Abstract

Informal transportation such as motorcycle taxi stands at Mardika Market, Ambon City plays a crucial role in community mobility, yet the emergence of online transportation creates new challenges for drivers’ income. This study aims to analyze the income level of motorcycle taxi drivers and the factors influencing it. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with ten drivers. Findings reveal that the average income ranges from IDR 2,050,000 to 3,700,000 with operational costs between IDR 550,000 and 950,000, alongside a decrease in passengers after the arrival of online platforms. Key factors affecting income include working hours, fares, and ownership of side jobs. The study highlights how drivers sustain their livelihoods through adaptive strategies despite intense competition with app-based services. These results enrich the discourse on the sustainability of informal labor while providing insights for local governments and transport associations to design supportive policies.

Abstract

The effectiveness gap between traditional and student-centered learning approaches necessitates a systematic evaluation. This study aims to compare students’ learning outcomes in social studies using contextual and conventional instructional methods. Employing a quasi-experimental design without a control group, data were collected from two different classes and analyzed using a t-test. The findings revealed that the contextual approach resulted in higher average scores than the conventional method. This highlights the importance of learning connected to real-life experiences. The approach fosters active and collaborative student engagement, leading to more equitable and meaningful academic achievement. This research contributes to the understanding of the impact of context-based instructional strategies in secondary education. The results are relevant for educational policy development and teacher professional growth. It is recommended that contextual learning be broadly integrated into social studies instruction to enhance students’ comprehension and support the development of their critical thinking skills

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the micro-enterprise sector, including traditional market traders. This study aims to analyze changes in the income of staple goods traders at the Transit Market in Passo before and after the pandemic. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto design was employed. The sample consisted of 15 permanent traders selected purposively. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using linearity tests (ANOVA) and the Paired Sample t-Test. The results show that the average daily income of traders decreased from IDR 7,000,000 to IDR 3,700,000. The ANOVA test indicated a significant linear relationship between pre- and post-pandemic income (Sig. = 0.001), with no deviation from linearity (Sig. = 0.637). The Paired Sample t-Test confirmed a statistically significant difference (t = 10.104; Sig. = 0.000). In conclusion, the Covid-19 pandemic had a real impact in reducing the income of traders at the Transit Market in Passo. These findings highlight the need for targeted local economic recovery policies, including capital assistance, business training, and strengthening the traditional market system

Abstract

The growing demand for facial care products drives consumers to seek both quality and affordability. This study aims to analyze the influence of product quality and price on purchasing decisions of Garnier Micellar Water among Ambon City residents. A quantitative associative method was applied through questionnaires distributed to 60 respondents. Regression analysis shows that both product quality and price have a positive and significant effect, individually and simultaneously, on purchase decisions. These findings suggest that consumers' perceptions of quality and price-benefit alignment play a vital role in shaping their final decisions. The determination coefficient of 27.4% reflects the contribution of these two variables to purchasing behavior. This study offers new insights that local consumer preferences are shaped by a combination of value perception and brand trust. It is recommended that producers maintain product quality, set competitive prices, and enhance brand communication through promotional strategies tailored to community needs
