and lead time. The method used for inventory control is Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model and Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation results on the monthly demand for vaccine products show that the total demand for one year is 3.394.805 vials for Vaccine A, 1.320.900 vials for Vaccine B and 107.345 for Vaccine C. Based on simulated data processing, calculations using the probabilistic EOQ model result in total inventory costs of Rp.456.918.008.386,14 for Vaccine A, Rp 218.292.795.949,34 for Vaccine B, and Rp. 9.177.930.319,05 for Vaccine C.

Abstract

The planning of raw material inventory is one of the essential factors in planning the order of the raw materials that can make a company maintain its production quality. The company’s policies can be implemented in various ways, such as in planning the raw materials inventory to avoid shortages and excesses of the raw materials supply. However, X Inc. has not implemented inventory planning properly, making the costs incurred by the company not optimal. Thus, Material Requirement Planning (MRP) will be used to determine the scheduling time and quantity of raw materials for ordering with lot sizing techniques. Lot sizing techniques provide solutions to determine the right quantity of raw material orders and minimum total inventory costs with techniques which are Lot for Lot (LFL), Least Unit Cost (LUC), Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), and Silver-Meal. Based on the calculation results, the four lot sizing techniques show that the LFL technique is the optimal technique compared to other techniques because it produces the minimum inventory cost of Rp566.015.685,05. Thus, the company can profit Rp13.295.563,75 compared to company policy.

Abstract

The buildup in the service system is generally caused because service facilities cannot meet service needs, so service users need time to use the facilities. Health Center is one of the facilities that provide services in the health sector. However, the number of doctors needed in health centers in Indonesia has yet to be met, and the number of patients who are never empty every day causes a buildup in the service system. The application of the service network system using the open Jackson queueing network can model the optimal service system and analyze its performance. The observation method was used to observe patients' arrival and departure times at the Jelekong Health Center, especially in the registration section, general polyclinic, dental polyclinic, and pharmacy, for three days. There was an increase in patient waiting time before being served and time in the system at the general polyclinic after implementation, so one additional service facility was added. Meanwhile, the dental polyclinic experienced decreased patient waiting time before being served and time in the system, so there was no need to add service facilities.

Abstract

Planning and controlling product inventory is very important for a company to ensure demand is met and maximize profits from sales effectively and efficiently. In addition, inventory planning and control are carried out to prevent excess or shortage of inventory. This study aims to predict sales and calculate inventory control to overcome excess stock and increased inventory costs on oil filter spare parts. The forecasting method used is Holt's Double Exponential Smoothing method to determine the number of sales of the four types of oil filter spare parts in the future and overcome the problem of oil filter spare parts inventory using the EOQ and Min-Max methods. Based on the research results, the resulting forecasting is accurate and the EOQ method results in a lower total inventory cost than the Min-Max method.
