Abstract

The focus of this research is the lack of understanding and integration of historical learning sources regarding the remains of ceramic objects from the Srivijaya period found in the Musi River in Palembang, Indonesia. Even though these findings have important historical value, their integration in the history education curriculum is still minimal, so the potential to enrich historical knowledge and local cultural identity is still underutilized. The aim of this research is to explore the historical value of Sriwijaya period ceramics found in the Musi River and their integration as a source for learning local history in Palembang. Qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through literature study, document analysis, and field observations. The literature study includes historical and archaeological references related to the Sriwijaya Kingdom and ceramics found in the Musi River. Document analysis involves examining archaeological finds and previous research reports. The collected data was analyzed to reveal the historical value of ceramics and their potential as a source of learning local history in Palembang. The results of the identification of finds of Chinese ceramic objects from the Sriwijaya era include ceramics from the Tang (7th-9th century AD) and Sung (10th -13th century AD) dynasties. The discovery of Chinese ceramic objects from the Sriwijaya era has historical value in the fields of foreign policy, economics, social and culture during the development of Srivijaya in Palembang. The historical value of ceramic objects is so important that they can be used as a source of local history learning in schools.
