Abstract

Entering the 4.0 industrial revolution, many electronic-based learning media occur to make the learning process becomes more colorful compared to the one-way learning process. Game-based learning is one of the new media that occurs nowadays. Kahoot! is one of the popular game-based learning media that is popularly played in the class. However, the effectiveness of Kahoot!as an assessment media of English lesson is rarely conducted. In this research, the simple linear regression is used as the method. Furthermore, SPSS was used to check the validity and reliability of the questions given to the respondents. Even though there were 65 respondents, the questionnaires could be collected only 39 questionnaires. From the statistic test, the value of t is 5.405 > t table which is 1,998 made H0 is rejected. According to the statistic analysis, it can be concluded that the effectiveness of Kahoot! as an assessment media is only 30%. Some of the respondents argue that it is not very effective especially while showing the rank of the participants.

Abstract

In this study, researchers examined how the implementation of the ESCO method combined with video material media in improving the ability to write English procedure text. This study belongs to Class Action Research. The data analysis method used descriptive quantitative method. The respondents in this study were 44 first-year students of the Applied Bachelor of Public Sector Accounting department of Polytechnic Harapan Bersama who were gathered in one class and given the same treatment. The data were collected using a pretest-posttest assessment and a questionnaire. The data obtained in the form of a pre-test and post-test were analysed to see if there was an increase in the student's ability to write procedural texts. The analysis of the pre-test and post-test scores was combined with the students’ questionnaire which contained students’ opinions regarding the implementation of the ESCO method as a learning method. The results of this study indicated that there is an increase in the student's ability to write procedural texts in English as an improvement between their pre-test and post-test scores.

Abstract

Peningkatan personal branding menjadi salah satu aspek penting dalam mempersiapkan siswa SMK untuk memasuki dunia kerja yang kompetitif. Salah satu cara efektif untuk meningkatkan personal branding adalah melalui pembuatan Curriculum Vitae (CV) yang menarik dan profesional. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa SMK dalam membuat CV berbahasa Inggris menggunakan aplikasi desain grafis Canva. Kegiatan ini dirancang untuk memberikan keterampilan praktis dalam menciptakan CV yang mencerminkan kompetensi dan kepribadian siswa secara optimal, serta dapat meningkatkan daya tarik mereka di mata perusahaan atau lembaga pendidikan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan langsung dengan pendekatan berbasis teknologi, di mana siswa dilibatkan dalam setiap tahap pembuatan CV, mulai dari pengumpulan data pribadi hingga desain akhir. Hasil yang diharapkan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya kualitas CV yang dibuat oleh siswa, yang pada gilirannya dapat memperkuat personal branding mereka dan membuka peluang lebih besar dalam dunia profesional. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan dapat memberikan pengalaman berharga dalam menggunakan alat desain digital, serta meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa dalam konteks profesional.

Abstract

Abstract

Berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris bukanlah sesuatu yang mudah bagi pelajar di Indonesia. Masih banyak pelajar, bahkan mereka yang sedang menempuh pendidikan tingkat tinggi, yang merasa bahasa Inggris sulit untuk dipelajari. Walaupun bahasa Inggris sudah diajarkan sejak SD, namun masih ada siswa yang belum bisa atau kurang percaya diri berkomunikasi dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Sebagian besar masalah mereka adalah kosa kata. Banyak dari mereka yang masih bingung menerjemahkan Bahasa Indonesia ke Bahasa Inggris karena kurangnya kosa kata Bahasa Inggris. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan difokuskan pada pengayaan kosa kata kepada siswa pendidikan tinggi khususnya siswa sekolah menengah kejuruan. Urgensi penguasaan bahasa Inggris demi komunikasi oleh siswa SMK adalah sebagian besar dari mereka ingin melamar pekerjaan setelah lulus. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah metode pembelajaran gamifikasi yang dikenal dengan istilah rantai kata. Tujuannya agar siswa merasa bahwa belajar dan menghafal kosa kata itu menyenangkan untuk dilakukan. SMK N 1 Brebes dipilih menjadi objek pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini karena sekolah tersebut mempunyai visi untuk mempersiapkan siswanya agar mampu bekerja tidak hanya di perusahaan dalam negeri tetapi juga di perusahaan internasional setelah lulus.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris di era globalisasi memiliki peran yang krusial karena menjadi media komunikasi antarnegara. Globalisasi menjadikan Bahasa Inggris sebagai standar global komunikasi atau lingua franca di semua sektor kehidupan, khususnya Pariwisata. Bahasa Inggris dibutuhkan untuk pengembangan dan pengelolaan pariwisata, seperti pemandu wisata dan promosi atau pemasaran. Oleh karena itu, para pelaku Pariwisata dituntut memiliki kecakapan berbahasa Inggris yang dibangun mulai dari pendidikan formal. Kampung Purba Dayu merupakan salah satu potensi wisata di Solo Raya karena menjadi lokasi penemuan artefak tertua di dunia dan terdapat Museum Manusia Purba. Akan tetapi, satuan pendidikan di wilayah tersebut belum sepenuhnya didukung keterampilan Bahasa Inggris, sebagai contoh di MI Sudirman. Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris tidak diajarkan karena tidak ada dalam kurikulum. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris kepada siswa-siswi di MI Sudirman Dayu. Metode pengajaran menggunakan Grammar Translation Method (GTM) dimana pengajar menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dalam proses pengajaran. Materi yang diajarkan berupa pengenalan kosa kata dasar sehari-hari kemudian diakhiri dengan evaluasi tertulis. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan dari total 18 siswa, 13 siswa mendapat nilai sempurna. Tingkat presentase siswa yang mendapat nilai sempurna mencapai 72%. Dapat dikatakan bahwa pengajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan menerapkan Grammar Translation Method berjalan dengan efektif dan tepat sasaran.

Abstract

Kemampuan berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris merupakan kemampuan yang mendukung semua kalangan dalam segala aspek kegiatan di era sekarang ini. Kemampuan ini diperlukan juga oleh siswa – siswi SMK yang nanti diproyeksikan untuk langsung terjun ke dunia kerja. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diadakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa – siswi SMK dalam berkomunikasi menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di SMK N 1 Dukuhturi, Kabupaten Tegal dihadiri oleh kurang lebih 100 peserta. Pengabdi dan tim memberikan materi dengan menerapkan mix method yaitu penggabungan metode presentasi dengan metode praktik. Hasil dari kegiatan PKM yang dilaksanakan selama 2 hari adalah peserta mulai bisa berkomunikasi menggunakan greeting dan parting berbahasa Inggris. Pengabdi menyimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran komunikasi itu adalah pembelajaran praktik dimana bahasa itu haruslah diucapkan.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the use of e-commerce on this smartphone or better known as m-commerce has begun to increase towards social commerce where social commerce is one of the terms that people often use to describe online shop models that utilize social media to promote products, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many more. The purpose of community service activities include empowering SMK students as the next generation of young people through the use of e-commerce and social commerce, fostering awareness of the younger generation and the people of Pekalongan Regency on the importance of using e-commerce and social commerce in improving the quality of life of the community, and introducing the existence of the Bachelor of Applied Public Accounting Program in the Polytechnic of Harapan Bersama Tegal who care and have social responsibility towards the condition of the community, especially students of Ma'arif NU Kajen Vocational School in Pekalongan Regency in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. E-commerce is a term that is often used or heard today related to the internet, where no one knows the meaning of e-commerce clearly. Social commerce is a new phenomenon in the world of e-commerce. The method or method used in conducting community service activities is first by using a survey method, where the team conducts surveys directly to the location for initial data collection. This community service activity was held on Friday and Saturday, 22 to 23 November 2019 from 08.00-12.00 WIB and was attended by 35 students of Ma'arif NU Kajen Vocational School, Pekalongan Regency. This activity was carried out in the form of exposure to the use of e-commerce and social commerce in students of Ma'arif NU Kajen Vocational School, Pekalongan Regency, as well as training in the form of making e-commerce and social commerce online store accounts with the use of smartphones on students of SMK Ma 'arif NU Kajen of Pekalongan Regency. The following details the PKM activities and schedule.
