Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of gamified learning strategies to enhance student engagement and academic achievement in the Fiqh subject among eighth-grade students at MTs Ma’arif Balong, Ponorogo. Preliminary observations revealed that 59% of students did not meet the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC), largely due to the predominant use of traditional lecture-based instruction, which limited active student participation and resulted in poor content comprehension. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants consisted of 22 students, and data were collected through observation, testing, documentation, and interviews. Data analysis included assessments of test scores, learning outcomes, and student engagement throughout the instructional process. The results indicate a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, rising from 36.36% in Cycle I to 90.91% in Cycle II. Student engagement similarly increased from 49.15% to 86.65%. These findings suggest that gamification is an effective pedagogical approach for improving both student participation and academic performance in Fiqh instruction. It is recommended that educators adopt this method consistently and explore its application in other subject areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of interactive learning in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects under the Independent Curriculum at MIN 5 Ngawi. The Independent Curriculum, which will be implemented nationally in 2024, emphasizes flexibility, contextual learning, and strengthening student character. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the application of interactive learning methods—such as discussions, project-based learning, contextual learning, storytelling, and demonstrations—has proven effective in increasing student motivation and understanding of PAI materials. However, the implementation of interactive learning at MIN 5 Ngawi still faces several obstacles, including limited learning time, logistical constraints, lack of teacher training, and difficulties in integrating information technology. Furthermore, the diversity of student backgrounds demands an inclusive, multicultural approach. Nevertheless, various efforts have been made to optimize PAI learning, including through method diversification, development of learning media, teacher training, and ongoing evaluation. This study recommends the need to strengthen teacher capacity, provide adequate learning resources, and develop an inclusive and adaptive curriculum to meet student needs. Abstract

One of the subject matters contained in Islamic education is Tarikh Islam. Tarikh Islam is one of the required lessons for students to be taught at Darussalam Modern Islamic Boarding School. This lesson teaches about Islamic history, including the stories of Rasulullah, Khulafaur Rashidin, the Companions of Rasulullah, and others. In teaching and learning activities, media is one of the important factors in learning. In view of the scores obtained by grade 3 H students in Islajn bn nb enmic date lessons, there are 20 out of 37 students, or 53% of students, who get scores below the passing score standard. This is due to the lack of innovation in learning activities, so that students become bored and do not pay attention to the lessons taught. And one of the innovations that can be used is with (Tree Chart) media learning. This study aims to improve student activeness and learning outcomes in Islamic date subjects in Class 3 H at Darussalam Modern Islamic Boarding School by using tree chart learning media. This type of research is classroom action research. In this study, researchers, acting as teaching teachers and assisted by an observer who supervises the condition of students, This research consists of the first cycle and the second cycle, which consist of: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques and tools in this study include using descriptive analysis techniques on data in the form of documentation of student learning outcomes, observation sheets, and test results. The results of this study show that (1) the application of tree chart learning media can increase student activity. With the presentation value of student activeness in the first cycle, which reached 61.37% and increased in the second cycle, which reached 84.12%, there was a difference between the first and second cycles, which reached 22.75%. (2) The application of tree chart learning media can improve student learning outcomes. The percentage of students who completed learning in the first cycle in the first cycle was 22 out of 37 students, or 59.45%, with an average score of 5.91, and in the second cycle, as many as 37 students, or 100%, with an average score of 7.78. With the explanation above, it can be concluded that tree chart learning media can increase student activeness and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The mental development of santri is a fundamental aspect of pesantren education in responding to the challenges of character building and the resilience of the younger generation in the contemporary era. At-Tarbiyah Furusiyah Al-Islamiyah, as a physical education program based on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) such as horseback riding and archery, is considered relevant in integrating physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of At-Tarbiyah Furusiyah Al-Islamiyah in the mental development of students, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 24 informants, consisting of caregivers, administrators, trainers, and students. Data analysis was conducted interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that At-Tarbiyah Furusiyah Al-Islamiyah is effective in shaping spiritual mentalities (trust in God and sincerity), ideological mentalities (courage and loyalty), as well as disciplined and resilient mentalities (focus and toughness). The success of the program is supported by the strong pesantren culture and the enthusiasm of the students, while limitations in time, facilities, and parents' understanding become the main obstacles. This study contributes to enriching the study of Islamic physical education as a model for holistic and contextual mental development of students.

Abstract

Character education and official language mastery constitute two fundamental pillars of the curriculum at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG). This study aims to analyze how the thematic discussion method enhances the self-confidence character and language skills of Grade 5 Kulliyatul Mu'allimin Al-Islamiyah (KMI) students at PMDG. The research employed a descriptive qualitative case study involving Grade 5 KMI students and language instructors as the research participants. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and classroom documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings reveal that thematic discussion provides an authentic communicative learning environment that encourages students to express ideas confidently while consistently using Arabic and English as official languages. Students demonstrated noticeable improvements in self-confidence, willingness to participate in discussions, clarity of verbal expression, vocabulary use, and speaking fluency. The integration of thematic content with structured language practice also fostered leadership attitudes, critical thinking, and effective communication. The main contribution of this study lies in demonstrating that thematic discussion functions not only as a language learning strategy but also as an effective character education approach that simultaneously develops self-confidence and communicative competence within an Islamic boarding school context. These findings offer a practical pedagogical model for Islamic educational institutions seeking to integrate character development with foreign language instruction.
