Abstract

This study examines the impact of carbon footprint reduction and increased market returns on ESG, aiming to fill the gap in understanding the real effects of ESG reporting, particularly on carbon footprints and market returns in US companies listed on the NASDAQ from 2014 to 2022. The dependent variable of this study is market return, measured from EPS. This study also uses two independent variables to investigate the companies' sustainability (ESG disclosure and GHG scope 1). ESG disclosure exhibits a positive and significant relation towards EPS. On the other hand, GHG scope 1 shows a negative and significant relationship with EPS. This suggests that improved ESG reports and reduced emissions will enhance the company's financial performance, leading to increased EPS and attracting more investors. However, the need for further research to solve the discrepancies and investigate other variables affecting the connection between emissions, financial performance, and ESG disclosure is urgent and of utmost importance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to study how work environment and workload impact employee performance at PT Dharma Kyungshin Indonesia, with work stress as the main mediating variable. The background of this study deviates from the importance of employee performance to support the productivity and competitiveness of the company, especially in the motorized transportation sector, which produces high production pressure. This study was conducted with a quantitative approach and using descriptive methods. A total of 150 employees were used in this study as samples, a total population of 250 employees. Data analysis techniques used validity, reliability, classical assumptions, regression, and mediation tests. This study identified a significant impact of workload and work environment on work stress. Workload has a large negative impact on employee performance, but the work environment has a large positive effect. However, work stress has a large impact on performance. Work stress does not significantly communicate the relationship between workload and performance. The relationship between work environment and performance can be communicated significantly. In short, company management must pay attention to the distribution of workload and create a supportive work environment to manage work stress and develop employee performance. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of personnel management and is a practical reference for companies in designing strategies to improve employee services.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of the various COVID-19 announcements by the World Health Organization (WHO) on stock returns in ASEAN countries, which is different from previous research in that most of the research only observed the first announcement of COVID-19 when a pandemic was declared This study uses 6 announcements of COVID-19, starting from the first time COVID-19 was identified until it was declared a variant delta. The results revealed that the market reaction in ASEAN to the first announcement of COVID-19 in China on December 31st, 2019, shows a positive and non-significant abnormal return and cumulative abnormal return. On January 13th, 15th, 21st, and 24th, 2020, the market also reacted negatively but not significantly to the announcement of the first recorded case outside China, which is in Thailand, Japan, the USA, and the European region, and it was an intermittently negative reaction but not significant. On March 7th, 2020, when the confirmed cases surpassed 100,000 globally, and on March 11th, 2020, when WHO officially announced COVID-19 as a global pandemic, the ASEAN market reacted negatively and significantly for abnormal and cumulative abnormal returns, which is inconsistent with Salisu, Sikiru and Vo (2020) and Topcu and Gulal (2020). However, the ASEAN countries reacted positively but not significantly to the second wave announcement on May 31st, 2021.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out whether the implementation of Snowball throwing technique can improve students’ speaking skill among the eight grade students of SMP Nurul Islam Jember. The focused on this research is speaking skill. This research was classified as Classroom Action Research (CAR) of Kemmish and Taggart which consisted of four procedures, namely planning the action, implementing the action, observing and reflecting. In this research, the researcher conducted two cycles. The cycle was applied on November 2020 which consisted of three meetings, two meetings for implementing the action and one meeting for students’ speaking test or post test. The result of this research showed that there was improvement of the students’ speaking skill. It could be seen from the result of the test which improved. The mean score of the pre-test was 55.46 the mean score of post-test 1 was 65.35. The mean score of post-test 2 was 79.46. The precentage of students who passed the minimum score in pre-test was 21%, in cyle 1 was 46%, and cycle 2 was 78%. It can be conclouded that there were improvement of students’ speaking skill by implementing snowball throwing technique.

Abstract

Gout is a kind of arthritis characterized by the presence of elevated amounts of uric acid in the bloodstream (hyperuricemia), leading to the accumulation of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals within the joints. The appropriate utilization of medications in individuals with gout can significantly impact the efficacy of treatment. The objective of this study is to establish a correlation between pharmacological rationality and therapeutic outcomes among gout patients at RSI Siti Khadijah Palembang from January 2020 to December 2022. The present work employs an observational analytic approach, utilizing cross-sectional and cohort study designs. The data were collected retrospectively by the utilization of the total sampling approach, encompassing a complete sample size of 32 patients. The utilization of rationality drugs yielded a 100% accuracy rate in terms of diagnosis, indication, patient selection for urate-lowering therapy, and 93.55% for analgesic anti-inflammatory treatment patient. The correct drug was administered in 100% of cases, while the appropriate dosage for urate-lowering therapy was achieved in 90.625% of instances and 100% for analgesic anti-inflammatory treatment. The route and timing of drug administration were both executed correctly in 100% of cases, and a high level of vigilance for potential side effects was maintained at 100% accuracy. The findings from Fisher's exact test demonstrated a statistically significant association between the effectiveness of urate-lowering medication and analgesic anti-inflammatory treatment in terms of obtaining normal uric acid levels (p<0.05) and reducing pain levels in individuals with gout (p<0.05). The judicious utilization of pharmaceutical substances is a viable approach for attaining desired therapeutic outcomes.

Abstract

Parkia speciosa ethanol leaves extract contains flavonoid, tannin, and terpen as ulcus peptic remedy. These compounds exhibit limited activity in the stomach due to the short gastric residence time following oral administration. The formulation of gastroretentive tablets can overcome this limitation. This research aims to control the prolonged release of drugs in the stomach to increase bioavailability and characterize the ethanol leaves extract. Extraction was carried out by maceration using ethanol, followed by standardization based on specific and non-specific parameters extract. Gastroretentive tablet was formulated with combination of HPMC-K4M and chitosan using factorial design 22. Effects of compositional factors and their interactions on gastroretentive tablet was observed on hardness, friability, floating lag/duration time, swelling index, and mucoadhesive time. Results standardization extract showed that extract met the required criteria for both specific parameters (organoleptic properties and phytochemical screening) and non-specific parameters (moisture content, loss on drying, water/ethanol-soluble extract content). Based on with DX®10 analysis, the optimum formulation was achieved with 20.25% of HPMC-K4M and 10.26% of chitosan. The analysis of the optimum formulation characteristics was as follows: friability (0.22%), hardness (29.53 N), mucoadhesive time (22.86 hours), floating lag/duration time (27.54 minutes; 12 hours), and swelling index (312.82%). Result revealed that gastroretentive tablets formulated with ethanol extract of Parkia speciosa leaves improve gastric residence duration and promote better bioavailability.
