Abstract

ABSTRACT Cervical cancer is a disease caused by malignant tumors in the cervical region as a result of uncontrolled tissue growth and damage to normal tissue. One of the effects felt by the patient is pain that occurs in the lower abdominal area and spreads to the leg muscles. One of the nonpharmacological therapies is Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy. This study aims to help reduce the pain scale that occurs in cervical cancer patients. This study uses a qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach: Descriptive which aims to study, develop or discover knowledge using a scientific approach. Determination of the sample carried out by the researcher is more determined when the researcher begins to enter the field and during the research, the method is that the researcher selects certain people according to the inclusion criteria determined by the researcher. The sample that the researcher obtained was 3 people. This research was conducted at Dr. Hospital. Soedarso from 8 May 2023-27 June 2023. It is known that all clients experience chronic pain whose quality of pain is the same as stabbing and all three patients experience pain in the same area of the body, namely the lower abdomen and radiates to the vagina, the pain scale experienced by the three patients is moderate with a range 5-6. When pain occurs, all are the same, intermittent, approximately every 1 minute, it will appear. after implementing Progressive Muscle Relaxation 2 times a day for 1 week and there was a change in pain reduction with the scale for each patient, the decrease in pain for 7 days was around 2-3 points. Patient 1's initial pain scale of 6 changed to 3, Patient 2's initial pain scale of 5 became 3, and patient 3's initial pain scale of 6 changed to 4. This study shows that giving Progressive Muscle Relaxation exercises which are carried out 2 times a day for 1 week with a duration of 30 minutes each implementation, is proven to be effective in reducing pain in cervical cancer patients, a decrease of 2-3 points on the pain scale. Abstract

This study aimed to develop Minimum Competency Assessment (MCA)-based geometry instructional materials to support junior high school students’ mathematical literacy, particularly in the formulate–employ–interpret process. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis stage revealed learning gaps, including the dominance of procedural approaches, limited use of visual and contextual media, and students’ difficulties in interpreting contextual geometry problems. The instructional materials were developed with contextual introductions, concept visualizations, AKM-based tasks, reflection activities, and geometric nets. Product validity was assessed by a content expert and a media expert, covering content and objective quality, instructional quality, and technical quality, with an average score of 74.3% (valid category). Practicality testing involving 25 eighth-grade students showed percentages ranging from 77% to 79%, indicating that the instructional materials are feasible and practical for classroom use. Further studies are recommended to examine effectiveness through experimental designs and to expand the development of interactive media. Copyright © 2021University of Siliwangi. All rights reserved.
