Abstract

Prevention of global warming due to high energy consumption and greenhouse gases is a priority for local governments, especially in Pekanbaru City, Indonesia. The use of air conditioning has become a community habit of reducing the temperature of a hot room, but unexpected things can have a negative impact on the surrounding environment. Therefore, this paper provides a simple new idea by using a phase change material (PCM) in the form of an eco-green air cooler system (EGACY) application as a free and passive cooler. EGACY consists of salt hydrates, PCM boxes, iron pipes, fans, solar panels, and batteries as the main components and several other supporting components. The EGACY system works by absorbing cold air and stored by the PCM at night through pipes connected to the outside, then expelled during the day through indoor ceiling vents. The resulting temperature in the room can be controlled at a comfortable temperature from 25°C to 28°C. EGACY is believed to be able to provide the potential for environmentally friendly technology with renewable energy sources.

Abstract

Fiber optics are the right transmission medium to monitor the movement of the human body, one of them is knee activity. Single-mode fiber (SMF) and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) as sensing sensors that can monitor damage to bad conditions of the human joint area so can prevent further damage. The purpose of this study was to design fiber optic-based belts due to macrobending with sinusoidal patterns, determine the relationship of knee benders with average power change of SMF and FBG, measure changes in power loss (L) fiber optics as a function of optical fiber diameter (d) and knee angle, and determine the optimum sensitivity (S) of SMF and FBG in detecting knee bending. The results showed that L of 0.0751 dB and S of 0.017442 dB are the largest values produced from the SMF belt with values d of 12 mm and knee angle of 180°. The values L of 2.0177 dB and S of 0.591382 dB are the largest values produced from FBG belts with values d of 8 mm and knee angle of 180°. The results of this study explain that FBG is more effective to use because it has a higher S value than SMF.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a flipbook-based e-module on particle kinematics for high school physics learning. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. The analysis phase revealed that 58% of students encountered difficulties in learning physics, while 50.7% specifically struggled with force-related materials. The e-module was developed based on student needs and validated by content, design, and language experts. Validation results indicated that the e-module was suitable for use after incorporating suggested revisions. Practicality testing was conducted in two phases: a limited trial involving 18 students and a broader implementation with 35 students. The average practicality level reached 81.2% in the limited trial and 80.6% in the broader implementation, categorizing the e-module as "very practical." This study demonstrates that the flipbook-based e-module effectively addresses students' learning challenges by providing an interactive digital learning resource appropriate for the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to measure and analyze the Excellent Service (Pelayanan Prima) in the Issuance of Birth Certificates at the Kolaka Regency Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil). The research is grounded in the six competencies of excellent service proposed by Priansa (2017): Ability, Attitude, Appearance, Attention, Action, and Accountability. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach and was located at the Disdukcapil Kolaka. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with six informants, including service staff and community members, and field observation, supported by secondary data from literature and documentation (Ade Fitri, 2025). Data analysis utilized the descriptive qualitative technique involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification (Sugiyono, 2017). Findings indicate that overall service implementation is good, particularly in Accountability and Action, with documents processed quickly (3 days, faster than the 5-day target) and confirmed as free of charge. However, service quality is hindered by three main issues : 1) Ability: Shortage of human resources and low public awareness of procedures, leading to incomplete application files; 2) Attitude/Appearance: Staff occasionally display a less focused or indifferent attitude (cuek) during interactions, as reported by applicants, and struggle to manage the unreliable SIAK (Population Information System) due to unstable network connectivity ; and 3) Action: System errors force manual procedures, causing delays not compliant with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The research confirms that these non-optimal competencies inhibit the full realization of Excellent Service. Research Implications: The study highlights the need for a focused effort by Disdukcapil Kolaka to enhance staff technical skills in handling the SIAK system and to improve the non-physical aspects of staff conduct, such as focusing on professionalism and customer-facing communication. Originality/Value: This research is critical as it offers a specific diagnostic assessment of the quality of birth certificate issuance in Kolaka using the comprehensive Priansa (2017) competency model, filling a gap in the literature regarding local public administration performance.
