The objective of the study was aimed to analyze the socio-economic factors of consumers on the demand of eggs and analyze the elasticity of egg demand in Malang Raya. The research was conducted in Malang regency, Malang city and Batu city. The research method was conducted by survey. The number of respondents was 150 people so that each region consists of 50 respondents. Data analysis using natural Cobb-Douglas’s logarithm. The results of the analysis showed that the factors that influence the elasticity of egg demand in Malang Raya were the price of laying egg, income, number of family, education and gender. Price elasticity on demand of chicken eggs was elastic with a value of -2.301. The value of income elasticity of chicken egg demand is 0.285 means that it was inelastic, then the egg of chicken was normal. The value of cross price elasticity between demand of chicken eggs against milkfish was -2,289 meaning that milkfish was a substitute for laying egg.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The well-being of tobacco farmers in Indonesia tends to be low due to several influencing factors, including low income, dependence on the cigarette industry, low educational levels, and limited access to technology and information. To enhance their welfare, there is a need to focus on increasing income, improving access to technology, information, and education. The rainy season poses challenges for tobacco farmers as it can cause damage to crops and affect the quality of tobacco. Farmers can explore alternative sources of income by beekeeping. Beekeeping provides additional income, environmental protection, and enhances the quality of agricultural products through pollination. Probolinggo Regency has significant potential for beekeeping due to the availability of food sources, favorable climate, diverse agricultural practices, and community interest. With this potential, farmers in Probolinggo Regency can earn additional income and maintain soil fertility. The key to the success of this program lies in community development approaches and community participation in decision-making. Training and mentoring in honey bee cultivation improve participants' knowledge and skills while ensuring sustainable implementation. Environmental protection programs involving planting flowering plants for honey bees offer dual benefits by providing food and conserving the environment. Introducing honey bee ecotourism is a way to combine sustainable cultivation with nature-based tourism, enhancing conservation awareness. Therefore, empowering communities through beekeeping has many benefits, including improving welfare, environmental protection, developing the honey industry, and increasing national revenue. Moreover, this initiative also opens opportunities for sustainable ecotourism, serving as a source of local revenue and strengthening the country's economy. Keywords: Tobacco farmers, community service, honey bees, diversification.

Abstract

The livestock industry is still struggling with the effects of climate change. All commodities, including beef cattle, are subject to the negative effects of climate change. One such effect is heat stress, which can result in losses in the form of reduced reproduction and productivity as well as welfare losses. The negative effects of climate change must be reduced through prevention, which includes adaptation. Beef cattle farmers make several different modifications. Socioeconomic considerations are one of the many types of factors that can contribute to this modification. This research was conducted in Probolinggo, Sumenep, and Tuban districts because these three areas have the largest beef cattle population in East Java. We interviewed 206 farmers using a questionnaire. The acquired data were examined using quantitative descriptive analysis and STATA 17 software with a multivariate probit model. This study discovered that beef cattle farmers used four adaptation strategies to deal with climate change, such as changing forage types to provide more nutrition; having routine immunization; working with veterinarians to improve biosecurity, vaccination, and animal health; and promoting artificial insemination using high-quality semen. Furthermore, socioeconomic determinants that have a major impact include age, access to credit, farming experience, level of education, access to non-farming income, and access to climate change knowledge. However, gender, family size, and livestock size had no effect on adaptation
