Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving Daphnia sp. the results of different culture media on the growth and survival of tilapia fish seeds. This research was conducted from November 2021 to January 2022. The method used in this study is the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) method with four treatments and three replicates, namely P1 (Daphnia sp. cabbage vegetable culture results), P2 (Daphnia sp. banana peel culture results), P3 (Daphnia sp. chicken egg culture results), and K (Control). The results showed the highest growth in the P3 treatment with a weight gain of 0.90 g and a length gain of 1.72 cm, followed by treatment P1 of 0.49 g with a length gain of 1.09 cm, and the lowest in the P2 treatment of 0.33 g with a length increase of 1.13 cm. The highest survival rate during rearing was found in the P3 treatment at 91.1%, and the lowest survival rate in the P1 and P2 treatments at 87.8%. Water quality parameters obtained were temperature ranging from 25 - 29o C, pH ranging from 7.32 - 8.56, DO ranging from 3.1 - 5.3 mg/l, and ammonia ranging from 0.15 - 0.25 mg/l.

Abstract

Goldfish (Carassius auratus) at Maju Mapan Farm is one of the leading ornamental fish commodities with a high mortality rate due to disease. For this reason, this research aims to know about the type, prevalence, and intensity of ectoparasites at Maju Mapan Farm. The method in this research was random sampling for fish sampling 30 fish/pond. The type of parasites, prevalence, and intensity were analyzed descriptively and described in figures, tables, or graphs. This observation and identification showed that ectoparasites infected by goldfish at Maju Mapan Farm consisted of 3 types: Trichodina sp, Dactylogyrus sp, and Gyrodactylus sp. The types of ectoparasites that dominated both were Trichodina sp (96.11%), Dactylogyrus sp (3.61%), and Gyrodactylus sp (0.28%). Prevalence of ectoparasites was Trichodina sp (83.33%), Dactylogyrus sp (43.33%), and Gyrodactylus sp (6.67%). The intensity of ectoparasites were Trichodina sp (129 ind/fish), Dactylogyrus sp. (9 ind/fish), and Gyrodactylus sp (4 ind/fish). Trichodina sp. and Gyrodactylus sp. were commonly found in mucus, while Dactylogyrus sp. only infected goldfish in the gill organ. Prevalence and intensity of ectoparasites were found in goldfish with medium-stage infection at Maju Mapan Farm. The result of measuring water quality parameters was not optimal, causing ectoparasites to infect and multiply rapidly in goldfish at Maju Mapan Farm.

Abstract

Polyculture is cultivation in one container that produces more than one species of fish simultaneously. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect on the growth of gouramy in polyculture system. This study uses an experimental method of Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4 treatments and 4 repetitions that is P1 (15 species gouramy), P2 (10 species of limnetic lobster ad is species of gouramy), P3 (15 species of limnetic lobster and 15 species of gouramy), and P4 (20 species of limnetic and 15 species of gouramy). The data analysis used is analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) for futher test, while the quality of water is analysed descriptively. The observation result show that different stocking density treatment affects absolute length growth of gouramy (O.gouramy). This is because the stocking density of limnetic lobster (C. quadricarinatus) is different for each treatment on gouramy (O. gouramy). The highest average result of measure ment of absolute weight growth is 1,45 ± 0,017 g. This is because the stocking density of limnetic lobster (C. quadricarinatus) at P2 is low. Low stocking density provides suitable space for gouramy to move and live. The maintenance of the polyculture system is better done with 10 species of limnetic lobster and 15 species gouramy because it makes the best absolute length and weight growth.

Abstract

Hematologic analysis of plasma proteins by testing for hemoglobin, erythrocytes, and leukocytes against ectoparasite infection in cages was carried out by taking samples of fish with consumption sizes of 15-20 cm. The aim of this study was to find out the amount of exposure to ectoparasites internally in the body of tilapia based on blood protein hematology test. Analysis of the data used is analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the aim of knowing the effect of sampling and the parameters tested. The results showed that the presence of infection identified normal hemoglobin levels of 7.438 g/dL, erythrocytes were quite low at 1.5605 x1012/L, this is the nutritional factor given to tilapia and leukocytes were still in normal condition, namely 61.985x109/L. The ectoparasites found were Streptococcus sp, Lernea sp, Aeromonas sp, and Trichodina sp. The effect of the value of plasma protein content in blood for hemoglobin and leukocytes is still in normal condition, but erythrocytes are below the normal point so that from internal factors of tilapia disease, hematological blood plasma protein affects tilapia disease, especially on erythrocyte variables that affect fish anemia to mass death. This is in accordance with the situation in the field where tilapia in the KJA (Floating Net Cage) experienced sudden and mass death in a short period of time even though previously routine controls had been carried out by cage cultivators. When fish experience stress, fish blood glucose levels will increase while fish blood plasma total protein levels decrease.

Abstract

Betta fish (Betta sp.) is an ornamental fish that is in great demand by ornamental fish lovers. The characteristics and features of male Betta fish have a higher economic value than female Betta fish. One way to increase the number of male Betta fish to meet market demand is by masculinization. Fish masculinization strategies can be carried out by administering synthetic androgen hormones in the form of 17α-methyltestosterone (MT). Masculinization of fish using MT shows success in fish in increasing the number of male individuals compared to without hormone administration. The use of the synthetic hormone 17α-methyltestosterone has been prohibited in aquaculture activities because it is difficult to degrade naturally and has the potential to pollute the environment. Several other ingredients that can be used as alternatives to replace synthetic hormones are honey. This research uses honey from different types of bees with the aim of getting the best results for the percentage of male Betta fish in masculinization efforts. CRD research method (Completely Randomized Design) with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments applied were T1 (Apis cerana), T2 (Apis mellifera), T3 (Trigona sp.). The best treatment was T3 (Trigona sp.) which had an effect and was very significantly different with a male percentage of 82,63 % followed by T2 (Apis mellifera) which had an effect and was not significantly different with a male percentage of 71,06 %, and T1 (Apis cerana) had an effect. and not significantly different from the male percentage of 64,45 %.

Abstract

Abstract

Natural betta fish is one of the Betta fish that comes from nature and still has high genetic diversity because it has not been crossed with cultivated Betta fish. Many environmental changes affect the reproduction of natural betta fish in their natural habitat, so it is necessary to carry out studies related to the reproductive biology of natural betta fish (Betta picta). This research aims to determine various reproductive biology and the influence of water quality on the gonad maturity level of natural betta fish (B. picta). The research was conducted from October to November 2023 in the Gending River, Mertoyudan District, Magelang Regency, and the Integrated Laboratory of Tidar University. Fish samples were caught using a seser and placed in plastic containers for observation in the laboratory. The gonad maturity level, or GMI, was observed morphologically and analyzed descriptively. The results of this research were that the TKG consisted of TKG I-TKG V, the IKG value was 4.7%, the IG value was 48.2, the HSI value was 0.7%, the sex ratio was 1:1, the relationship between length and weight was allometric negative, and plankton abundance was 166.6ind/l. There was an increase in the second week of observation up to the sixth week.
