Abstract

This study investigates bullying done by santri (Islamic boarding school students), which happens in any Islamic boarding school, whether large or small, majority or minority, salafiyah or khalafiyah Islamic boarding schools. As happened in the minority Islamic boarding school in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi, there are indications of bullying by fellow santri. However, the levels in each Islamic boarding school are different. Hence, this study used an ethnomethodological approach to observing individual behavior by taking conscious actions, how they acted, or how they learned in taking these actions. The data were collected through an in-depth interview with the research respondents. Data description and interpretation were carried out since the data collection earlier using the ethnomethodological approach. It did not wait for the data to accumulate a lot. The study results showed that although Islamic boarding school was a minority, it was not necessarily free from the behavior of santri who were bullying other santri. Santri, who did the bullying, resulted from the parents’ formation and unfriendly upbringing while at home, negatively impacting other santri. Meanwhile, the healing of bullying conducted by the Islamic boarding school focused on healing the soul and heart by strengthening the spiritual aspect so that there is a unification of feelings between santri and God.

Professional education is considered relevant to build a healthy and ethical academic culture by prioritizing prophetic values, such as honesty and trust. The implementation of this education in higher education is expected to create a learning ecosystem that not only focuses on academic achievement but also maintains the intellectual dignity and personal integrity of students.

Abstract

In today's modern era, the use of social media is one of the parts that cannot be separated, especially in elementary school students, where the use of social media has the potential to affect students' concentration and motivation to learn. With this study, the aim is to find out  the impact of the use of social media on the concentration and learning motivation of Muhammadiyah Sambisari elementary school students. The use of methods in this study is qualitative descriptive, in nature with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight fifth-grade students, homeroom teachers, and the principal, as well as direct observation of student learning behavior. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, validated through triangulation. The use of social media has a significant impact: 55% of students experience concentration problems (such as loss of focus and drowsiness due to interesting content), while 60% report a decrease in motivation to study (such as laziness and forgetting assignments). However, 45% of students are not distracted, and 40% use social media positively to search for learning materials (e.g., via YouTube). School efforts include banning gadgets at school, religious programs such as praying on time, memorizing the Qur'an, and praying Dhuha in congregation, as well as parenting for parents. The results confirm that the negative impact of social media is more dominant than the positive. The implication of this study is to reveal the importance of collaboration between schools and parents as a form of efforts to handle the use of social media in children, including using a religiosity approach such as the existence of timely prayer programs, tahfidz qur'an, and congregational dhuha prayers which are proof that a religious approach to students can strengthen students' character, but also improve their focus, concentration, and motivation to learn.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mediating role of gratitude in the relationship between self-efficacy and prosocial behavior, and to examine its implications for teacher education management in Indonesia. Teachers’ prosocial behavior plays a vital role in creating a caring, collaborative, and conducive school climate. While self-efficacy is believed to encourage teachers’ involvement in altruistic actions, the psychological mechanism linking self-efficacy and prosocial behavior through gratitude remains underexplored, particularly in collectivist and religious contexts such as Indonesia. This research employed a cross-sectional quantitative survey design. Self-efficacy, gratitude, and prosocial behavior were measured using standardized Likert-type scales administered to in-service teachers, and data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The analysis followed two main stages: (1) evaluation of the measurement model to test reliability as well as convergent and discriminant validity, and (2) evaluation of the structural model to estimate path coefficients, explained variance (R²), effect sizes, and indirect effects using bootstrapping procedures. The findings provide significant evidence for the crucial mediating role of gratitude in linking self-efficacy to prosocial behavior. Teachers with high self-efficacy are more likely to engage in prosocial actions, both directly and through the internalization of appreciation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has become increasingly rampant among students, especially in the very high use of social media. This condition causes psychological pressure in the form of anxiety about being left behind from activities that others achieve. This research aims to understand and analyze the experiences of Muslim students who experience FoMO and how it affects students' productivity and academic focus. This study consisted of 7 informants by Muslim students who were in Yogyakarta and were around 19-22 years old. This research is also a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach that utilizes through semi-structured interviews with students who are pursuing their final projects and are active in using social media. The results of the study show that the most widely used platforms by students are WhatsApp and Instagram platforms where each data is 25%, and the duration of social media use in a day of 11-15 hours is 42.9%. Thus, there are several impacts, namely: (1) emotional, (2) academic distraction, (3) social comparison, (4) procrastination), (5) time management and discipline. Therefore, this study shows that FoMO has a great impact on the appearance of concentration disorders, anxiety, and less productive activities with peers. The implication of this research is that there is a need for special assistance related to emotional and digital literacy for students, so that the use of social media can be controlled in a healthy and good way without interfering with the academic process.

Abstract

The issue of academic integrity is a major concern in the world of higher education, especially in a religious-based environment, where violations such as plagiarism and cheating are still rampant. This study aims to examine the influence of self esteem and social support on academic integrity in students. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method, involving 100 active student respondents from various Islamic universities in Yogyakarta. Data collection was carried out through an online questionnaire, and data analysis using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique with the help of the SmartPLS application. The results of the analysis showed that self esteem had a positive and significant effect on academic integrity (coefficient = 0.697; p < 0.05), as well as social support (coefficient = 0.290; p < 0.05). The R-Square value of 0.963 indicates that independent variables have a very strong contribution in explaining dependent variables. This study concludes that increasing self-esteem and social support have an important role in shaping academic behavior with integrity in students, especially Muslim students. Self-esteem represents variables from within students plays a more important role than social support variables that represent variables from outside students.

Focus on the main study. This is the father’s contribution to implementing the core values of Islamic education, such as monotheism, morals, wisdom, and tarbiyah, which form the foundation for the development of character in students. The method used is a qualitative descriptive study, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that fathers’ participation is still classified as low and not yet well organized, especially in supporting continuity education between school and home. Some factors affecting matter, among other things, are busy work, limited knowledge of literacy in Islam, and the lack of an existing system for effective communication between teachers and guardians, especially fathers. Research recommends strengthening collaboration between schools and families through fathers’ forums, parenting training grounded in the values of the Qur’an, and the development of an integrated monitoring system to support and optimize the role of fathers as strategic partners in school management of the curriculum. Implications from the study. This emphasizes the importance of integrating the role of parents into planning and implementing the curriculum as part of comprehensive, value-oriented Islamic education.

Abstract

This research aims to reconstruct the value of Ukhuwah Islamiyah as a cultural system in Islamic organizations, grounded in the local values of Islamic boarding schools through the Panca Jiwa Pondok framework. Islamic organizations, especially pesantren, face challenges in aligning traditional values with contemporary organizational practices. A systematic review using the PICOS approach was conducted, analyzing 23 quantitative studies retrieved from Scopus and Google Scholar. The findings reveal four key dimensions of Ukhuwah Islamiyah in organizational settings: spiritual bonding, collective empathy, relational leadership, and deliberation. These dimensions significantly enhance organizational commitment, job satisfaction, loyalty, and Islamic performance across pesantren, madrasah, and Islamic higher education institutions. The study contributes by offering a novel conceptual model of Organizational Ukhuwah that integrates Panca Jiwa Pondok’s traditional values with contemporary organizational psychology. This model provides practical guidance for pesantren leaders and policymakers to foster inclusive decision-making, strengthen leadership training, and build a supportive climate based on spiritual and collective values. The research suggests further exploration of the practical implementation of this model in diverse Islamic institutions.
