Abstract

The objectives of this research include (1) determining the validity of worksheets based on the WE-ARe learning model for class XI students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City and (2) determining the effectiveness of worksheets based on the WE-ARe learning model in facilitating increased cognitive learning outcomes for class XI students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City. This research is development research with a research design adopting the Thiagarajan 4-D development model. The 4-D development model consists of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The results of the research show (1) the validity of worksheets based on the WE-ARe learning model was obtained on average in the very valid category; (2) LKS based on the WE-ARe learning model effectively facilitate the improvement of cognitive learning outcomes for class XI students at SMAN 6 Ternate City. The t test shows a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.003 0.05, so Hi is accepted and Ho is rejected. The conclusion of the research is that the use of student worksheets (LKS) based on learning models (WE-ARe) warm-up, exploration, argumentation, resumes can facilitate increased cognitive learning outcomes for class XI students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City.

Abstract

RQANI (Reading, Questioning, Answering, Elaboration, and Integration) is a learning model that integrates science and Islamic values. Utilizing modules in the learning process can provide learning opportunities for students to be more independent and motivated to master concepts. The research objectives were to identify (1) the validity of the RQANI module on body defense system material for class XI IPA students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City and (2) the effectiveness of the RQANI learning module in increasing students' understanding of concepts in class XI Science at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City. This research is development research that refers to 4-D development design. The trial was carried out on a limited scale on class XI Science students at SMA Negeri 6 Ternate City. The instruments used in collecting research data consisted of validation sheets for research modules and instruments, response questionnaires, and essay tests to measure understanding of concepts. The research results showed (1) the validity of the RQANI-based learning module on body defense system material by the first validator in the very valid category (90.41) and the second validator in the valid category (79.16); (2) RQANI-based learning modules are effective in increasing concept understanding with 38.46% of students obtaining N-Gain at high criteria; and 38.46% of students gave very good responses and 53.84% of students gave good responses to the RQANI module. Abstract

Argumentation facilitates students’ cognitive activities as they construct scientific knowledge. Studies related to the relationship between conceptual knowledge and argumentation skills in biology learning, especially in animal physiology courses, are still rarely carried out. The primary aim of this study was to determine the correlation between students’ mastery of biology concepts and argumentation skills. A correlational research design was employed. The research sample consisted of 106 fourth semester Biology Education students. The students’ mastery of biology concepts and argumentation skills were evaluated using valid and reliable instruments. Conceptual knowledge measured in this study refers to students’ ability to explain their responses to essay tests on cognitive concepts. Besides, this study also assessed students’ ability to participate in scientific debates and compose written arguments based on the Toulmin's Argumentation Pattern (TAP) framework. This study indicates an association between students’ grasp of biology concepts and their argumentation skills in the ADI class. The regression equation derived from the data analysis is y = 0.608x + 39.05 with a reliability value of 0.179. Meanwhile, there is no strong correlation between conceptual knowledge and argumentation skills in RQA, ADI-Integrated RQA, or traditional classes. This can be influenced by a variety of factors, including students’ inability to adapt and adjust rapidly to the steps introduced into the learning models. Improving argumentation quality can be accomplished through the use of active and innovative learning models or strategies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis proyek terintegrasi scaffolding (Pj4CS) untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi biologi. Jenis penelitian adalah eksprimen semu. Waktu pelaksanaan penelitian ini yaitu pada bulan Agustus 2023. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA Negeri 5 Kota Ternate Kelas XI IPA 1 berjumlah 35 orang diantaranya 18 siswa laki-laki dan 17 siswa perempuan dan IPA 2 berjumlah 35 orang di antaranya 14 siswa laki-laki dan 21 siswa perempuan.  Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini tes tulis berupa soal PG miskonsepsi, angket respon siswa, lembar observasi aktivitas guru dan siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Hasil pengolahan data uji diperoleh hasil data dinyatakan berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Uji hipotesis dengan taraf signifikan 0,05 diperoleh nilai signifikasi 0,000. Maka dapat di simpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis proyek terintegrasi scaffolding (Pj4CS) untuk mengatasi miskonsepsi biologi. Miskonsepsi siswa pada kelas eksperimen mengalami penurunan dari 63,75% menjadi 25,13%

Abstract

The lack of knowledge about Ageratum conyzoides, Mussaenda frondosa, and Curcuma domestica as alternative medicines for treating postpartum infections, because there is still little research and documentation being carried out. Therefore, this research is expected to prove in vivo in order to know the analgesic effect of the combination formulation 3:2:1 extracts of Ageratum conyzoides, Mussaenda frondosa, and Curcuma domestica as therapy for post-partum infections. The research method used a true experimental post-test only control-group design, with 36 pregnant female mice as the test object. Ageratum conyzoides leaves, Mussaenda frondosa, and Curcuma domestica were prepared in a 3:2:1 formulation, with design levels of 40%, 60% and 80%. Analgesic-effect data were analyzed using the ANAVA statistical method and Duncan's test with a significant level of 1%. The results of the analgesic effect were obtained from the average number of S.aureus colonies and the vaginal mucosal fluid secretion index of mice infected with S.aureus. The results showed that the combination formulation of 3:2:1 extracts with a concentration of 30% had a significant effect on growth in S.aureus at a significant level of 1%. It was concluded that the 3:2:1 combination formulation can be recommended as the most effective in inhibiting infection S.aureus.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran biologi dapat dikembangkan melalui pembelajaran aktif melalui penerapan model pembelajaran. Salah satu di antaranya yaitu model pembelajaran WE-ARe. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk (1) menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran WE-ARe terintegrasi metode diskusi terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Halmahera Barat. (2) menganalisis tingkat keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Halmahera Barat yang diajarkan melalui Model Pembelajaran WE-ARe. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif, jenis penelitian yang digunakan ialah eksperimen semu. Populasi dari penelitian ini berjumlah 96 siswa di kelas XI IPA, dengan mengambil sampel 62 peserta didik. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis.  Hasil analisis diperoleh nilai signifikan 0.000. Hal ini menyatakan Hi diterima dan Ho ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) ada pengaruh model pembelajaran Warm-up, Exploring, Argumentation, Resume (WE-ARe) terintegrasi metode diskusi terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI SMAN 2 Halmahera Barat; (2) tingkat keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah penerapan model WE-ARe 26,67% kategori sangat tinggi, 26,67% kategori tinggi, 13,33% kategori sedang.

Abstract

Along with the development of the 21st century, students are required to have high order thinking skills (HOTs). Online teaching and learning has become a necessity for education around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sudden change in the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic had a very significant impact on various aspects of learning, including HOTs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of online learning on high order thinking skills in biology students in the city of Ternate. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. Describe the effect of online learning on high order thinking skills. The population in this study were biology students at a public high school in the city of Ternate, North Maluku, Indonesia. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling. The research sample was biology students at SMA Negeri 4 Ternate and SMA Negeri 8 Ternate, North Maluku with a total of 56 students. The research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The instrument used in this research is an instrument to measure high order thinking skills. The results of this study indicate that the average total high order thinking skills of biology students for analyzing level is 50.44; level evaluate 45.38; levels creating 41.16. This indicates that more efforts are still needed so that students can have adequate HOTs abilities.

Abstract

Collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills are becoming increasingly important in the modern workplace. Integration of learning activities, research, and community service was discovered to be an effective way to develop these abilities in students. The present study employed a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design to examine the effect of the service-learning model on seventeen college students. Observation, interview, and a problem-solving test were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The quantitative data analysis was performed using the parametric pretest and post-test design. The results showed that participants’ problem-solving skills improved after being exposed to the service-learning model, indicated by the significance value of more than 0.05 in the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. Likewise, the qualitative analysis indicated that 95% of the participants considered the SL model effective in improving their problem-solving skills, especially the abilities to explore content, identify problems, solve the problems, and communicate scientific concepts.
