Abstract

Background: Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions that teach religious morals as a basis for behavior should be a safe and comfortable place of education for students. There should be no more violence occurring in Islamic boarding schools, but in fact, recently there has been a lot of news about incidents of violence or bullying occurring in Islamic boarding schools. Islamic boarding schools are expected to provide a safe environment for students while fostering religious and moral values. However, incidents of bullying continue to occur within these institutions, highlighting a gap between expected and actual student experiences. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the factors that influence bullying incidents in an Islamic boarding school environment. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School, Sidoarjo, involving 109 students selected through simple random sampling (10% of the population). Independent variables included age, gender, school level, length of stay, and peer perception, while the dependent variable was bullying incidence. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The results indicated that 68.8% of respondents were in early adolescence (12–16 years), 60.6% were male, and 52.3% had stayed at the boarding school for over 35 months. Additionally, 68.8% of respondents had negative perceptions of their peers. The regression analysis yielded a significance value of 0.004 (p < 0.05) with an R-square of 15.4%, indicating that all independent variables jointly influenced bullying incidents. Conclusion: Age, gender, school level, length of stay in the boarding school, and peer perceptions collectively influence bullying behavior among students. These findings highlight the need for boarding school administrators to implement policies and interventions that address these contributing factors to reduce bullying prevalence.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Edukasi, Kesehatan Mental, Komunitas  ABSTRACT Mental health is a crucial aspect in achieving optimal health, yet it still faces challenges such as a lack of literacy and high levels of stigma within the community. This community service program aims to improve mental health literacy and instill integrity values through an educational and participatory approach in the elderly community in Banyu Urip Village, Surabaya. The program was implemented during June 2025 with a target population of 25 elderly people at the elderly integrated health post (Posyandu). The implementation method included interactive counseling using flipcharts and leaflets, basic health checks (blood sugar checks, head circumference, arm circumference, weight, and height), and the provision of a descriptively analyzed mental health early detection questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of participants were women (88%) aged 60-69 years. This activity successfully strengthened the role of cadres and Posyandu in providing routine checkups, educating the community, and expanding access to mental health information. The education provided through this KKN program increased participants' understanding of mental health and strategies for preventing daily stress. These findings emphasize the importance of community-based mental health education as a promotive and preventive effort, as well as the need for cross-sector collaboration to address stigma and increase access to mental health services at the community level. Keywords: Education, Mental Health, Community

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia faces a critical situation with 8% of its COVID-19 deaths being healthcare workers (HCWs). These workers are highly susceptible to the virus due to contact with infected patients. Approximately 35.5% of HCWs treating COVID-19 patients develop symptoms within 14 days, and 7% test positive via PCR. Alarmingly, 36% of HCWs are asymptomatic, posing a significant risk of unknowingly spreading the virus. The pandemic has induced fear of death, infection, and transmitting the virus to family members among HCWs, necessitating psychological support to prevent burnout and maintain a functional healthcare system. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of online psychological assistance for HCWs at the forefront of the COVID-19 battle. Methods: One of the psychological assistance methods offered is through social media applications. This type of psychological assistance can be considered the most practical and safe method because it prevents transmission between medical personnel. Results: The increasing number of COVID-19 patients has increased fatigue and infection rates among HCWs. They face uncertainty and feelings of loneliness during the pandemic. However, social support is crucial for psychological first aid and recovery. Misconceptions about COVID-19 being a conspiracy hinder HCWs' efforts. Promoting healthy behaviors such as hygiene practices and mask usage can mitigate the severity of the virus and improve survival rates. Conclusions: In 2020, the surge in COVID-19 cases has forced HCWs to adapt. Nonetheless, conspiracy theories about COVID-19 complicate their duties. Implementing an online psychological assistance application is essential to provide HCWs with the psychological support needed to adapt more effectively to the pandemic's challenges.
