Abstract

Identity politics in Indonesia is often influenced by social dynamics that are discriminatory towards gender. The concept of Mubadalah, meaning reciprocal or mutual, offers an inclusive approach to addressing gender injustice. This research examines the implementation of Mubadalah in transforming identity politics in Indonesia from 2009 to 2023. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature analysis, in-depth interviews with politicians, activists, and gender experts, as well as policy document analysis and election data. Findings indicate that Mubadalah-based education successfully changes traditional views on gender roles. Public policies adopting Mubadalah principles enhance women's representation in politics. Despite challenges from conservative groups, successes in several regions demonstrate the substantial potential of Mubadalah to achieve gender equality and justice in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and analyze the reconstruction of nyentana marriage in Balinese society from a gender equality perspective. Nyentana marriage, which involves the groom living with the bride's family, is a unique tradition that has the potential to elevate the status of women and promote gender equality. However, negative stigma towards this type of marriage still exists in certain segments of Balinese society, as it is considered to conflict with the dominant patrilineal customary norms. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method in several regions of Bali, including Tabanan, Gianyar, and Badung. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with couples practicing nyentana marriage, customary leaders, and religious figures, as well as participatory observations during nyentana wedding ceremonies. Thematic analysis was employed to identify the factors influencing the acceptance or rejection of this tradition and its impact on gender equality. The research findings indicate that despite challenges posed by negative stigma, nyentana marriage has the potential to alter social structures and strengthen the position of women in Balinese society. Therefore, the role of customary institutions and religious leaders is crucial in supporting a better understanding of gender equality through this tradition. This research is expected to provide new insights into how the nyentana marriage tradition can contribute to achieving gender equality goals and support sustainable development in Bali.

Abstract

Stingless bees (Tetragonula laeviceps), commonly known as Klanceng honey bees, have significant ecological and economic value. Their role in pollination contributes to biodiversity conservation, while their honey has high market potential due to its medicinal properties. This community service program aims to introduce and develop sustainable stingless bee farming among local communities as an alternative source of income. The activities include theoretical and practical training on colony management, hive maintenance, honey extraction, and product marketing. Participants are also educated on the ecological benefits of stingless bee conservation to promote environmental awareness. The results of this program indicate a positive response from the community, with increased knowledge, skills, and motivation to engage in stingless beekeeping. By fostering sustainable beekeeping practices, this initiative is expected to enhance local economic resilience while contributing to environmental preservation.

Abstract

This research is based on the increasing divorce rates, where external factors such as economic instability, social pressure, and psychological incompatibility further exacerbate marital conflicts. The aim of this research is to identify and analyze the influence of these three factors in the decision-making process of couples divorcing. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, supported by both primary and secondary data collected through interviews and documentation. The results show that economic difficulties, social neglect, and psychological incompatibility play a significant role in triggering divorce. Economic factors such as the inability of couples to meet basic needs, social factors such as stigma and family pressure, and psychological factors such as lack of effective communication, are the primary triggers for the decision to separate. In conclusion, divorce is not only caused by individual differences but also by collective pressures that disrupt marital balance. The implications of this research suggest the need for policies that support couples in facing socio-economic challenges to reduce divorce rates and maintain family harmony.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the representation of Islamic law in the Sakura tradition practiced in Tanggamus Regency, Lampung. The Sakura tradition is a festive cultural celebration among the indigenous Lampung community, characterized by the use of masks, changes in appearance, and culminating in a communal pole-climbing event known as beguai jejama. In the context of modernization, there has been a shift in the understanding of religious values embedded in this tradition, particularly among younger generations who are more exposed to popular culture. This research employs a qualitative approach with fieldwork methods, including participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The main focus is on how values in Islamic law—such as justice, deliberation (musyawarah), and human rights—are integrated into the practice of the Sakura tradition. The findings reveal that although rooted in local culture, the Sakura tradition has strongly internalized Islamic values. Decision-making processes are conducted through deliberation, and community rights are respected, demonstrating a harmonious integration between customary law and Islamic law. Theoretically, this study highlights the importance of an integrative approach between Islamic law and local traditions in sustaining cultural practices and strengthening the legal identity of the community. With a wise and contextual approach, the Sakura tradition can continue to be preserved without contradicting Islamic teachings, serving as a medium for cultural da'wah and reinforcing social cohesion and interfaith harmony within a multicultural society.
