Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of research on cognitive flexibility in the fields of business management and accounting through a bibliometric approach based on data from the Scopus database. Cognitive flexibility is understood as an individual’s ability to shift perspectives and adapt responses to situational dynamics, which is crucial in modern managerial decision-making. The analysis was conducted on 166 documents published between 1989 and 2025. The results show a significant increase in publication volume since 2019, with research articles dominating (98.8%). The journal that most frequently published related articles is the Journal of Business Research, while the most productive author is Septianto, F. The largest contributions come from institutions in the United States, China, and Australia. The subject areas are dominated by Business, Management and Accounting (45.5%), followed by Social Sciences and Psychology. These findings indicate that cognitive flexibility is an increasingly global and interdisciplinary topic, with great potential for further development in the context of strategic management, organizational innovation, and human resource development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence on employee performance. Employee performance is a crucial factor in determining organizational success, influenced not only by technical capabilities but also by psychological aspects and individual values. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative method. The population in this study was all private sector employees located in Tarakan City, with a sample of 150 respondents determined using a probability sampling technique with simple random sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis with the aid of statistical software. The results showed that spiritual intelligence had a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, emotional intelligence also had a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Simultaneously, spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on employee performance. These findings suggest that human resource development oriented toward strengthening spiritual intelligence and emotional intelligence can be an effective strategy for improving employee performance. This research is expected to provide theoretical contributions to the development of human resource management science and provide practical applications for organizations in designing more holistic employee development programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of competence and training on employee performance, with organizational commitment serving as a mediating variable, in the Department of Industry and Trade of Malinau Regency. The research background focuses on various issues related to employee performance, including limitations in technical competence, suboptimal training effectiveness, and variations in employees’ levels of commitment to carrying out public service duties. The Resource-Based View (RBV) theory is employed to explain how competence and training enhance organizational capabilities. This study uses a quantitative, path-analytic approach to examine both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results indicate that competence and training have a significant effect on employee performance, both directly and indirectly through organizational commitment as a mediating variable. These findings highlight that performance improvement is not solely dependent on employees’ technical skills and knowledge, but also on their level of psychological attachment to the organization. In addition to contributing theoretically to the field of human resource management, this study provides practical recommendations, including developing needs-based training programs, strengthening organizational culture, and implementing sustainable competency development policies to improve employee performance in local government institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the relationships among price perception, product quality, consumer satisfaction, and purchasing decisions in the café industry in Malinau Regency. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 160 respondents who had experience purchasing products from local cafés. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results indicate that product quality and consumer satisfaction have a positive, significant effect on purchasing decisions, whereas price perception does not. However, price perception significantly affects consumer satisfaction, suggesting that consumers evaluate prices based on perceived fairness and value for money rather than as a direct trigger for purchase decisions. Furthermore, the findings reveal that consumer satisfaction plays a strategic mediating role. Consumer satisfaction mediates the relationship between price perception and purchasing decisions, as well as between product quality and purchasing decisions. This indicates that fair pricing and high product quality first enhance consumer satisfaction, which, in turn, strengthens purchasing decisions and repurchase intentions. Product quality reflected in taste, consistency, presentation, hygiene, and freshness emerges as a critical determinant of satisfaction and long-term consumer behavior in the café context. Overall, this study highlights the importance of consumer satisfaction as a key psychological mechanism linking marketing variables to purchasing decisions. The findings provide practical implications for café business owners in Malinau Regency, emphasizing the need to focus on value-based pricing strategies, consistent product quality, and positive consumption experiences to foster satisfaction and sustainable purchasing behavior. This research also contributes to the marketing literature by reinforcing the mediating role of consumer satisfaction in the food and beverage industry, particularly in semi-urban regions.
