Abstract

Turgo area is a disaster-prone area of Mount Merapi activity, and it is at high risk of being affected by Mount Merapi activity. Mitigation carried out by the community greatly influences community preparedness in facing disasters. This study aims to determine the correlation between mitigation and the level of community preparedness in facing the volcanic eruption of Mount Merapi in the Turgo area. This study is a descriptive correlative design using a cross-sectional approach. The study's respondents were 131 respondents selected using stratified random sampling techniques. Data was collected through valid and reliable disaster mitigation and disaster preparedness questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test to determine the relationship between mitigation and preparedness variables. The study results showed that the level of community mitigation was mainly in the high category (96.9%), and the level of preparedness was primarily in the good category (93.9%). The analysis results using the Chi-Square test demonstrate no significant correlation between mitigation and preparedness in facing volcanic eruption (p>0.05; r=2,569). This means that there is no statistically significant relationship between mitigation and preparedness. However, there is an optimistic tendency that better mitigation is followed by higher preparedness. Communities with high mitigation tend to be well prepared. This study recommends a more comprehensive approach, including education, disaster simulations, and cross-sector collaboration to improve community preparedness.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is generally suffered by the elderly age group, but currently diabetes mellitus can also occur in adolescence. The main cause of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adolescents is an unbalanced lifestyle, including an unbalanced diet. The study aimed to find out the relationship between adolescents knowledge and attitudes about a balanced diet and preventive measures for type 2 diabetes mellitus at senior high school 10 Yogyakarta. The research design uses a quantitative method with proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The sample of this study was 93 respondents. The data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using Kendal's tau-b Test. The results were obtained between adolescents knowledge about diet with preventive measures for type 2 diabetes mellitus with a p-value of 0.010 (p?0.05) with a positive correlation of r=0.264 (0.2-0.399) and results between adolescents' attitudes about diet with preventive measures for type 2 diabetes mellitus with a p-value of 0.013 (p?0.05) with a positive correlation of r=0.300 (0.2-0.399). Interventions for preventing diabetes mellitus can be carried out, especially healthy living behavior. Future research can examine other factors, such as physical activity.

Abstract

One of the problems experienced by coastal communities in Banaran Village is limited access to education, health care, and public services, which impact the dynamics and well-being of life. The limited access to health care, particularly mental health, significantly impacts the community's quality of life. This is especially true in villages far from the city and experiencing economic instability. Individuals with a quality of life are better able to manage themselves and the problems they face. Therefore, knowledge about mental health is needed so that coastal communities have the same knowledge as other communities. Coastal communities are a vulnerable group due to a lack of mental health literacy. Therefore, mental health literacy is one solution to improving the quality of life of coastal communities. The goal of this activity is to improve the quality of life of coastal communities through Mental Health Literacy. The method used is training that includes education and role-play through self-assessment. The results showed a difference in participants' understanding and skills after being provided with education and role-play on mental health literacy. This increase in cognitive skills allows individuals to think clearly and identify alternative solutions to their problems, thus encouraging them to seek the most effective solutions to avoid conditions that cause mental disorders. Mental health literacy is an alternative solution to problems that can improve the community's quality of life.

Abstract

According to Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data from the last 12 years, the prevalence of strokes in Indonesia is still relatively high. Hypertension prevention aims to keep blood pressure under control. Non-pharmacological management is also required to supplement pharmacological therapy. Deep breathing exercises and head-up 30 degrees are two interventions that can be implemented. This study aimed to measure the influence of deep breathing exercises and head up 30 degrees on stroke patients’ oxygen saturation and blood pressure. This research used a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design involving the recruitment of 60 respondents using a consecutive sampling technique. Head-up 30-degree positions and continuous deep breathing were measured using a digital sphygmomanometer, protractor, and oximeter. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney. The results showed that there was a significant difference in systolic blood pressure which was p=0.000 (p <0.005), and oxygen saturation showed p=0.001 (p <0.005). But there was no significant difference in diastolic blood pressure which was p=0.836 (p> 0.005). Deep breathing exercises and head-ups 30 degrees help control blood pressure in stroke patients.

Purposive sampling was used to determine the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the 180 respondents in this study. The Caregiver Reaction Assessment-Indonesian Version (CRA-ID) was used to measure their burden. Data were analyzed using descriptive and bivariate analyses with independent t-tests and Pearson correlation. Results: The results of the research showed a significant relationship between caregiver burden and age (p-value=0.000), but no relationship was found between gender, marital status, relationship with patients, caregiver education, caregiver job, and income with each p-value 0.756; 0.725; 0.791; 1.000; 0.354 and 0.301. Conclusion: Age was significantly related to caregiver burden in caring for family members who suffered from chronic diseases. Health services were expected to provide adequate information for caregivers about caring for chronic disease patients to reduce caregiver burden.

Abstract

Background: Currently, many nurses experience stress because they have a lot of work. Even though the impact of stress on nurses can affect health services to patients. Therefore, a tool is needed to measure the level of stress at work in nurses.Purpose: The purpose of this research is to transcribe and cross validate the NOSS-21 into Indonesian, and conduct psychometric tests on nurses in Indonesia. Methods: The study used quantitative methods. This study used Brislin's Classic Model for translation and validation. Tests conducted using Pearson product moment and Cronbach Alpha as a construct test. The sample used amounted to 168 nurses who worked for at least 1 year in Islamic hospitals in Yogyakarta. Respondents who were excluded were nurses who worked in polyclinics and pediatric wards.Result: Based on the results, the average value of I-CVI is 1.00, while based on the Pearson product moment test, it can be seen that 18 items are considered valid and 3 items are invalid. Although 3 items were invalid, but based on the importance of the questionnaire domain, the researcher decided to include these 3 items in the study. The reliability of the questionnaire is strongly reliable as the value is 0.899.Conclusion: The Indonesian Nurses' Occupational Stressor Scale 21 (INOSS-21) questionnaire can be used as a questionnaire to measure nurses' occupational stress. The limitation of this study is that the study respondents were only from Islamic hospitals. Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between social support, self-esteem, and resilience on psychological well-being in maritime communities. This study used a correlational design involving 87 respondents with the criteria of maritime communities, living in coastal areas, male or female, and aged 18-65 years old, measured through a modified scale of the Social Support scale, Rosenberg's Self Esteem Scale (RSES), resilience scale, and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale (RPWBS). The results of the analysis showed that social support, self-esteem, and resilience together were predictors of psychological well-being in maritime communities. Partially, social support significantly influenced psychological well-being. This result demonstrates that maritime communities are part of a community that promotes well-being in the psychological, family, and social spheres. Social support, self-esteem, and resilience influence a person's psychological well-being, with social support, resilience, and self-esteem being important indicators of positive mental health. These support helps individuals cope with adverse situations and stressors, while self-esteem fosters self-acceptance, self-responsibility, and self-care.
