Abstract

Literacy in self-breast examination (SADARI) still lacks attention from the community. Urban women in marginal communities even have limited access to health information. As a result, early detection of breast cancer remains a significant challenge for them. This study aims to obtain an overview of SADARI literacy among urban women in marginal communities. The study was conducted using a descriptive quantitative approach with a random sampling technique. The respondents were 79 women from the Az Zahra fisherman community in Ujung Tanah District, Makassar. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire sheet and observations consisting of 20 questions. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics using Excel. The early cancer detection variables used are self-breast examination (SADARI) and clinical breast examination (SADANIS). The results of this study indicate that SADARI literacy among urban women in marginal communities is still low. There are five indicators measured in this study, with the results showing respondents who have a good understanding of the purpose of SADARI (27%), the benefits of SADARI (11%), how to perform SADARI (7%), the appropriate time to perform SADARI (13%), and the signs found and the appropriate time to perform SADANIS (23%). This research can be a reference for the government to promote the socialization of early breast cancer detection that reaches marginal communities.

Abstract

In the equatorial region, Indonesia experiences distinct wet and dry seasons influenced by monsoon. The country's agricultural sector is highly susceptible to the impacts of climate change, including extreme weather events and shifting seasonal patterns due to global warming. This study aims to analyze variations in rainfall intensity and their effects on the onset of the seasons in Indonesia from 2001 to 2022. The research used GSMaP data, focusing on the area between 6° N - 11° S and 95° - 141° E. The start of the season was determined based on rainfall criteria from BMKG. The findings reveal significant changes in the onset of the rainy and dry seasons in regions such as Sumatra and Kalimantan, with the maximum change being 8 dasarian. The study also indicates that the rainy season during the 2012-2022 period is shorter compared to the 2001-2011 period, resulting in a longer dry season. Furthermore, the maximum standard deviation is 14 dasarian, allowing the season's start to shift by up to 14 dasarian annually in certain areas of Indonesia. ENSO can influence changes in the pattern of the start of the season.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is essential in the growth and development of babies and improves maternal health. Exclusive breastfeeding can reduce infant mortality rates; of the 3 thousand infant deaths in Indonesia, 10 million deaths of children aged less than 5 years in the world each year can be prevented by exclusive breastfeeding. The hormones that play a role in breastfeeding mothers are prolactin and oxytocin. The research aimed to look at the effectiveness of oxytocin massage and Phoenix dactylifera in increasing the levels of the hormone prolactin in breastfeeding mothers. The research was a Quasi Experiment with a Post Test only design, a sample of 30 people divided into three groups. Phoenix Dactylifera intervention, oxytocin massage intervention, and control without treatment. The research was conducted at TPMB Palembang city. Analysis using the Shapiro-Wilks test for data homogeneity using Levene's test (pmore than 0.05) and the One Way ANOVA test compared the means of the three groups. The results showed no significant differences between the three groups where the ρ value was more than 0.05. The conclusion is that there is nothing more effective in increasing prolactin hormone levels than giving Phoenix dactylifera and oxytocin massage because it is thought to be caused by many influencing factors, including age, education, nutritional intake, and maternal parity.

Abstract

Stunting masih saja menjadi problem kesehatan mendasar di dunia, hingga tahun 2020 UNICEF mencatat kejadian stunting anak usia lima tahun sebanyak 149,2 juta.
