Abstract

Community Service focuses on the importance of empowering teachers in Mental Health Education within schools, particularly in Timika, a remote area in Eastern Indonesia. The frequent and unstable power outages cause difficulties in accessing the internet, and the region’s remote location makes it challenging for school teachers in Timika to obtain information about mental health. The goal of this Community Service initiative is to provide Mental Health Training in Schools Towards Quality Education, which will be implemented to enhance teachers' competencies in handling mental health issues. The ultimate objective is for teachers to become mentally healthy and skilled. As a result of this initiative, a learning environment that supports the emotional and psychological well-being of both teachers and students is created. The method used in this program includes training on children's mental health in the digital era, developing school vision and mission to support mental well-being, conducting social research and innovation, and providing parenting education. Mental health training strengthens the prevention of negative behaviors, thereby influencing the development of quality learning. The results of this program indicate that the training successfully formed a group of teachers who are concerned about mental health. Teachers became more proactive in raising awareness of the importance of mental health in schools. Additionally, this training initiative successfully facilitated educational outreach programs for parents and the surrounding community, both individually and in groups.

Abstract

Character Building and Literacy through Student Journals (PELITA JIWA) is an innovative effort designed to instill character and literacy values ​​in grade 6 students of Neglasari State Elementary School. The background of this program is the challenges in the digital era, where students are more often exposed to technology such as games and social media, so they lack responsibility, empathy, and interest in reading. This program uses the Student Journal Book as a habituation tool to record obligatory worship activities, character, literacy, and daily reflection. The implementation of the program involves several strategic steps, such as determining habituation behavior, socializing plans to parents, providing exemplary examples, and evaluating periodically. Collaboration between teachers, students, and parents is an important aspect in this program showing a significant increase in student behavior during the four months of implementation. Data recorded an increase in the percentage of students who routinely perform obligatory prayers from 79% to 96.6%, book reading activities increased, and habits of maintaining cleanliness such as washing dishes and making beds also experienced a positive trend. In addition, this program increases cooperation between parents and teachers, as well as student awareness of the importance of literacy. PELITA JIWA is effective in forming positive habits in students through structured habituation and exemplary principles. Sustainable strategies are able to change habits into ingrained habits (habituation). With this approach, it can be used as a reference for good practices to support character education and literacy in other schools.

Abstract

Penanaman Karakter dan Literasi melalui Jurnal Siswa (PELITA JIWA) merupakan upaya inovatif yang dirancang untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter dan literasi pada siswa kelas 6 SD Negeri Neglasari. Latar belakang program ini adalah tantangan di era digital, di mana siswa lebih sering terpapar teknologi seperti game dan media sosial, sehingga kurang memiliki tanggung jawab, empati, dan minat membaca. Program ini menggunakan Buku Jurnal Siswa sebagai alat pembiasaan untuk mencatat aktivitas ibadah wajib, budi pekerti, literasi, dan refleksi harian. Pelaksanaan program melibatkan beberapa langkah strategis, seperti menentukan perilaku pembiasaan, menyosialisasikan rencana kepada orang tua, memberikan contoh keteladanan, hingga mengevaluasi secara berkala. Kolaborasi antara guru, siswa, dan orang tua menjadi aspek penting dalam program ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada perilaku siswa selama empat bulan pelaksanaan. Data mencatat kenaikan persentase siswa yang rutin melaksanakan shalat wajib dari 79% menjadi 96,6%, aktivitas membaca buku meningkat, dan kebiasaan menjaga kebersihan seperti mencuci piring dan merapikan tempat tidur juga mengalami tren positif. Selain itu, program ini meningkatkan kerjasama antara orang tua dan guru, serta kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya literasi. PELITA JIWA efektif dalam membentuk kebiasaan positif siswa melalui pembiasaan yang terstruktur dan prinsip keteladanan. Strategi yang berkelanjutan mampu mengubah pembiasaan menjadi kebiasaan yang tertanam (habituasi). Dengan pendekatan ini, dapat dijadikan referensi praktik baik untuk mendukung pendidikan karakter dan literasi di sekolah lainnya

Abstract

This study focuses on creating and assessing an interactive learning media that uses multimarker augmented reality (AR) to improve pedagogical deep learning among vocational students at SMK Gowa. The development process followed the ADDIE model, covering analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The AR application allows students to interact with several 3D virtual objects linked to physical markers, offering an engaging and immersive learning environment suited for vocational subjects. Expert reviews confirmed that the media is accurate, technically sound, and pedagogically appropriate. Testing the application on different smartphones showed it performs well on mid to high-range devices, with minor glitches on lower-end phones that did not affect overall functionality. Feedback from 60 students illustrated strong usability, motivation, and acceptance of the media. Learning assessments before and after the intervention revealed significant gains in student understanding and critical thinking (p < 0.01). Interviews with participants supported these findings, highlighting increased engagement and improved knowledge retention. Overall, the study indicates that AR multimarker media is a practical and effective tool for fostering meaningful and deeper learning in vocational education. The study recommends expanding content, optimizing performance on various devices, and providing teacher support to enhance its use in classrooms. This research adds valuable insights into advancing the role of AR technology in vocational learning to align with modern educational needs.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate Augmented Reality (AR)-based simulation media to enhance the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) competency in Vocational High Schools (SMK). Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the product was designed as an Android application that integrates interactive 3D models of networking devices, marker-based visualization, and guided configuration tutorials. The development process included needs analysis, design, systematic development, implementation, evaluation, and revision stages. Participants were TKJ teachers and Grade XI students from three SMKs in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, expert validation, and pre-test/post-test assessments. The results showed a validity score of 98.14% (very valid), practicality score of 97.09% (very practical), and effectiveness with an N-Gain of 0.97 (high). User responses recorded 85.88% positive feedback, indicating high engagement and perceived usefulness. The findings demonstrate that AR simulation media can effectively bridge the gap between theoretical instruction and practical skill development, especially in schools with limited physical resources. Its portability, ease of use, and alignment with vocational learning principles make it a promising solution for improving instructional quality and supporting the revitalization of vocational education.
