Abstract

Tuna (Thunnus sp.) is the second largest foreign exchange earner after shrimp. One type of tuna which is an export commodity is yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares). Research on the effect of the distribution of sea surface temperature in the Indian Ocean south of Java on the catch of yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) has been carried out at the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishery Port (PPS) from April 8 to April 30, 2021. This study aims to determine the effect of sea surface temperature (SST) on the catch of yellowfin tuna. The research method used was the method of observation and analysis of satellite imagery. Coordinate data and the number of catches were obtained from the Ocean Fishery Port Logbook (PPS) Nizam Zachman. SPL data obtained from satellite imagery Modis Aqua Level 3. The data was obtained and then analyzed using a simple regression test and the F test results of regression analysis showed that the correlation coefficient (R) of 12.7% and the coefficient of determination (R2) of 1,6% means that 1.6% of yellowfin tuna catches are influenced by SST and 98.4% is influenced by other factors. The F test results show that the SPL significance value is 0.332. The conclusion is that changes in SST have no significant effect on the catch of yellowfin tuna.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to see whether addition bentonite to quail rations affected egg weight, shell weight, and shell thickness. For a period of three months, this study was carried out in the cage of Fapet Farm, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Jambi University. The instruments and materials utilized in this investigation were quails aged 49 days, with up to 180 quails, and 20 units of quail cages measuring 60 x 45 x 45 cm each unit, with 9 quails in each unit. Bentonite, yellow corn, fish meal, bone meal, bran, CaCO3, soy meal, premix, lysine, methionine, and oil had been used as diet components. This study used a group randomized design (GRD) with 5 groups and 4 treatments. The treatments were P0 (0% bentonite), P1 (1% bentonite), P2 (2% bentonite), and P3 (3% bentonite). Feed consumption, drinking water intake, egg weight, shell weight, and thickness are among the variables that had been determined. The data collected was analyzed using ANOVA, and Duncan's Multiple Range Test was employed if the treatment had a statistically significant impact on the measured variables. The study found that utilizing bentonite up to 3% had no influence on feed consumption, water consumption, egg production, or egg weight or thickness. Conclusion: The addition of bentonite to quail diets had no effect on egg weight, shell weight, or shell thickness

Abstract

Filter net is a traditional fishing gear designed as a conical bag with small-mesh netting. It operates as a passive tool, intercepting and trapping fish by leveraging the velocity of tidal currents. This study investigates the diversity and comparison of catch yields between daytime and nighttime in Pangkalan Jambi Village, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Data collection consisted of fishermen's catch records. The research employed a survey method with direct field observations. The results revealed that the catch composition of the filter net in Pangkalan Jambi Village comprised 32 species. Daytime catches totalled 5,695 individuals, while nighttime catches amounted to 6,414 individuals. Commonly caught species during both daytime and nighttime included kedukang fish, lomek fish, biang fish, spiny shrimp, red shrimp, and jerbung shrimp. T-test results indicated no significant difference in catch quantities between daytime and nighttime (P > 0.05). The study concluded that the diversity index for daytime and nighttime catches was moderate, the evenness index was high, and the dominance index was low. The frequency of occurrence of the primary catch species during daytime and nighttime exceeded 50%.
