Abstract

Children with cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) frequently experience difficulties with speech and language development. Changes in the orofacial anatomical structure cause these issues, which lead to a restricted ability to articulate. Cleft lip and palate repair involves a variety of surgical techniques to restore function and a more normal appearance. This repair does not always result in normal function of the lip and palate, so these children usually present with speech difficulties even after surgery. Determining the speech intelligibility of CLP children who had undergone surgery was the goal of this investigation. The method used was to analyze the literature by searching for relevant articles on Pubmed, Wiley and Google Schoolar. Several reviews showed that speech intelligibility comprehension, measured using the Context Intelligibility Scale (CIS), depends on the proximity of the communication partner to the child. Although children with CLP have undergone surgery, speech therapy is still needed to help them improve speech intelligibility

Abstract

Background: Parents' knowledge of language development is one of the factors that influence children's language skills. Parents' knowledge needs to be increased by knowing the development of each language in each period of life, so that children will get their right to care, especially in language development which will determine their next life. Objectives: Describe the knowledge of parents about language development, describe the receptive language skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to analyze the relationship between knowledge of parents about language development and receptive language skills in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder at Pusat Layanan Disabilitas dan Pendidikan Inklusif Kota Surakarta. Method: The type of research used is quantitative research with a cross sectional design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the number of respondents as many as 30 respondents. The statistical test used in this study is the Spearman’s rho. Results: The Spearman's rho test results, the results obtained were a ρ value of 0.016 or a ρ value <0.05, had a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.435 which was in the medium category, and had a unidirectional correlation direction. Conclusion: There is a positive correlation or relationship and moderate category between parental knowledge about language development with a ρ value of 0.016 and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.435 on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) receptive language skills. Abstract

Background: Language is one way of stimulating a child's way of thinking. If a child's language skills are low then it is likely that the child will experience delays in his thinking process. Receptive language development is a complex process in a child's development. Parents can develop their children's receptive language through activities in the form of telling stories, because it can stimulate their language development, especially in the way they think, listen, solve problems and form their character. Storytelling is known to be able to improve children's language skills, because vocabulary will increase when children often listen to stories. Objectives: This research aims to determine the relationship between storytelling and receptive language skills of preschool children in Jebres District Surakarta. Methods: This research uses a quantitative type of research, cross sectional research design. The data collection technique uses purposive sampling. The sample for this research was children aged 2-5 years as many as 65 respondents. The data analysis technique uses the Kendall Tau Test. Results: The results of the research show that there is a relationship between storytelling and receptive language skills of preschool children in Jebres District Surakarta. The significance value is 0.000, which means the p value <0.05 and the r value is 0.511. This shows that the strength of the correlation between the two variables is in the strong category with a positive direction, which means that the higher the storytelling provided, the higher the child's receptive language skills and can increase receptive language skills with a possible percentage of 51.1%. Conclusion: There is a relationship between storytelling and receptive language skills of preschool children in Jebres District Surakarta. Keywords : Receptive Language, Storytelling, Early Childhood

Abstract

Early childhood is a golden period of physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth and development. During this period, optimal stimulation is required so that children's potential can develop and flourish to the full. Early childhood development focuses on cognitive and physical-motor aspects.  Cognitive linguistics is concerned with how humans think when they speak, and how they speak when they think about something.  Syntaxic studies the organization and relationship between words and words, or between words and larger units, or between larger units in language. Syntaxic ability is problematic because linguistic cognitive ability is problematic. Indeed, syntaxic and cognitive linguistic ability are linked to the way human beings process language. The impact of a syntaxic ability problem is the construction of incoherent, ungrammatical and inefficient sentences. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between linguistic cognitive ability and syntaxic ability.  This research method is cross sectional study. The sample for this study consisted of 59 early childhood.  Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank method.  The results of the analysis obtained a significant value (p-value) of 0.000. The significant value of the test is less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05), which means that there is a significant relationship between linguistic cognitive ability and syntaxic ability of early childhood in Surakarta

Abstract

Menulis adalah tugas kompleks dalam pemrosesan bahasa yang melibatkan bentuk, isi, dan penggunaan bahasa. Proses menulis terdiri dari macrostructure dan microstructure, dengan mikrostruktur berfokus pada elemen seperti kata, kalimat, frasa, dan klausa untuk membangun narasi yang kohesif. Penelitian ini menggambarkan kemampuan menulis anak kelas 3 SD dalam aspek mikrostruktur narasi di Surakarta menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif dan teknik quota sampling. Responden menulis narasi yang dianalisis dengan lembar penilaian mikrostruktur. Hasil menunjukkan aspek dalam kategori rendah meliputi jumlah kata (TNW), jumlah ide (IDEAS), dan kepadatan klausa (C-DENSITY), sementara kategori sedang mencakup jumlah kalimat (T-UNIT), panjang T-UNIT, jumlah klausa, tata bahasa, ejaan, tanda titik, dan kapitalisasi. Secara umum, kemampuan menulis anak kelas 3 SD berkembang dengan baik, tetapi perlu peningkatan dalam pengembangan ide, jumlah kata, dan kepadatan klausa. Abstract

Autisme Spectrum Disorder (ASD) merupakan gangguan perkembangan saraf yang mempengaruhi kemampuan komunikasi, interaksi sosial, serta pola perilaku yang terbatas dan berulang. Anak dengan ASD sering mengalami kesulitan dalam perkembangan kognitifnya. Salah satu metode yang dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif anak ASD adalah metode pretend play. Metode ini melibatkan permainan imajinatif yang memungkinkan anak untuk mengeksplorasi peran dan situasi tertentu guna meningkatkan pemahaman mereka terhadap dunia sekitar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas metode pretend play dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif anak ASD di Karisidenan Surakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain quasi-experimental dengan rancangan pre-test dan post-test pada kelompok intervensi dan kontrol. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari anak-anak dengan ASD yang mengikuti terapi wicara dan bahasa di beberapa klinik dan sekolah luar biasa (SLB). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan kognitif anak-anak yang diberikan intervensi pretend play dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol yang tidak mendapatkan intervensi tersebut. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pretend play merupakan metode yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif anak ASD, khususnya dalam aspek pemrosesan informasi, memori, dan pemahaman sosial. Dengan demikian, metode pretend play dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai pendekatan terapeutik yang dapat digunakan dalam program intervensi bagi anak ASD untuk mendukung perkembangan kognitif mereka secara optimal.

Abstract

Anak dengan gangguan phonological processing biasanya mengalami penurunan keterampilan sosial dan prestasi akademis. Masalah membaca adalah salah satu masalah berisiko tinggi yang muncul, dan anak-anak sering kali memerlukan bantuan ekstra di sekolah. Anak-anak sering kali merasa frustrasi dan menjadi sasaran perundungan oleh teman-teman sekelasnya. Anak-anak merasakan hal ini sebagai perasaan yang lebih nyaman di rumah atau bersama orang-orang terdekat mereka, dan lebih pendiam serta tertutup di tempat umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk fokus pada faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya phonological processing pada usia perkembangan. Desain dalam penelitian ini menggunakan cross-sectional yang bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memicu phonological processing pada anak. Variabel independen adalah jenis kelamin, kognitif dan status sosial ekonomi. Variabel dependen adalah phonological processing (Rapid Automatic Naming). Variabel antara adalah momory, auditory processing dan problem solving. Sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 100 subjek dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan path analysis.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan phonological processing anak usia pra sekolah yang baik dipengaruhi secara langsung oleh adanya kemampuan kognitif yang baik (b=4.09 unit; CI 95%= 1.3 hingga 6,8; p = 0.004), jenis kelamin anak perempuan(b=3.9 unit; CI 95%= 0.6 hingga 7.0; p = 0.012), dan status sosial ekonomi anak menengah ke atas (b=3.7unit; CI 95%= 0.5 hingga 6.9; p = 0.023) Phonological processes pada anak usia pra sekolah yang sesuai dipengaruhi secara tidak langsung oleh memory yang baik, auditory processing yang baik dan problem solving yang baik.

Abstract

Language skills play an important role in the development of children's social skills, especially in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This study aims to analyze the relationship between language skills and social communication skills of children with ASD in Surakarta. This study used a quantitative method with an observational design and a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through observation and analyzed using univariate and bivariate statistical tests with the help of SPSS 21.0. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between language skills and social communication skills of children with ASD, with a significance value of ρ of 0.00 (ρ <0.050) and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.740. This shows that the higher the child's language skills, the better their social communication skills. There is a significant positive relationship between language skills and social communication skills of children with ASD in Surakarta. Improving language skills can contribute to the development of social communication of children with ASD.

Abstract

Unilateral vocal fold paralisis merupakan salah satu penyebab terjadinya gangguan suara. Di RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, prevalensi terjadinya unilateral vocal fold paralysis sekitar 86% dari jumlah total pasien disfonia. Kondisi ini terjadi ketika posisi pita suara terbuka selama fonasi, sehingga udara yang dialirkan tidak dapat menggetarkan pita suara, menyebabkan suara serak dan terengah-engah, terjadinya penurunan durasi fonasi dan penurunan kenyaringan (Boone et al., 2020). Respiration training adalah salah satu latihan yang dapat membantu seseorang dengan gangguan suara untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pernafasan yang kuat dalam berfonasi, sehingga dapat meringankan ketegangan yang terjadi pada pita suara dan memperbaiki pola pernafasan yang salah saat digunakan untuk mengkompensasi disfungsi laring (Desjardins & Bonilha, 2020). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian respiration training dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berfonasi bagi pasien suara  unilateral vocal fold paralysis di RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Jakarta Pusat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian eksperimen. Penulis menggunakan  pre- Experimental Designs (non design) yang merupakan desain penelitian tanpa adanya variable kontrol dan sampel tidak dipilih secara random sebanyak 10 responden. Bentuk desain yang digunakan yaitu “One Groups Pretest-Posttest Design". Hasil uji hipotesis dengan Paired T test dengan nilai ρvalue adalah 0.006 yang artinya jika ρvalue < dari 0.05 maka disimpulkan H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Terdapat pengaruh respiration training terhadap kemampuan fonasi pasien dengan unilateral vocal fold paralysis di RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Jakarta Pusat.
