Abstract

Plagiarism is an academic crime that greatly disrupts the performance of a University. The creative works of writing created by the academic community of Semarang State University need to be protected for their authenticity. Sometimes students' writings in the process of creating written works in the form of theses, dissertations and dissertations must include other written works as citations to support the novelty of their writing. Since 2021, the Semarang State University Library Unit has been appointed as the gateway for selecting student writings to be submitted to the Final Assignment Examination. Through the procedures that have been prepared, each student who will take the final exam submits online in the form of a document file that will be processed by the Library Unit staff and provide the results of the document. From the documents that have been sent and uploaded in the Turnitin application, a similarity presentation is produced. The results of this similarity make it an interesting material to study the percentage level of the initial writing and the improvements sent in the similarity submission. This study will look at Turnitin data submitted in 2022. The data is 8000 Turnitin submission data and its improvements. From this data, it can be expected that this study aims to determine how effective the use of the Turnitin application is in filtering final assignment writing from students before being tested by the examining committee at the Faculty. After being tested and declared passed, this final assignment will be published in the Unnes repository on the page http://lib.unnes.ac.id . The output produced in this study is targeted to be published in a national journal indexed by Sinta, namely the Journal of Educational Research https://journal.unnes.ac.id/nju/index.php/JPP . This study is expected to be used as a reference for managers of library materials from students' work that are ready to be published so that they are safe from plagiarism.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning model for wayang stories based on card games and wayang puzzles that is feasible, practical, and effective for implementation at the junior high school level. The background of this research is based on the condition that wayang story learning is still predominantly conventional, teacher-centered, and lacks student engagement. In addition, previous studies have mostly focused on developing instructional media without being supported by a systematic learning model framework, which has resulted in less effective learning outcomes. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 3D development model, which consists of the define, design, and develop stages. The research procedures include needs analysis, learning model design, product development in the form of wayang card games and puzzles, and expert validation involving subject matter experts and instructional design experts. The research subjects consist of junior high school students who study wayang story materials. Data collection techniques involve questionnaire surveys to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the developed learning model. The results indicate that the game-based wayang story learning model developed in this study is suitable and appropriate for classroom implementation. The model demonstrates unique characteristics by actively engaging both teachers and students, enhancing interaction, and creating an enjoyable learning environment. Therefore, this learning model is expected to serve as an innovative alternative for improving the teaching and learning of wayang stories at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The Wayang Timplong performance, as a traditional art form distinctive to East Java, serves as a cultural symbol that can be analyzed through a semiotic approach. This study aims to examine the denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in the play “The Tragedy of Rara Kuning”, which was broadcast on the Asthabrata Media YouTube channel and performed by the puppeteer Ki Badaralam. The research employs Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory as its analytical framework. The findings indicate that the main narrative of The Tragedy of Rara Kuning by Ki Badaralam contains classical elements commonly found in folk traditions. The story presents themes of struggle, love, and justice. Rara Kuning, as the central character, is frequently portrayed as possessing both physical beauty and moral virtue. The sequence of scenes in the Wayang Timplong narrative, featuring characters such as Dewi Sekartaji, Klana Sembaja, Arya Wiguna, and Resi Darmo, demonstrates a close interrelation between aesthetic, moral, and spiritual values within Javanese tradition. Each event conveys denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings that collectively construct the narrative structure while simultaneously functioning as a medium for value transmission. Overall, the Wayang Timplong storyline is not merely a form of traditional entertainment but also a medium for moral and character education. The narrative reinforces Javanese myths emphasizing the importance of loyalty, purity, and courage in opposing destructive ambition, while simultaneously highlighting the function of traditional arts as a vehicle for character formation and the reinforcement of noble values in social life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ideology of Freedom of Learning in music learning through the integration of pedagogic competence, professional adaptation, and autonomy of cultural arts teachers as a framework for the development of contextual learning practices. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach through literature study and conceptual analysis of educational policies, pedagogic theories, and contemporary music learning practices. Data analysis was carried out thematically to identify the relationship between educational ideology, teacher professionalism, and music learning dynamics. The results of the study show that the ideology of Merdeka Belajar strengthens the role of teachers as reflective agents who have the freedom to design creative learning strategies based on local culture and the needs of students. The integration of pedagogic competencies and adaptive professionalism enhances learning flexibility, student active participation, and meaningful, student-centered musical experiences. This study concludes that the ideology of Independent Learning functions as a pedagogic paradigm that supports the development of innovative, contextual, and transformative music learning models in contemporary cultural arts education strategies based on local culture and the needs of students. The integration of pedagogic competencies and adaptive professionalism enhances learning flexibility, student active participation, and meaningful, student-centered musical experiences. Abstract

Wayang Orang merupakan seni pertunjukan tradisional yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai media penyampaian nilai ideologis dan pandangan hidup masyarakat Jawa. Pertunjukan ini menampilkan sistem visual yang kompleks melalui rias, busana, warna, gerak, dan tata panggung yang memiliki makna simbolik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji ideologi visual dalam pertunjukan Wayang Orang menggunakan perspektif Desain Komunikasi Visual sebagai pendekatan analisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi pustaka dan analisis visual deskriptif interpretatif terhadap unsur-unsur visual dalam pertunjukan Wayang Orang. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa unsur visual tersebut membentuk sistem komunikasi visual tradisional yang merepresentasikan nilai moral, etika, serta struktur sosial budaya Jawa. Perspektif Desain Komunikasi Visual membantu mengungkap cara pesan ideologis dikonstruksi dan dikomunikasikan secara visual kepada penonton. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi teoretis bagi pengembangan studi seni pertunjukan dan budaya visual dalam ranah Ilmu Budaya.

Abstract

This research was motivated by students' poor understanding of wayang story material in class VIII A at SMP Negeri 13 Semarang. This is caused by the lack of distribution of Javanese vocabulary used in wayang stories. This research aims to apply the Team Games Tournament (TGT) type cooperative learning model to improve the reading comprehension skills of class VIII A students at SMP Negeri 13 Semarang. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) Kemimis and McTaggart models. The research subjects were students in class VIII A of SMP Negeri 13 Semarang. There were two data collection techniques used, namely test and non-test. Non-written collection took the form of an interview and written observations using a pretest-posttest. The pretest score is carried out once in pre-cycle activities, and the posttest is carried out twice at the end of each cycle. Quantitative analysis uses Excel to calculate changes through numbers. The results of this research show that in pre-action, the students' average score was 37.41, in cycle I, there was an increase with an average score of 80 and in cycle II, there was another increase of 92.65, so it can be concluded that learning wayang stories uses the Team Games type cooperative learning model. Tournament (TGT) can improve the reading comprehension skills of class VIII A students at SMP Negeri 13 Semarang.

Abstract

Sabda pandhita ratu (the decree of a sage-king) is a principle upheld by a king. However, in wayang kings are often depicted as violating this principle. This study aims to reveal the representation of the sabda pandhita ratu concept in Javanese kings within the wayang purwa stories. The research employs a qualitative approach with a semiotic method. The data consist of signs and symbols found in wayang purwa performances. The primary data source is a wayang purwa performance featuring the Kresna Duta play by Ki Anom Suroto. Data collection was conducted using the observation and note-taking technique and analyzed through Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic model, which includes the representamen, object, and interpretant. The findings indicate that in the Kresna Duta play, the sabda pandhita ratu in Javanese kingship is upheld by Kresna and Karna, then rejected by Duryudana. Duryudana's denial of the sabda pandhita ratu is driven by greed, pressure, and political interests. This rejection leads to negative political consequences and tarnishes a leaders integrity.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Mayoritas studi mengenai ritual bancakan berfokus pada makna ritualistik, solidaritas sosial, dan fungsi pelestarian budaya. Namun, film Sego Berkat merepresentasikan tradisi tersebut dalam nuansa mistis yang lebih kompleks. Artikel ini bertujuan menjelaskan bentuk mistifikasi bancakan dalam film Sego Berkat menggunakan kerangka semiotika struktural Roland Barthes. Metode penelitian bersifat kualitatif deskriptif dengan fokus pada simbol visual dan naratif untuk mengungkap proses mistifikasi ideologis dan pesan budaya dalam film. Analisis dilakukan dengan bantuan teori drama melalui sekuens naratif pada tiga tingkat makna: denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Sego Berkat tidak hanya menggambarkan bancakan sebagai tradisi sosial, tetapi juga upaya membangun mitos spiritual. Pada level denotasi, bancakan adalah cara penyajian dan konsumsi makanan secara komunal. Pada level konotasi, bancakan bermakna perayaan kebersamaan, wujud syukur, dan upaya spiritual untuk memohon keselamatan berkah, doa, dan solidaritas, sedangkan pada level mitos, bancakan narasi ideologis tentang keharusan menjaga harmoni sosial dan spiritual melalui praktik berbagi untuk menjamin keberuntungan dan keselamatan. Dengan demikian, Bancakan memiliki makna yang lebih dari sekadar hidangan biasa, melainkan bertindak sebagai cerminan nilai spiritual dan kosmologi Jawa. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa film tersebut mendorong penonton menginterpretasikan kembali tradisi melalui perspektif mistifikasi budaya. KATA KUNCI: Sega Berkat; Mistifikasi; Semiotika; Roland Barthes.   THE MYSTIFICATION OF BANCAKAN IN THE RURAL JAVANESE WORLDVIEW IN THE FILM SEGO BERKAT     ABSTRACT: While most studies on the bancakan ritual focus on social solidarity and cultural preservation, the film Sego Berkat presents this tradition with complex mystical nuances. This article aims to explain the mystification of bancakan in Sego Berkat using Roland Barthes’ structural semiotics. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, this study analyzes visual and narrative symbols to uncover ideological mystification and cultural messages. The analysis utilizes drama theory to examine narrative sequences across three levels of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. The results indicate that Sego Berkat portrays bancakan not merely as a social tradition but as an effort to construct a spiritual myth. At the denotative level, bancakan is communal dining. Connotatively, it signifies togetherness, gratitude, and spiritual pleas for blessings and solidarity. At the level of myth, it becomes an ideological narrative emphasizing the necessity of maintaining social and spiritual harmony through sharing to ensure safety. Thus, bancakan transcends ordinary food consumption, serving as a reflection of Javanese spiritual values and cosmology. These findings confirm that the film encourages the audience to reinterpret tradition through the perspective of cultural mystification. Abstract

Previous studies on tembang macapat have generally focused on moral, cultural, and educational values. However, research that positions tembang macapat as a  as a medium of political representation and contique remains limited. Therefore, this study fills this gap by analyzing the uran-uran Semut Ireng as a symbolic reflection of the socio-political dynamics of Javanese society. This analysis employs Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory, which examines tembang through poetic structures by analyzing the meanings of the lyrics at three levels: denotative, connotative, and myth namely the second level of marking that displays the ideology of power and leadership as if it were something natural.. Adopting a qualitative descriptive design, the study analyzes transcribed and translated lyrics of uran-uran Semut Ireng taken from selected YouTube performances. The analysis identifies signifiers and signifieds in each line, then reconstructs their denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings to explain how the song functions as a medium for political messaging. The results indicate that semut ireng represents the common people who possess the courage to voice criticism, while the ideal leader is portrayed through Javanese leadership values that uphold justice and political balance. The study shows how past socio-political realities are rearticulated in uran-uran Semut Ireng, making it relevant today as a medium of reflection and socio-political criticism grounded in local wisdom.

Abstract

Moral degradation in various parts of the country is a concern for various groups today, especially in an era that is fast-paced and full of change. Novels as literary works that reflect social life often display all aspects of life, including moral values. Similarly, the Javanese novel, in addition to narrating the life of the Javanese, also elaborates on the aspect of morality of this largest ethnic in Indonesia. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the moral values of rural Javanese in the novel Nglebur Wirang by Yosep Bambang Margono. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data analysis technique uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics. The research data is in the form of speech, attitudes, and actions that show the moral values of rural Javanese. The data collection technique used is to watch and record. The results of the study show that the novel Nglebur Wirang by Yosep Bambang Margono contains various moral values of rural Javanese. These values are such as tepa slira, hormat, nrima, pakewuh, sowan, sabar, isin, rasan-rasan, drengki, gumunan, nastiti, and blaka suta. Based on the results of the research, the moral values of rural Javanese people provide a deep understanding of the value systems that shape the behavior and perspective of traditional communities. These values are not only believed philosophically, but also manifested in daily life.
