Abstract

This research is limited to the students’ perspective toward the use of photovoice in the teaching and learning process. The objective of this study is to explore the perspective of students about the use of photovoice on the teaching and learning process in speaking class. The research use qualitative interview study with a descriptive design. The researchers collected the data by individual semi-structured interviews. The writter choose telephone inteview with current conditions (Covid 19). Data analysis used is thematic analysis by (Braun, Virginia & Clarke, 2006). Interview were transcribed verbatim to ensure data integrity by double-checking the transcripts with recorded interviews.The researh findings show 7 theme based on interview with students who describe their perspectives and experiences in learning photovoice. These themes are: 1) experiences, 2) social, 3) intellectual, 4) speaking, 5) emotion, 6) challanges and difficulties, and 7) future direction of photovoice

Abstract

This research will examine students'' perspectives on learning public speaking using the YouTube software due to a exchange in mastering styles that at the start used traditional patterns to on-line studying styles because of the covid 19. In previous research, it was found the effectiveness of learning using video in this study, researchers will explore from the students'' point of view.Phenomenological research student''s perspective they feel that learning public speaking using the YouTube application makes it very easy for them or is very effective in learning public speaking.student''s perspective is very effective but the impact of pademic still leaves discomfort in learning but the existence of this application can be an alternative.

Abstract

This research delves into the exploration of enhancing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students' confidence in speaking through the use of narrative text, specifically employing the movie "Up" within an Indonesian private university context. The primary research problem is framed as "How can students' speaking experience be influenced by the 'Up' movie in narrative text?" The study aims to understand the impact of using "Up" movie on students' speaking abilities in a narrative context. A qualitative research approach was employed for data collection, utilizing interviews as the primary method. The qualitative data analysis involved four key steps: Coding, Data Reduction, Data Presentation or Display, and Drawing Conclusions.

Abstract

This research study is to explore the perception of students majoring in English who are writing their thesis regarding the accuracy of Google Translate in reducing lexico-grammar errors among students at private universities in Jember, Indonesia. There were ( N = 6 ) student who were willing to participate in this study. Qualitative method and semi structured interviews were conducted to explore their feeling in depth with the students who were the respondents. The results showed that Google Translate could not reduce grammar errors, there were still some errors in student thesis writing. Students need to check the translation result and correct them. Google Translate help students revise their writing to produce good writing that is free from grammatical errors.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how high the level of anxiety is among students, especially English Language Learners, they really experience difficulties in speaking which causes self-confidence and anxiety problems. Storytelling can improve speaking skills but poses difficulties due to previously exclusive online learning. Storytelling significantly benefits English learning in the new normal era, boosting  confidence  and  outcomes.  While  students  generally  express  interest, some  remain  hesitant.  Inconsistent  media  use  by teachers  needs  rectification. Anxiety persists, especially in remote learning due to physical restrictions and limited social interaction. Teachers must creatively engage students, utilize technology, and foster a supportive environment to address these issues and optimize storytelling's benefits.

Abstract

This study aimed to research an experimental research in teaching English listening material using English film for the Eleventh grade students of SMK Full Day Bustanul Ulum, The design English Teaching Material to improve the listening skill’s students in SMK Full Day Bustanul Ulum. The research in this study is designing English teaching material using English film to increase students’ listening skill. In this context of the research the researcher designed the listening material in the vocational high school especially in SMK Full Day Bustanul Ulum by focused on quantitative data of Experimental reseach. The data in this research were taken with a round of the object study. The steps of the study are pre and posttests, plan, implementation and questionnaires. The data were analyzed as the teaching materials for designing listening teaching materials that relevant with the vocational school. And then, the syllabus was designed based on the curriculum 2013.
