Abstract

This study explores the strategies and methods for teaching Arabic vocabulary to young children at an Integrated Islamic Primary School (SDIT). The research analyzes how different teaching approaches affect vocabulary acquisition in early childhood education. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The main strategies identified include visual and audio media, thematic approaches, repetition, and interactive games. The results highlighted that multisensory and Total Physical Response (TPR) methods significantly improved vocabulary retention and student participation. The communicative approach also proved effective in helping students use new vocabulary in practical contexts. The findings suggest combining visual, physical, and verbal techniques is the most effective way to improve vocabulary acquisition. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on language learning by providing insights into effective vocabulary teaching strategies in an Islamic educational setting, with implications for curriculum development and teacher training.

Abstract

Abstract This community service activity aims to improve the accreditation results of the Arabic Language Education study program at STAI Nurul Iman Bogor through curriculum review assistance. Through a participatory approach, the service team works with managers and teaching staff to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the existing curriculum, and design curriculum updates that are in accordance with the needs and latest developments in Arabic language education. The process of improving accreditation results through mentoring is carried out in the form of interactive counseling with material on improving the quality of study programs towards excellence, Arabic curriculum development, Arabic language learning methodology, and Arabic literature learning methodology. The results obtained from this activity include the participants having additional knowledge related to the preparation of study program accreditation towards excellence by practicing filling out accreditation forms. The participants also have references in implementing the methodology of learning Arabic language and literature through a practice so that they are ready to improve their teaching creatively. The experience and results of this activity can also be used as a reference for similar study programs in various other educational institutions. Keywords: curriculum review; quality improvement; Arabic language learning; learning Arabic literature Abstrak Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil akreditasi prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Arab STAI Nurul Iman Bogor melalui pendampingan telaah kurikulum. Melalui pendekatan partisipatif, tim pengabdi bekerjasama dengan para pengelola dan tenaga pengajar untuk mengidentifikasi kekuatan dan kelemahan kurikulum yang ada, serta merancang pembaruan kurikulum yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan perkembangan terkini dalam pendidikan bahasa Arab. Proses peningkatan hasil akreditasi melalui pendampingan dilakukan dalam bentuk penyuluhan yang interaktif dengan materi peningkatan kualitas prodi menuju unggul, pengembangan kurikulum bahasa Arab, metodologi pembelajaran bahasa Arab, dan metodologi pembelajaran sastra Arab. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini antara lain para peserta telah memiliki pengetahuan tambahan terkait penyiapan akreditasi prodi menuju unggul dengan mempraktikkan pengisian borang akreditasi. Para peserta juga telah memiliki referensi dalam mengimplementasikan metodologi pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Arab melalui sebuah praktik sehingga mereka siap meningkatkan pengajarannya secara kreatif. Pengalaman dan hasil dari kegiatan ini juga dapat dijadikan sebagai referensi bagi program studi sejenis di berbagai institusi pendidikan lainnya. Abstract

The use of relevant and concise wording in infographics is crucial to ensure that the information presented can be quickly and effectively understood by readers. However, existing infographics still need to strike a balance between information density and clarity of delivery. This study explores the relevance of words and meaning in student-created infographics, using Sperber & Wilson’s Relevance Theory (1986, 1995) as a framework. By analyzing three student-created infographics, the study identified the main structural elements of infographics: description (general overview), details (specific information), and significance (practical value). It also examined audience intentions, categorized as either informative or communicative. The results revealed that the "significance" element dominated all the infographics, underscoring the importance of the practical value and relevance of the information presented. Audiences were more likely to engage with infographics they found informative, although a balance between informative and communicative aspects—such as seen in Infographic 1—yielded optimal impact on audience comprehension and engagement. This study highlighted the importance of infographic design that emphasized word and meaning relevance to create effective communication. Recommendations are provided for more strategically integrating communicative elements to enhance the appeal and effectiveness of infographics in various communication contexts. Abstract

One of the speech disorders in adolescence to adulthood is lisping, which is a speech impairment where there is difficulty in pronouncing the /r/ phoneme. A lisp involves an assimilation of sound changes that are imperfect when pronouncing the /r/ phoneme. This study aims to explore that communication with individuals who have a lisp is quite different compared to communication with individuals without speech disorders. The focus of this research is on adolescent lisp sufferers. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The data collection techniques used in this study are recording, observation, and note-taking. Afterward, the data will be transcribed. The data sources are the students of SMPIT Nurul Qolbi on the consonants /r/ and /s/. The data consists of utterances from two informants. The results of this study show that Syafa Azzahra obtained 28 data points on the lisp disorder “S” and Ananda Rizky Ramadhan obtained 19 data points on the /r/ phoneme.
