Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This germ has a dormant phase, which causes the healing process to take a long time, thereby increasing the risk of discontinuing drug consumption in TB patients. This has resulted in resistance to several types of anti-tuberculosis drugs, one of which is Rifampicin, a first-line drug in TB treatment. Rifampicin-resistant TB (RR-TB) requires rapid and precise diagnosis and treatment, namely the PCR method using the GeneXpert tool. Purposes: To find out the clinical features of pulmonary tuberculosis patients performing TCM GeneXpert at the Jakarta Islamic Hospital Cempaka Putih in January – June 2022. Methods: This study employs a descriptive observational method, which describes a clinical feature based on secondary data (medical records) from adult pulmonary TB patients undergoing TCM at RSIJ Cempaka Putih. Results: Among patients examined by Molecular Rapid Test, 64 individuals (59.3%) were MTB-detected, and among them, 12 individuals (18.8%) had rifampicin resistance. The highest positivity value from the results of MTB-detected was MTB-Medium Detected, namely 11 people (10.2%). The most common clinical symptom in pulmonary TB patients was cough with phlegm, which was 67 people (62%), and the comorbidity that most patients suffered was diabetes mellitus, which was 21 people (19.4%). Conclusions: The frequency distribution of the Molecular Rapid Test (MRT) results showed that 59.3% of the MTB-detected cases were rifampicin-resistant, with 18.8% of the total. Cough with phlegm is the most common clinical symptom experienced by TB patients, namely 62%.

Abstract

The crucial role of parents in providing exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, immunization, and maternal-child health significantly impacts a children's growth. This study aimed to explore the effects of breastfeeding, complementary feeding, immunization history, and maternal-child health on child growth. A quantitative descriptive-analytic study was conducted at the Pengasinan Community Health Center in Bekasi City in 2019, involving 136 mother-child pairs as participants. Data collection utilized questionnaires covering respondent characteristics, breastfeeding and complementary feeding status, basic child immunization, maternal immunization, and the medical history of both mother and child. Data analysis employed chi-square tests using SPSS version 22.0 with a confidence level of 95% and a significance level of P 0.05. Findings revealed that nearly 60% of children exhibited normal growth. Statistical analysis results indicated that exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding, complete basic child immunization, and maternal immunization significantly correlated with normal child growth (p-value 0.05). The implications highlight the urgent need for broader education on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding, and complete immunization for both mother and child.

Abstract

Worldwide, approximately three million infants die every year in their first month of life, and 22.3% of neonatal deaths can be prevented with Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (EIBF). Immediate breastfeeding initiation after birth is an integral part of safe delivery procedures and is widely recognized as a beneficial practice. Delayed breastfeeding initiation has been found to increase the risk of mortality among newborns. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between birth attendants and delivery methods with EIBF at Kasih Fatimah Maternity and Children’s Hospital. Method: A descriptive-analytic approach using a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 80 samples selected through consecutive sampling. Results: The study revealed that 77 respondents (96.3%) initiated breastfeeding within <1 hour, with 62.5% of patients assisted by midwives, and 62.5% giving birth via vaginal delivery. No significant relationship was found between birth attendants and delivery methods with EIBF (p>0.05). Conclusions: Although these results demonstrate a high level of EIBF practice and no significant association with EIBF, there is potential for improvement in the implementation of EIBF procedures in the hospital.

Abstract

Student difficulties in solving mathematical literacy problems significantly affect elementary school students, which is why this research aims to analyze the difficulties faced by fourth-grade students in solving mathematical literacy problems related to algebra and to formulate strategies to address these difficulties based on Polya's Steps. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with four fourth-grade students from Class IV-A, selected from 21 students at SD Negeri Bontoramba during the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, as the research subjects. Data collection techniques include administering tests and conducting interviews. The researcher uses data reduction, data representation, and conclusion-drawing models for data analysis. The study results indicate that students face difficulties in solving mathematical literacy problems related to algebra, especially in understanding the problem, planning, executing the plan, and reviewing the solution according to Polya's Steps. Students often struggle with understanding the problem, creating models, following procedures, and reviewing results. Keywords: Mathematical Literacy, Student Difficulties, Polya's Theory

Abstract

Abstract

Dengue fever is a type of disease with a high and fast transmission rate, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. One of the dengue fever vaccines developed by Sanofi Pasteur (CYD-TDV) and has undergone phase III clinical trials is the tetravalent dengue vaccine. This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis and review analysis of the effectiveness of the dengue vaccine on the level of efficacy at various age levels based on previously published research results. This research uses a quantitative approach through a meta-analysis study. The data in this study were obtained from multiple sources of scientific literature in the form of research articles published in national and international journals. Data was collected online through Google Scholar, PubMed, ProQuest, Cochrane Library, and Scopus—a literature search from various sources using the keyword dengue vaccine. Data analysis was performed with the distinct stages of the study sample, effect size heterogeneity testing, calculating summary effects, calculating p-values, and determining and plotting publication bias/trim-fill analysis. The research results showed that administration of the tetravalent vaccine (CYD-TDV) to children aged 2-16 years had a moderate relationship with a Random Effect value (r ̅_RE)=0.400. The efficacy level of the CYD-TDV dengue vaccine significantly impacts patients who are given the vaccine regularly at certain time intervals (I2=4.46%).
