Abstract

Bulletins in the form of pocketbooks are one solution to help students master the conceptual understanding of green chemistry material in the emancipated curriculum. This research aims to develop a bulletin in the form of a pocketbook to increase students' understanding of concepts. Analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation are all included in the ADDIE model, which is used in this research together with the research and development technique. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The population was 10th-grade students of senior high school in Banda Aceh. The results of the student response questionnaire show that the bulletin's attractiveness in the form of a pocketbook is 84.29%. The innovation of a bulletin in the form of a pocketbook has a good concept understanding ability based on the t-test value of 0.001 0.05. This research concludes that the bulletin in the form of a pocketbook is more effective than textbooks in teaching green chemistry. Bulletins in the form of practical and appropriate pocketbooks can improve students' understanding of concepts. Using bulletins in pocketbooks can be a reference and achievement for chemistry teachers' learning in learning activities in the emancipated curriculum.

Abstract

Many factors in teaching chemistry influence students' soft skills and learning motivation. An attractive model is important in determining students' success in chemistry learning. This research aims to determine the level of soft skill abilities and students' learning motivation in implementing chemoentrepreneurship through project-based learning. The research methodology is quasi-experimental. In this study, 60 students were randomly selected from 162 MIPA class students who were grouped into 30 students in the experimental class and 30 in the control class. To determine the level of students' soft skill abilities and learning motivation, a survey was conducted on their learning activities. The N-gain value of learning motivation in the experimental class and control class was obtained at 0.68 and 0.40 (medium), while the N-gain value of soft skills was obtained at 0.63 (medium) and 0.28 (low). The percentage of learning motivation and soft skills in the experimental class with an average post-test of 84.68% and 80.54% (high), while in the control class with an average post-test of 73.53% and 68.33% (medium). The student soft skill and learning motivation hypothesis test findings show a substantial difference between the experimental and control classes.

Abstract

Proses belajar mengajar yang diterapkan guru kimia di SMAN 2 Alafan masih kurang efektif dan tergolong pasif dikarenakan masih berfokus pada buku paket dan tidak ada inovasi seperti eksperimen pembuatan produk. Hal tersebut menyebabkan kurangnya motivasi peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan motivasi belajar kimia terhadap peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan pendekatan STEM. Pembelajaran yang dilakukan berbasis eksperimen menghasilkan suatu produk yaitu permen dari ekstrak biji buah pinang muda (Areca catechuL). Pembelajaran yang berlangsung menggunakan LKPD STEM untuk memudahkan proses eksperimen sehingga dapat mengetahui tingkat pemahaman peserta didik. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI IPA Idi SMAN 2 Alafan yang terdiri atas 20 peserta didik. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui lembar penilaian motivasi dan angket tanggapan peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan STEM layak untuk diaplikasikan dalam pembelajaran karena dapat terlihat dari tanggapan guru yang sangat baik, dengan nilai rata-rata 100. Tanggapan peserta didik juga mendapatkan hasil yang sangat baik dengan nilai rata-rata 94,28. Tingkat motivasi belajar peserta didik sebelum penerapan pendekatan STEM sebesar 53,747,8%, setelah penerapan pendekatan STEM memperoleh hasil yang sangat baik, sebesar 80,114,0%. Hasil uji organoleptik dari permen juga sangat baik terhadap komposisi A2 sebesar 90%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan STEM dalam proses pembelajaran dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

AbstrakTelah dilakukan penelitian pengembangan media majalah Hukum-hukum Dasar Kimia di SMA Negeri 1 Unggul Baitussalam, SMA Negeri 4 dan SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh Tahun Pelajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media majalah pada pembelajaran kimia materi Hukum-hukum Dasar Kimia, mengetahui respon siswa dan guru terhadap media majalah. Sampel penelitian yaitu 6 orang guru kimia dan siswa kelas XI IPA 1 SMAN 1 Baitussalam yang berjumlah 18 orang. Metode penelitian ini yang digunakan yaitu metode penelitian pengembangan atau Research and Development dengan tahap (i) potensi dan masalah, (ii) pengumpulan informasi, (iii) desain produk, (iv) validasi desain, (v) revisi desain, (vi) uji coba produk dan (vii) revisi produk. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan lembar penilaian kelayakan media, lembar angket siswa dan angket guru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media majalah yang dikembangkan dapat digunakan dalam uji coba dengan rerata skor 77,08%, respon guru memperoleh skor 83,33% dan dikategorikan baik sekali, respon siswa terhadap media majalah dengan rerata skor 86,71%. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa majalah kimia layak untuk digunakan pada proses pembelajaran materi Hukum-hukum Dasar Kimia di SMA Negeri 1 Unggul Baitussalam.Kata kunci : Media majalah, Pengembangan, Hukum-hukum Dasar Kimia, Respon.AbstractThis study discuss about utilize article as media to develop Fundamental of Basic Chemistry in SMA Negeri 1 Superior Baitussalam, SMA Negeri 4 and SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh in the academic year 2015/2016. This study aims to develop article as media on chemistry learning material fundamental of basic chemistry, this study evaluate response of the students and teachers to article as learning media. The sample of study is 6 Chemist teachers and 18 XI IPA 1 grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Baitussalam. The study was conducted using Research and Development method consist of 7 stages (i) Potential and problem, (ii) Collect the data, (iii) Product design, (iv) Design Validation, (v) Design revision, (vi) Product simulation, (vii) Revise the product. The data obtained by using the media media feasibility assessment sheet, sheet student questionnaire and a teacher questionnaire. The results has been showed that the article as media development can be used in trials with mean score of 77.08%, the response of teachers to get a score of 83.33% and categorized very well, students' response to media magazine with mean score of 86.71%. The study concluded that the chemistry article is feasible for media in the process of learning the material Fundamental of Basic Chemistry in SMA Negeri 1 Superior Baitussalam.Keywords: Media Article, Development, Fundamental of Basic Chemistry, Response.

Abstract

The demands of 21st-century competition require several fundamental competencies, one of which is creativity. Additionally, the affective domain, particularly environmental awareness, has received increasing international attention. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing PjBL-STEM integrated with green chemistry principles in enhancing students' creative thinking skills and environmental literacy. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group approach involving 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Baitussalam. Class X IPAS 1 served as the experimental group, whereas Class X IPAS 2 served as the control group. The research instruments included validated learning material evaluation sheets, creative thinking skills test items, and environmental literacy comprehension tests, all of which were reviewed by experts and analyzed empirically. The data analysis techniques involved N-Gain tests and independent sample t tests with a significance level of 0.05. The hypothesis testing results revealed significant N-Gain scores for both creative thinking skills and environmental literacy (p < 0.001). These findings indicate a significant difference in the improvement of creative thinking skills and environmental literacy understanding between the experimental and control groups following the implementation of the PjBL-STEM model integrated with green chemistry principles.

Abstract

The Student worksheet based on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has been prepared, validated, and tested on students at SMAN 5 Banda Aceh. The worksheet guided the students to design a salt-making tool with a sunlight-gathering mirror. The worksheet was developed using the ADDIE model of the research and development (R&D) method. The subjects of the study consisted of 31 students divided into some groups consisting of 6 participants for each. The students were given problems and examples of salt-producing tools using a sunlight-collecting mirror. The purpose of this activity was to let them observe and modify according to their creativity. Based on the assessment of the tool model produced by students, the gained score reached an average score of 91 (very good). After the learning process, the learning outcomes increased with an average of 42 to 70. The science learning motivation and creativity scores of the students after the implementation reached 76 (good) and 79 (good).

Abstract

In learning chemistry, especially regarding quantum numbers and electron configurations, learning difficulties are still encountered, resulting in low student learning outcomes. One of the factors contributing to this is the use of teaching materials that are less engaging and fail to facilitate students' understanding of concepts effectively. Digital-based student worksheets are an innovative alternative to learning because they can increase students' interaction, understanding of concepts, and critical thinking skills. This research aims to apply problem-solving-based digital student worksheets to improve students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, utilizing a post-test-only control group design. The research sample consisted of 72 class X students at SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh. The results showed that the use of digital student worksheets significantly increased students' critical thinking skills (average score of 86.96) and learning outcomes (average score of 85.3) compared to the control group (critical thinking score of 80.20 and learning outcomes of 80.33). Students demonstrated a positive response to the use of digital student worksheets, with an average questionnaire response value of 83.53. The conclusion of this study indicates that the use of digital student worksheets can enhance students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. The contribution of community service from this study is manifested in the provision of innovative teaching tools that teachers can adopt to improve collaborative learning and support the development of digital literacy in the school environment.

Abstract

The limited availability of digital learning tools that effectively integrate green chemistry concepts while enhancing scientific literacy and numeracy presents a challenge in science education. Chemistry learning that integrates environmental issues, particularly the concept of green chemistry, requires contextual and innovative teaching materials to support the enhancement of students' scientific literacy and numeracy skills. This study aimed to develop a problem-based learning (PBL) online student worksheet on green chemistry to enhance students' scientific literacy and numeracy. The research employed a research and development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model and involved 24 randomly selected students from SMA Negeri 4 Lhokseumawe. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and pre- and post-test instruments. The validation results indicated that the online worksheet was highly feasible (media: 96.88%, content: 96.39%, Aiken's V = 0.95). User responses were very positive (82.42%), and the questionnaire instruments demonstrated high validity (Aiken's V = 0.97). The N-Gain scores revealed moderate improvement in both scientific literacy (0.6061) and numeracy (0.6106), reflecting strengthened critical thinking, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills. This study contributes by providing a replicable model of an online worksheet that integrates environmental issues into chemistry learning, enriches digital learning resources, and supports the mastery of 21st-century competencies in science education. Therefore, the development of this PBL-based online student worksheet is considered feasible, practical, and effective in enhancing students' scientific literacy and numeracy skills.
