Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of web-based mathematics teaching materials using Moodle from the Learning Management System (LMS) with a Contextual Approach to Geometry in the eighth grade of junior high school. This research is development research by adapting the Borg and Gall development model, consisting of expert validation, small group trials, and large group trials. It uses the t-test to measure product effectiveness. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and written tests. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively using descriptive and inferential statistics. The effectiveness test results show that the t-table value is 2,988, with a significant level of 0.012 smaller than 0.025 (0.012 <0.025). Based on these results, Ho is rejected, so there is an average difference between the experimental class and the control class. Based on these results, it can be stated that the product developed in the form of an E-mathematical module with a contextual approach effectively improves student learning outcomes in geometry material.

Abstract

The research conducted in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Insan Cendekia Serpong with quasi-experimental design aims to find out the effect of scaffolding technique on students’ ability of mathematical reasoning (KPM) and mathematical anxiety (KM) viewed from gender. The research sample is class X of science students (MIPA) which consist of 87 students; 41 male and 46 female obtained by cluster random sampling technique. The research data was obtained from the KPM test result and KM questionnaire filling and processed with two-track anava and t-test to answer the research hypothesis. The findings of this research are: (1) students’ KPM who were taught with scaffolding technique is higher than the conventional; (2) there is no interaction between learning techniques and gender to KPM; (3) KPM of male students who were taught with scaffolding technique is higher than the conventional; (4) there is no difference of KPM between group of female students who were taught with scaffolding and conventional technique; (5) there is no difference of KM between group of students who were taught with scaffolding and conventional technique; (6) there is no interaction between learning techniques and gender to student’s KM; (7) there is no difference of KM between male students who were taught with scaffolding and conventional technique; (8) there was no difference of KM between female students who were taught with scaffolding and conventional technique.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal non-rutin materi pecahan ditinjau dari siswa self-confidence tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis studi kasus. Penentuan partisipan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Partisipan yang diambil adalah 3 dari 25 siswa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini, yaitu tes tertulis, angket, dan wawancara. Jawaban siswa yang diperoleh, dianalisis menggunakan teori Newman Error Analysis (NEA). Hasil penelitian diperoleh: Siswa self-confidence tinggi melakukan; kesalahan memahami: tidak menuliskan informasi penting; kesalahan transformasi: menuliskan prosedur tidak tepat karena keliru memahami soal; kesalahan keterampilan proses: kurang paham konsep perkalian pecahan; kesalahan pengkodean: menuliskan hasil yang salah karena salah prosedur dan hitung. Siswa self-confidence sedang melakukan; kesalahan memahami: tidak jelas dalam menuliskan apa yang ditanyakan; kesalahan transformasi: kesulitan membuat prosedur matematika jika soal yang diberikan tidak sama dengan contoh sebelumnya; kesalahan keterampilan proses: kurang paham konsep perkalian pecahan; kesalahan pengkodean: menuliskan hasil yang salah karena salah prosedur dan hitung. Siswa self-confidence rendah melakukan; kesalahan memahami: tidak menuliskan informasi penting; kesalahan transformasi: tidak menuliskan prosedur yang tepat karena nilai yang dimasukkan tidak berdasarkan perhitungan matematika; kesalahan keterampilan proses: ceroboh dalam berhitung; kesalahan pengkodean: menuliskan hasil yang salah karena salah prosedur dan hitung.

Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan abad 21 yang perlu dikembangkan dalam dunia pendidikan adalah berpikir komputasi. Pengembangan kemampuan berpikir komputasional perlu memperhatikan faktor yang mempengaruhi, contohnya adalah Mathematics self-concept (MSC) dan Kemampuan Awal Matematika (KAM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir komputasional dengan perbedaan MSC pada siswa dengan KAM tinggi. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Kemampuan berpikir komputasional terdiri atas empat komponen, yaitu dekomposisi, abstraksi, pengenalan pola, dan berpikir algoritmik. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan instrumen tes dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh bahwa perbedaan MSC siswa sangat berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir komputasional yang dimiliki siswa. KAM juga berperan penting pada saat proses pengenalan pola dan berpikir algoritmik. MSC positif dan KAM tinggi memampukan siswa melakukan semua komponen berpikir komputasional, sedangkan MSC negatif menjadi kendala karena siswa kurang antusias dan tidak mau memperbaiki jika kesalahan terjadi. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya yaitu perlu dilakukan pengembangan kemampuan berpikir komputasional dengan sebelumnya meningkatkan KAM dan MSC siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal Open-Ended ditinjau dari gaya kognitif dan gender. Metode penelitian pada penelitian ini yaitu kulalitatif dengan jenis studi kasus deskriptif. Teknik pengambilan sampel yakni purposive sampling dengan subjek penelitian 4 siswa laki-laki bergaya kogntif FI, 4 siswa laki-laki bergaya kogntif FD, 4 siswa perempuan bergaya kognitif FI dan 4 siswa perempuan bergaya kognitif FD. Instrumen pada penelitian ini adalah Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT), Soal Open-Ended dan wawancara. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dengan tringulasi data yakni reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini yakni, kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis jika ditinjau dari gaya kognitif berbeda-beda, subjek bergaya kognitif field independent (FI) mempunyai kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan subjek bergaya kognitif field dependent (FD). Selain gaya kognitif, jika ditinjau dari gender juga terdapat kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang berbeda-beda, kemampuan subjek laki-laki dalam berpikir kreatif matematis lebih baik dari pada subjek perempuan.

Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil diskusi yang dilakukan bersama dengan Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Sukabumi, masih banyak permasalahan-permasalahan yang ditemukan dalam pembelajaran di kelas, misalnya pembelajaran berjalan satu arah hanya dari guru kepada peserta didik, metode yang digunakan kebanyakan ceramah sehingga suasana pembelajaran menjadi bosan, pemilihan media pembelajaran monoton dan tidak variatif, motivasi belajar peserta didik rendah, serta kurangnya perhatian peserta didik selama proses pembelajaran. Maka dari itu tim pengabdian melakukan pelatihan kepada guru menengah di SMPN 1 Sukaraja agar dapat menciptakan pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif dengan menggunakan Aplikasi ClassPoint. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan pelatihan ini adalah metode presentasi mengenai pengenalan software, kemanfaataannya, dan penerapannya dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran interaktif, serta metode demonstrasi mengenai pengoperasionalisasian program. Terdapat kendala dalam pelatihan yaitu kurangnya waktu yang diberikan dan akses jaringan yang sulit. Based on the results of discussions held together with the Sukabumi District Education Office, there are still many problems found in classroom learning, for example learning goes in one direction only from the teacher to the students, the method used is mostly lectures so the learning atmosphere becomes bored, the choice of learning media monotonous and not varied, low student learning motivation, and lack of student attention during the learning process. Therefore, the service team conducted training for secondary teachers at SMPN 1 Sukaraja so they could create interesting and interactive learning using the ClassPoint Application. The method applied in this training activity is a presentation method regarding the introduction of software, its benefits, and its application in creating interactive learning media, as well as a demonstration method regarding the operationalization of the program. There are obstacles in training, namely the lack of time given and difficult network access.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan M-APOS terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam belajar matematika. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 13 Tangerang dan SMP Negeri 4 Tangerang tahun ajaran 2015-2016. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode quasi experiment. Sampel penelitian diperoleh melalui teknik random sampling sebanyak 100 siswa yang terbagi menjadi 50 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 50 siswa kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian telah diuji cobakan kepada 36 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 13 Tangerang. Setelah melalui proses uji validitas dengan rumus Product Moment didapat 7 soal yang valid dari 7 soal yang ada serta reliabel dengan rumus Alpha Cronbach. Sebelum data di analisis, dilakukan uji prasyarat yaitu uji normalitas menggunakan uji Liliefors dan uji homogenitas menggunakan Levene-Test. Setelah dilakukan perhitungan didapat bahwa data kedua kelompok berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji-t diperoleh dan 1,6637. Karena maka ditolak. Simpulannya adalah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dengan menggunakan pendekatan M-APOS dan pembelajaran ekspositori. Hal ini juga menyatakan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang diberi perlakuan pendekatan M-APOS lebih tinggi dibandingkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang diberi pendekatan ekspositori.

Abstract

Mistakes frequently occur among students when interpreting mathematical problems or engaging with math exercises. This has contributed to the low PISA results in 2022, particularly reflected in a decline in mathematical proficiency, with Indonesia's average score decreasing by 1-3 points compared to previous assessments. Consequently, there is a pressing need to investigate the errors committed by students. This study aims to identify student errors through the lens of Newman's theory while addressing critical thinking ability questions in relation to cognitive style. The research design is descriptive qualitative, as it elucidates the mistakes made by students. The subjects of this study comprised 27 out of 84 seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri 139 Jakarta, who exhibited errors in responding to critical thinking ability questions involving combined material on flat-sided geometric shapes. The findings and conclusions of this study reveal that students with a Field Dependent (FD) cognitive style and those with a Field Independent (FI) cognitive style encounter reading errors, understanding errors, process skill errors, and coding errors; however, students with an FI cognitive style tend to make fewer mistakes than their FD counterparts.

Abstract

Mathematics has an important role for improving attitudes and behavior through critical thinking. The learning method that can be applied to improve critical thinking skills is the dialogue method. Dialogue activities will provoke students to be more active in learning and educators can gather information, generate responses, focus students' attention, and test students' understanding. Socrates and Paulo Freire are two important figures who apply the dialogue method in learning. This research aims to describe the philosophical review of Socrates' dialogues and Paulo Freire's dialogues and their implementation in learning mathematics. The research method used is qualitative with library research. The result of this study is that the researcher found that the dialogue method can create an interesting and interactive classroom atmosphere. Through the dialogue process, educators can facilitate students to hone and improve their critical thinking skills

Abstract

One of the abilities that is very important to pay attention to in learning mathematics is students' mathematical communication skills. In addition to mathematical communication abilities, other aspects must be considered and support students' success in mathematics, including self-confidence. Students with high self-confidence can understand and express their ideas or ideas in language and mathematical symbols to convey information or opinions through speech or writing. This study aims to provide an overview of students' Mathematical Communication Ability in terms of Self-confidence through a Problem Based Learning (PBL) Approach. The method used is descriptive, describing the results of a literature review of at least 25 relevant articles. The results of this study are that there is a positive relationship between students' self-confidence and mathematical communication abilities and the Problem Based Learning Approach is effective in improving students' mathematical communication skills and self-confidence
