Abstract

This study explores how initial teacher education (ITE) influence professional identity construction of pre service English teachers in rural Islamic-based schools in Indonesian context. Employing multiple case study design with six pre service teachers, the research utilized semi-structured interview. Findings reveal that initial motivation for teaching are varied, inspired by past educators, yet frequently accompanied by an underestimation of teaching complexity. Academic training provides foundational knowledge, but the practicum serves as a critical “reality shock,” profoundly reshaping perceptions and shifting focus from content delivery to a holistic understanding of teaching. The unique rural and religious context actively compels pedagogical adaptation, influence role perception and facilitate the integration of personal values. Support system, mentorship and peer networks are crucial for confidence development. The understanding of “being teacher” evolves from a task-oriented role to  a multi-faceted agent committed to students’ holistic development. These insights underscore the need for ITE programs to enhance practicum design, strengthen mentorship and foster resilience and adaptability to support comprehensive professional identity development of future teachers.

Abstract

Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk menganalisis konsep pendidikan pranatal dalam Islam dan bagaimana tradisi procotan di Pantura Lamongan berinteraksi dengan ajaran Islam dalam. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk membandingkan dan mengontraskan pendekatan pendidikan pranatal dalam Islam dan tradisi procotan di Pantura Lamongan. Selain itu, artikel ini akan memberikan rekomendasi bagi keluarga muslim di Pantura dan bisa daerah manapun untuk mengintegrasikan pendidikan pranatal dalam Islam dengan praktik budaya lokal. Dengan demikian, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pendidikan pranatal dalam Islam dan memberikan kontribusi pada studi interdisipliner tentang hubungan antara agama, budaya, dan Pendidikan. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan data dari wawancara, dokumentasi dan obesrvasi relevan mengenai teori Pendidikan prenatal dan fenomena ritual praktik budaya procotan di Pantura Lamongan dalam kehamilan, persepsi masyarakat terhadap pendidikan pranatal, serta pengaruh media sosial dan teknologi terhadap pendidikan prenatal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan pranatal dalam Islam memiliki relevansi yang kuat dengan tradisi procotan, dengan menciptakan sinergi antara nilai-nilai agama dan praktik budaya lokal. Temuan utama ini menegaskan bahwa pendidikan pranatal tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai transfer informasi, tetapi juga sebagai cara untuk membangun kesadaran komunitas tentang kesehatan ibu dan bayi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa banyak masyarakat yang mengadopsi elemen-elemen dari ajaran Islam dalam praktik-praktik budaya sehingga menciptakan pendekatan yang lebih holistik terhadap pendidikan pranatal.

Abstract

Listening is widely recognized as one of the most challenging skills for junior high school EFL learners, especially when instruction still depends on monotonous, textbook-based audio materials that offer limited authenticity. The From Lyrics to Listening program was designed as a creative instructional model to enhance the listening proficiency of ninth-grade students at Nurul Jadid Junior High School through the integration of English songs. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach complemented by simple quantitative comparisons to examine students’ progress before and after the intervention. During a four-week implementation period, students engaged in structured pre-listening, while-listening, and post-listening activities supported by digital platforms such as YouTube and LyricsTraining. The results indicate a notable improvement in students’ listening comprehension, particularly in their ability to recognize vocabulary, interpret lyrical meaning, and understand the main ideas of spoken texts. Classroom observations further showed increased enthusiasm, active participation, and learner confidence. Overall, the findings highlight that incorporating English songs into listening instruction is both enjoyable and pedagogically effective, contributing to enhanced motivation and improved listening outcomes.
