Abstract

This study aims to identify the need for developing iconic infographic media in history learning to support the enhancement of high school students' chronological thinking skills. Such skills are essential for understanding temporal sequences, causal relationships, and historical contexts coherently. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observations, interviews, questionnaires, and pretests involving eleventh-grade students and a history teacher at SMAN 1 IV Koto. Findings show that learning activities remain dominated by text-based materials, while students experience difficulties organizing historical events chronologically. Data from questionnaires, interviews, and pretest results indicate that students' chronological thinking skills remain limited, with only 63% achieving adequate scores on the first indicator, 37% on the second, and 26% on the third. These findings highlight the necessity for developing concise, structured, and visually oriented iconic infographic media. The recommendation to develop Canva-based infographic media arises as an implication of needs analysis rather than empirical evidence of effectiveness, as this study is limited to the needs-analysis phase. Canva was selected for its user-friendly features, ready-to-use templates, and accessibility for teachers without specialized design skills.

Abstract

The fundamental problem underlying this research is the lack of motivation to learn history demonstrated by class XI F-5 students at SMAN 1 X Koto, as well as the lack of student activeness in learning. This condition occurs because teachers still use monotonous learning media in the form of simple PowerPoint without displaying interactive images or videos. This study aims to examine the need to develop educational TikTok-based history learning media in an effort to increase student learning motivation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, data collection techniques were carried out through the distribution of questionnaires given to 33 students and 1 history teacher. The results revealed that student learning motivation is still in the low category in the aspects of placed values, expectations and self-efficacy as well as persistence and involvement. Initial observations showed that 63,6% (21 student) of students preferred using TikTok content over other platforms as a learning medium. The results of the analysis of the curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, teacher resources, and smartphone usage rules indicate suitable support for the development of educational TikTok content media. Thus, educational TikTok content is considered suitable, innovative, and has great potential to increase high school students' motivation to learn history

Abstract

The low chronological thinking skills of Grade XI F3 students at SMA Negeri 2 Sijunjung in history learning are reflected in their difficulties in sequencing events and connecting them with time and place. This condition is exacerbated by the dominance of lecture methods and the limited use of innovative media, making the learning process monotonous. This study aims to analyze the needs for developing Digital Poster (PORTAL) media with location direction features as an effort to enhance students’ chronological skills. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through classroom observation, teacher and student interviews, and questionnaires. The findings indicate that history learning remains confined to conventional media, causing students to become easily bored and struggle to understand the interrelation of events. Both teachers and students emphasized the need for visually engaging, interactive, and context-based media linked to historical locations. The study concludes that the development of Digital Poster (PORTAL) with location direction is highly relevant to support learning motivation and improve students’ chronological thinking skills in history learning.

Abstract

This study analyzes the need for storyline video media in history learning to improve the chronological thinking skills of grade X Phase E students at SMAN 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan. The background of this study is the low ability of students to organize historical events sequentially, which is caused by limited variations in learning media. Teachers still predominantly use lectures and written texts. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through observation, interviews, and pretests to measure students' chronological thinking skills. The results show that this ability is still low, with only around 23%–36% of students able to answer chronology-based questions correctly. The needs analysis indicates the importance of developing storyline video media that presents visualizations of events in a sequential, interactive, and engaging manner. This media is considered effective in helping students understand the relationship between time and cause and effect in history. Support for school facilities and smartphone ownership by students also strengthen the potential for its application. Therefore, the development of storyline video media for the material on the Patterns of Life in the Prehistoric Period is considered strategic in improving chronological thinking skills while supporting the achievement of history learning according to the Independent Curriculum. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini menganalisis kebutuhan media video storyline dalam pembelajaran sejarah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kronologis siswa kelas X Fase E di SMAN 1 Basa Ampek Balai Tapan. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun peristiwa sejarah secara runtut, yang disebabkan oleh keterbatasan variasi media pembelajaran. Guru masih dominan menggunakan metode ceramah dan teks tertulis. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, serta pretest untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kronologis siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan tersebut masih rendah, dengan hanya sekitar 23%–36% siswa yang mampu menjawab soal berbasis kronologi dengan benar. Analisis kebutuhan menunjukkan pentingnya pengembangan media video storyline yang menyajikan visualisasi peristiwa secara runtut, interaktif, dan menarik. Media ini dinilai efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami hubungan waktu dan sebab-akibat dalam sejarah. Dukungan sarana sekolah dan kepemilikan smartphone oleh siswa turut memperkuat potensi penerapannya. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan media video storyline pada materi Corak Kehidupan Masa Praaksara dianggap strategis dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kronologis sekaligus mendukung capaian pembelajaran sejarah sesuai Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

The background of this research is the lack of variation in teaching materials and the reliance on traditional teaching methods, which affects the low causality thinking skills of students in schools. The aim of this research is to create digital teaching materials in the form of a scrapbook that can serve as a tool to improve students' causality thinking skills in history learning at SMA N 1 Banuhampu. This research uses a mixed-method approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and reinforced by administering simple tests to students. In this way, the researcher can analyze the needs in developing digital scrapbook teaching materials. Based on these findings, the researcher found that there is a lack of variety in teaching materials, and many teachers and students still use conventional teaching materials during learning. Considering the problems that have been identified, the researcher plans to develop teaching materials utilizing technology. The use of technology will help create diverse learning styles that can be adapted and serve as support in enhancing students' causal thinking skills. The digital scrapbook teaching materials developed by the researcher in this study provide an opportunity for students to better understand the learning material, thereby improving their causal thinking skills in history learning.

Abstract

Biodigester adalah salah satu solusi yang sempurna untuk lahan pertanian berkelanjutan dan pemanasan global, dimana amonia dari kotoran segar bisa ditangkap dan digunakan untuk biogas untuk bahan bakar, sedangkan limbahnya “disebut juga dengan slurry” sangat baik digunakan untuk pupur organik dan bahkan dapat digunakan untuk pakan ternak. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini ditujukan untuk membantu peternakan SEHATTI dalam mengelola limbahnya terutama kotoran ternak yang segar menjadi biogas dan slurry menggunakan teknologi biodigester. Hasil pertama dari kegiatan ini sebuah biodigester berkapasitas 9.8 m3, tersusun atas sebuah tengki pengaduk, tengki slurry, celah masuk kotoran, pipa buangan gas dan celah buangan slurry, serta akses transportasi bahan mentah. Biodigester tersebut mampu menampung 250 kg kotoran setiap hari dengan menghasilkan 3 kg gas LPG dan 500 kg slurry. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini selanjutnya adalah skill atau kemampuan anggota dalam mengoperasikan kerja biodigester. Biodigester yang dibangun ini cukup untuk mengelola kotoran pada peternakan skala kecil hingga menengah, dan dapat berkontribusi pada penurunan emisi amonia yang diproduksi oleh peternakan, sumber gas alternatif dan pupuk organic (slurry) dengan kualitas bagus.

Abstract

Guru IPS memerlukan penguatan profesional agar mampu merancang pembelajaran yang relevan dengan keragaman sosial-budaya peserta didik. Pengajaran yang responsif secara budaya (Culturally Responsive Teaching/CRT) menekankan peran aktif guru dalam mengaitkan materi IPS dengan identitas, pengalaman, dan konteks budaya peserta didik melalui interaksi kelas yang inklusif. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan CRT (melalui rangkaian pelatihan pendekatan CTRL yang digunakan dalam kegiatan) untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru IPS anggota MGMP IPS Kota Padang dalam memahami prinsip CRT, merancang modul/RPP IPS berbasis kearifan lokal, serta menyiapkan strategi pembelajaran dan asesmen yang lebih responsif budaya. Dampak terhadap pembelajaran IPS yang lebih bermakna bagi peserta didik diposisikan sebagai outcome yang diharapkan melalui implementasi perangkat ajar yang disusun, namun tidak diukur secara langsung pada kegiatan ini. Metode pelaksanaan terdiri atas empat langkah, yaitu persiapan dan sosialisasi, kegiatan inti 1 (pembinaan), kegiatan inti 2 (pelatihan perancangan perangkat ajar dengan pendekatan CTRL), dan tahap pemberdayaan/evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan guru memperoleh pengetahuan dan strategi untuk mengaitkan pembelajaran IPS dengan latar budaya, yang tercermin pada modul/RPP yang disusun. Selain itu, berdasarkan kegiatan diseminasi perangkat ajar, sebanyak 90% guru melaporkan telah menerapkan prinsip pembelajaran responsif budaya dalam praktik pembelajaran sehari-hari.
