Abstract

T The selection of the right growing medium is a crucial factor in the cultivation of porang (Amorphophallus onchophyllus). The growing medium's quality directly affects this plant's growth and yield. This study aims to find out the effect of the composition of various planting media on the growth of porang plants with the observed parameters consisting of bud growth time, the number of shoots, shoot height, and root volume. This study employed a Randomized Block Design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments given were P0 (without treatment), P1 (2,000 g of soil + 1,000 g of goat manure + 1,000 g of husk charcoal), P2 (2,000 g of soil + 1,000 g of goat manure + 1,000 g of banana midrib), and P3 (2,000 g of soil + 1,000 g of goat manure + 1,000 g bamboo leaf charcoal). This study was followed by extension activities which were evaluated at the beginning (the initial evaluation) and the end (the final evaluation). Results indicated that the use of various compositions of effective growing media had a significant effect on the outcomes. The planting media composition on P2 with 2,000 g of soil, 1,000 g of goat manure, and 1,000 g of banana midrib gave the best results for all parameters in which the average shoot growth time was 5 DAP, the average number of shoots was 5 and 6 shoots after 60 DAP, the average shoot height was 2.9 cm at 60 DAP, and the average root volume was 19.9 ml.

Abstract

Kandungan bahan organik merupakan salah satu indikator kesuburan tanah. Biochar sebagai bahan organik mampu meningkatkan kandungan C-organik sekaligus meningkatkan retensi hara di dalam tanah. Pemanfaatan biochar sebagai pupuk slow-release merupakan strategi peningkatan bahan organik sekaligus meningkatkan retensi hara untuk efisiensi pemupukan.   Kegiatan ini bertujuan melakukan demonstrasi penggunaan biochar sebagai pupuk slow-release mulai dari pembuatan hingga aplikasi pada tanaman kakao. Luaran dari kegiatan ini adalah 6 orang dosen dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare melakukan kegiatan di luar kampus dalam bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan  9 orang mahasiswa agroteknologi berkegiatan di luar kampus yang dapat mengkonversi CPMK dua mata kuliah, Budidaya Tanaman Pangan dan Perkebunan serta Kesuburan Tanah dan Pemupukan. Selain itu penerima manfaat yang lebih utama adalah Kelompok Tani Mamminasa Deceng sebanyak 25 orang. Dalam kegiatan ini diproduksi biochar sebanyak 3.780 liter yang dibuat pupuk slow-release dengan menggunakan pupuk NPK sebanyak 252 g yang dapat digunakan untuk pemupukan sebanyak 420 pohon kakao. Kata kunci: Biochar, biopori, pupuk pelepasan lambat, perkebunan,  tongkol jagung. ABSTRACT Organic matter content is an indicator of soil fertility. Biochar as an organic matter can increase the C-organic content while increasing nutrient retention in the soil. The use of biochar as a slow-release fertilizer is a strategy to increase organic matter while increasing nutrient retention for fertilization efficiency. This activity aims to demonstrate the use of biochar as a slow-release fertilizer starting from manufacture to application on cocoa plants. The output of this activity was 6 lecturers from Parepare Muhammadiyah University carrying out activities outside the campus in the form of community service and 9 agrotechnology students carrying out activities outside the campus who were able to convert CPMK to two courses in the cultivation of food crops and plantations as well as soil fertility and fertilization. In addition, the more important beneficiaries are the Mamminasa Deceng farmer group of 25 people. In this activity, 3,780 liters of biochar were produced, which was made into slow-release fertilizer using 252 g of NPK fertilizer to fertilize 420 cocoa trees. Abstract

Pertumbuhan bibit kakao seringkali mengalami kekeringan diawal pertumbuhannya, sehingga dibutuhkan teknologi pengelolaan air sejak masa pembimbitan. Biochar merupakan media berpori yang dapat dijadikan media tanam pada pertumbuhan tanaman.   Kegiatan ini bertujuan menyediakan 1000 bibit kakao yang tahan kekekering dan hama penyakit. Luaran dari kegiatan ini adalah tersedianya 1000 bibit kakao yang tahan kekeringan untuk didistribusi kepada 5 oarng anggota kelompok tani mamminasa Deceng. Sedangkan luaran IKU menghasilkan luaran, yakni: 6 orang dosen dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare melakukan kegiatan di luar kampus dalam bentuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan  9 orang mahasiswa agroteknologi berkegiatan diluar kampus  yang  dapat mengkonversi CPMK 2 matakuliah budidaya tanamana pangan dan perkebunan serta   kesuburan tanah dan pemupukan. Dalam kegiatan ini diproduksi biochar sebanyak 2.100 liter yang dibuat media tanaman bersama dengan tanah dengan perbandingan 1:1. Polibag yang digunakan berukuran 20 x 30 cm, dimana 1 polibag berisi 2.1 liter biochar. Biochar yang digunakan akan disertifikasi pada saat bibit sudah ditanam dan dikonversi menjadi karbon kredit untuk diperdagangkan.. Kata kunci: Kakao, kekeringan, media tanam, pirolisis, retensi air. ABSTRACT The growth of cocoa seedlings often experiences drought at the beginning of their growth, so that water management technology is needed from the seedling period. Biochar is a porous medium that can be used as a planting medium for plant growth. This activity aims to provide 1000 cocoa seedlings that are resistant to drought and pests. The output of this activity was the availability of 1,000 drought-resistant cocoa seedlings to be distributed to 5 members of the Deceng mamminasa farmer group. While the output of the IKU produced outputs, namely: 6 lecturers from Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare carrying out activities outside the campus in the form of community service and 9 agrotechnology students doing activities outside the campus who could convert CPMK 2 courses in food crop cultivation and plantations as well as soil fertility and fertilization. In this activity as much as 2100 liters of biochar was produced which was made into plant media together with soil with a ratio of 1:1. The polybags used were 20 x 30 cm in size, where 1 polybag contained 2.1 liters of biochar. The biochar used will be certified when the seeds have been planted and converted into carbon credits to be traded. Keywords: Cocoa, drought, growing media, pyrolysis, water retention.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi pengaruh perbedaan komposisi bahan baku terhadap analisa sensori produk penyedap rasa terasi ikan peperek. Produk penyedap rasa terasi ikan peperek adalah produk inovatif yang berpotensi untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah pada ikan peperek, sebuah sumber daya perikanan lokal yang cukup melimpah di daerah tertentu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental dengan menerapkan variasi komposisi bahan baku yang berbeda pada proses pembuatan produk. Analisa sensori dilakukan menggunakan panelis sebanyak 15 orang untuk mengevaluasi 3 atribut organoleptik yaitu aroma, rasa dan warna dengan menggunakan metode uji pembedaan (paired test). Hasil analisis sensori diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan yang mendalam tentang preferensi konsumen terhadap variasi kompisisi produk penyedap rasa terasi ikan peperek. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangan ilmiah yang signifikan dalam pengembangan produk pangan berbasis lokal dan memberikan rekomendasi untuk perbaikan komposisi produk yang lebih disukai oleh konsumen.

Abstract

A field experiment evaluated the effect of different doses of composted organic fertilizer made from rice straw on the yield of three local aromatic rice varieties of Luwu Regency in the safe growing season (rainy season). The local aromatic rice varieties were Ngappa, Sassa, and Latimojong varieties, and four doses of composted organic fertilizer from rice straw, namely 0, 4, 8, and 16 tons/ha, were used as treatment variables. The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with two factors and three replications. At harvest, data were collected on various characters that contributed to the yield of aromatic rice. The results showed no characters were affected by the interaction of variety and compost dosage. Ngappa variety produced the highest dry grain yield per hectare with 3,834 kg/ha, while the highest average production of local Sulawesi aromatic rice was with the application of 16 tons per hectare of rice straw compost in this experiment which produced 4,241.78 kg of paddy per hectare.

Abstract

Target produktivitas jagung di lahan kering miring akan sulit dicapai tanpa teknologi konservasi tanah, khususnya penanggulangan erosi dan peningkatan bahan organik tanah.  Biochar merupakan teknologi tepat guna yang dapat meningkatkan daya ikat tanah sehingga tidak muda terdispersi. Kandungan karbonnya yang tinggi menjadi sumber C-organik jika digunakan sebagai bahan pemenah tanah. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan wawasan petani melaksanakan usahatani jagung berbasis konservasi menggunakan biochar sebagai sumber karbon tanah. Metode pelaksanaan adalah demplot di lahan jagung dimana petani melakukan partisipasi aktif dalam setiap kegiatan, yang terdiri dari  pembuatan rorak searah dengan lereng, pembuatan lubangan biopori, aplikasi biochar sebagai bahan pembenah tanah, budidaya jagung sistem legowo 2:1. Luaran kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan petani (76 orang anggota kelompok tani Mamminasa Deceng) tentang konsep usahatani jagung sistem legowo berbasis konservasi dan peran biochar sebagai sumber karbon dalam meningkatkan kulitas tanah serta meningkatnya kesuburan tanah berdasarkan kandungan C-organik tanah (4%).   Kata kunci: Degradasi lahan, jagung, karbon, kekeringan, produktivitas. ABSTRACT The target of corn productivity on sloping dry land will be difficult to achieve without soil conservation technology, especially erosion control and increasing soil organic matter. Biochar is an appropriate technology that can increase soil binding capacity so that it is not easily dispersed. Its high carbon content becomes a source of organic C if used as a soil enhancer. The purpose of this activity is to increase farmers' insight into implementing conservation-based corn farming using biochar as a source of soil carbon. The implementation method is a demonstration plot in corn fields where farmers actively participate in each activity, consisting of making rorak in the direction of the slope, making biopore holes, applying biochar as a soil conditioner and corn cultivation using the 2:1 legowo system corn cultivation using the 2:1 legowo system. The output of this activity is increased knowledge of farmers (76 members of the Mamminasa Deceng farmer group) about the concept of conservation-based corn farming and the role of biochar as a carbon source in improving soil quality and increasing soil fertility based on soil organic C content (4%).
