Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the efficiency of cattle farm business in Huta Gondang Rejo Nagori Bandar Tongah Bandar Huluan Subdistrict Simalungun Regency through the use of pellet complete feed based on palm oil fronds and agricultural waste. This activity is conducted on cattle ranchers who are members of the farming community group Huta Gondang Rejo. Farmers are given counseling and training on the processing of palm oil fronds and agricultural waste into livestock feed and the establishment of a complete ration of palm-based pellet and agricultural waste. To facilitate the transfer of this technology to the breeder, then prepared a complete feed pellet with 5 types of machines. Palm Crusher Counter Machines or Palm Crafter Engines with a capacity of 600 kg/hour. Pellet printing machine (granulator) with capacity of 100 kg/hour. Mixer machine (mixer feed) with a capacity of 50 kg/stir. Dryer (Oven) with capacity of 10 kg/rack. Manual press feed press tool with specification 2 kg/print. Measuring the success of this activity is seen from the level of farmer adoption of pelleting technology and the difference of ration conversion between cattle that get complete feed and conventional or traditional. Performance of palm cropping machine for cattle that get complete pellet feed is better than cattle that get conventional or traditional feed. This Chopper machine can count the palm stem from the tip of the base of the leaf to the stem (80% of the palm stem). Through the activities of plant waste feed technology is expected to achieve some outcomes, namely, improve the productivity of farming through the system integration of livestock combine farming system with synergistic system to form an effective, efficient and environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Palm oil is one of the most demanded commodities globally, which has led to a significant increase in its production and raised issues regarding its environmental impact. However, many of these issues are not based on substantial evidence. To provide a proportional picture on the oil palm industry, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and the Association of Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs (GAPKI) have collaborated to carry out this program. The program was conducted for seven days through classroom lectures and field trip activities, involving 14 students and two supervisors from UTAS and four USU students. Pre and post-tests were conducted to evaluate the impact of the program.  The results showed changes in participants' knowledge and perception regarding the environmental, social, and economic effects of the oil palm industry. Therefore, this program could be considered an effective counter to misleading Indonesian palm oil industry issues.

Abstract

The q-gradient method used a Yuan step size for odd steps, and geometric recursion as an even step size (q-GY). This study aimed to accelerate convergence to a minimum point by minimizing the number of iterations, by dilating the parameter q to the independent variable and then comparing the results with three algorithms namely, the classical steepest descent (SD) method, steepest descent method with Yuan Steps (SDY), and q-gradient method with geometric recursion (q-G). The numerical results were presented in tables and graphs. The study used Rosenbrock function f(x)=〖(1-x_1)〗^2+100〖(x_2-〖x_1〗^2)〗^2 and determined μ=1,σ_0=0.5,β=0.999, the starting point (x_0) with a uniform distribution on the interval x_0= (-2.048, 2.048) in R^2, with 49 starting points (x_0) executed using the Python online compiler on a 64bit core i3 laptop. The maximum number of iterations was 58,679. Using tolerance limits as stopping criteria is 10-4 and the inequality 〖f(x〗^*)>f to get numerical results. q-GY method down ward movement towards the minimum point was better than the SD and SDY methods while the numerical results of the Rosenbrock function showed good enough performance to increase convergence to the minimum point

Abstract

A wave is an energy that can propagate with a medium; the propagation of a wave moves with respect to time by carrying energy that moves with velocity per unit of time. Sea waves are one of the propagating wave problems that are broken down to produce wave propagation with a relatively inhomogeneous minimum amplitude and speed of sea waves, which have their own difficulties in solving them numerically. This study aims to analyze the stability of wave propagation on submerged breakwaters. This research will approximate the finite discretization of the breakwater domain and then combine it with the Finite Element Method to determine the moving elements of the velocity of fluid flow through a porous submerged breakwater. The research has explained the equation of the inflated wave and the simulated representation displayed on the wave breakdown process, the point that becomes the center of the waves breakdown will give a focused red color indicator meaning there is a change in momentum and potential energy that occurs and then changes the colour of the post-flattering of the sea wave so that the sinking wave breaker is a method to obtain the minimum speed and amplitude values that can be used for coastal engineering.

Abstract

Robust regression in residential environmental performance measurement can provide significant benefits. This method can help identify and overcome uncertainties in measurement results so that decision making related to environmental protection and management can be done more accurately. This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The results of this study indicate that the results of the M-estimate robust regression estimation on simple housing environmental performance obtained the M-estimate robust regression equation, namely ŷ = 15.562+0.476X1-0.453X2+0.222X3-0.427X4. Based on the p-value test results, it shows that population attributes, house attributes, energy consumption volume and utilities and services have a significant effect on environmental performance. The results of the hypothesis testing of the M-estimation robust regression method on the environmental performance of simple housing obtained that the variables of population attributes and energy consumption volume have a positive and significant effect on environmental performance while the variables of house attributes and utilities and services have a negative and significant effect on environmental performance.
