Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of different pedagogical exemplars for teaching mathematics across various learning styles using multimedia technology. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design. The experimental group received the intervention through an interactive computer presentation program, while the control group used the standard dialogue and discussion techniques. The study used survey questionnaires adapted from BARSCH's Learning Style Inventory and self-made pre-and post-tests to measure students' learning and engagement. The research findings revealed that students with different learning styles benefited differently from multimedia-assisted instruction, suggesting the importance of considering individual differences in instructional design. The use of multimedia technology in teaching mathematics facilitates the learning process of students with different learning styles. The results of this study also support the importance of using statistical analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions and to inform evidence-based decision-making in education. This study identified the most effective pedagogical exemplars for each learning style and highlighted the benefits of interactive media teaching mathematics. These findings suggest that teaching methods that align with students' learning styles can improve academic performance

Abstract

This research aims to know: 1) the relationship between the background education of teachers of the vocational mining with student learning achievements, 2) the relationship of teaching professionalism with the learning performance of students, 3) the relation of background education teacher of the professional mining to the professionalism teaching. This is an expost-facto study. Research subjects of 45 SMK State and Private Pematangsiantar teachers. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. Data analysis techniques using correlation test analysis using SPSS 22.0 Research results: (1) there is a positive relationship between the educational background and the student’s learning performance of 24% and it is not significant that it is likely that the education background may not directly affect the students’ learning performance. It is expected that professional teachers to always improve the quality of teaching professionalism and pursue higher education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Project Based Learning (PjBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis pada materi ukuran pemusatan data di kelas X SMA Negeri 8 Medan Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi experimen dengan teknik purposive sampling. Kelas X-1 sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan kelas X-2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes uraian sebanyak empat soal, diberikan pada saat pre-test dan post-test. Hasil analisis data menggunakan uji t dengan bantuan SPSS menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah di kelas eksperimen sebesar 86,70, sedangkan di kelas kontrol sebesar 73,29. Sementara itu, rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis di kelas eksperimen sebesar 86,19 dan di kelas kontrol adalah 73,83. Dengan nilai Signifikansi(Sig. 2-tailed) sebesar 0,00 < 0,05, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Ada pengaruh model Project Based Learning (PjBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah. (2) Ada pengaruh model Project Based Learning (PjBL) terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa.

Abstract

Model pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa mengaitkan materi dengan kehidupan nyata. Model pembelajaran tersebut adalah Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) atau pembelajaran kontekstual Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa melalui Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada pembelajaran perbandingan di SMP Free Methodist 1 Medan. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII-B SMP Free Methodist 1 Medan yang berjumlah 44 siswa. Objek penelitiannya adalah peningkatan motivasi belajar pada mata pelajaran perbandingan dengan menggunakan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Tingkat motivasi siswa di peroleh dari angket yang di bagikan. Hasil menunjukan bahwa penerapan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar. Peningkatan motivasi belajar dari evaluasi Siklus I dan Siklus II dengan presentase Siklus I 62%, dan pada siklus II 71%, Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat di simpulkan bahwa peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa melalui Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) pada materi pembelajaran perbandingan di SMP Free Methodist 1 Medan di katakan berhasil.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan Think Pair Share (TPS) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada materi sifat-sifat eksponen di kelas X SMK Free Methodist Medan Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest group design. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh siswa kelas X SMK Free Methodist Medan, dengan sampel dua kelas, yaitu kelas X RPL yang diajar menggunakan model Jigsaw dan kelas X TKJ yang diajar menggunakan model TPS. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes uraian yang disusun berdasarkan indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t dua sampel independen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan signifikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang diajar dengan model Jigsaw dan TPS (sig. 0,023 < 0,05), dan (2) model pembelajaran Jigsaw lebih baik dibandingkan dengan model TPS dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa (sig. 0,011 < 0,05). Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Jigsaw direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang lebih unggul untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis pada materi eksponen di tingkat SMK.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there are differences in mathematical reasoning abilities between students who use the Problem Based Learning learning model and the Discovery Learning on Social Arithmetic material at Imelda Private Junior High School Medan. The type of research conducted in this study is a quasi-experimental using pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were all seventh grade students of Imelda Private Junior High School Medan which consisted of 3 classes. From this population, the samples of this study were class VII-C and VII-A. Due to the Covid situation, only 15 students were sampled in this study. Based on the results of research and processing, it is concluded that there are differences in the mathematical reasoning abilities of students who use the Problem Based Learning learning model with the Discovery Learning on Social Arithmetic material at Imelda Private Junior High School Medan. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah murid pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV) di kelas VIII SMP Swasta HKBP Sidorame Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya keterampilan murid dalam mengomunikasikan ide matematis serta menyelesaikan permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari.Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek 14 murid kelas VIII. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri atas tes uraian kemampuan komunikasi matematis, tes pemecahan masalah, dan wawancara. Data dianalisis melalui uji validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran, dan daya pembeda, kemudian disajikan secara deskriptif berdasarkan indikator yang ditetapkan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis murid berada pada kategori sedang, dengan 14,29% murid pada kategori tinggi, 57,14% pada kategori sedang, dan 28,57% pada kategori rendah. Pada aspek pemecahan masalah, diperoleh 21,43% murid berada pada kategori tinggi, 64,29% pada kategori sedang, dan 14,28% pada kategori rendah. Murid relatif mampu menyatakan ide matematis dalam bentuk visual maupun tulisan serta menyusun rencana penyelesaian, namun masih kesulitan dalam menafsirkan ide dan memeriksa kembali hasil jawabannya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan pemecahan masalah murid tergolong sedang sehingga diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih variatif untuk meningkatkan kedua kemampuan tersebut

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of cooperative learning models, Jigsaw and Think Pair Share (TPS), on students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities in the topic of exponent properties among tenth-grade students at SMK Free Methodist Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest group design. The population consisted of all tenth-grade students at SMK Free Methodist Medan, while the sample included two classes: class X RPL taught using the Jigsaw model and class X TKJ taught using the TPS model. The research instrument was an essay test developed based on mathematical problem-solving indicators, and the data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test.The results of the study indicate that: (1) there is a significant difference in mathematical problem-solving abilities between students taught with the Jigsaw and TPS models (sig. 0.023 < 0.05), and (2) the Jigsaw learning model is more effective than the TPS model in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities (sig. 0.011 < 0.05). Therefore, the Jigsaw learning model is recommended as a superior alternative cooperative learning strategy to enhance students’ mathematical problem-solving skills in the topic of exponents at the vocational high school level

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ mathematical communication skills and problem-solving abilities on the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV) in Grade VIII of SMP Swasta HKBP Sidorame in the Academic Year 2025/2026. The background of this research is the low level of students’ skills in communicating mathematical ideas and in solving problems related to real-life situations.This research is a descriptive qualitative study with 14 eighth-grade students as the subjects. The instruments used consisted of an essay test on mathematical communication skills, a problem-solving test, and interviews. The data were analyzed through validity testing, reliability testing, difficulty level, and discriminating power, and then presented descriptively based on the established indicators.The results of the study indicate that students’ mathematical communication skills fall into the medium category, with 14.29% of students in the high category, 57.14% in the medium category, and 28.57% in the low category. In terms of problem-solving skills, 21.43% of students were in the high category, 64.29% in the medium category, and 14.28% in the low category. Students were relatively able to express mathematical ideas in both visual and written forms and to develop a solution plan, but they still experienced difficulties in interpreting ideas and reviewing their answers. The study concludes that students’ mathematical communication and problem-solving skills are in the medium category, thus more varied learning strategies are needed to improve these two abilities.
