Abstract

Ponds in Indonesia, especially in Brebes district, usually produce export-oriented fishery products that have high economic value. One of the fishery products currently being developed is vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). The presence of plankton in the water can be used as an indicator of water quality because it is strongly influenced by water quality. The purpose of this study was to estimate the abundance and stability of pond water from biological measurements (variation, diversity, and dominance of plankton) in the Sawojajar vannamei shrimp ponds. The method used is quantitative and descriptive at random. The results showed that the value of the abundance of phytoplankton ranged from 3451 to 6895 cells/mL, with the highest relative abundance being the type of Bacillariophyta. Meanwhile, the abundance of zooplankton ranged from 45 to 525 ind/mL, with Rotifera having the highest relative abundance. The diversity index status (H') is moderate, the uniformity index (E) is high, and the dominance index is low. Phosphate and COD found were high, as were other water qualities such as DO and temperature. Optimum pH, salinity, and brightness

Abstract

Lignocellulose materials, such as bamboo, rattan, and wood, have been largely used for furniture and crafts. On the other hand, the utilization of lignocellulose-like materials, which have a similar texture and appearance to those from nature, has been increasing recently due to their superior durability. This research aimed to identify the lignocellulose-like material using spectroscopy analysis, such as Raman and Near Infrared (NIR) which is well-known as a non-destructive, quick, and accurate approach for material identification. We investigated 4 types of lignocellulose-like materials that were provided by Dewan Serat Indonesia (The Indonesian Fiber Council) from an industry that produces them. The NIR analysis was performed at wavenumbers 10,000-4,000 cm-1. The natural lignocellulose (bamboo and wood) and the polymers (polyethylene and polyproline) were used as standards. Raman analysis was further employed to identify the composition of selected lignocellulose-like materials by comparing their spectra with the library software. The results showed that the original NIR spectra of lignocellulose-like and those natural materials were different, indicating that the NIR analysis can differentiate those materials. The NIR spectra of lignocellulose-like materials were similar to those of polyethylene spectra. Those lignocellulose-like were also identified as polyethylene due to the similarity of the Raman spectra and their library spectra.

Abstract

Sengon (Falcataria moluccana Miq.) is a fast-growing timber species widely distributed in Indonesia. However, its dimensional instability and low surface quality have limited its widespread use. Wood modification is essential for enhancing these properties, and one effective approach is heat treatment. This study investigated the effects of different heat treatment methods and durations on color change, surface roughness, weight loss (WL), decreased density, and dimensional stability of sengon wood. The heat modification process was conducted using two methods: oven-heating and hot press-heating, with temperatures set at 200°C for durations ranging from 1 to 5 hours. The results indicated that oven-heated samples exhibited higher surface roughness, weight loss, density reduction, and dimensional stability while showing less color change than hot press-heated samples. Additionally, the hot press-heated samples displayed more significant color changes (darkening) and smoother surface roughness. WL and decreased density were also more pronounced with longer heating durations, except for the 4- and 5-hour hot press-heating treatments. Notably, oven-heated samples demonstrated higher dimensional stability than hot press-heated samples as the duration of heating increased. Based on the results, the optimal treatment varies depending on the desired product characteristics. For improved surface qualities with consideration of WL, the optimum treatment is a 2-hour hot press-heating treatment. Higher dimensional stability can be achieved through a 3-hour oven-heating treatment.

Abstract

Food is one of the factors that can affect human health. Food that is suitable for consumption is food that is of good quality, does not contain poison and is still fresh. Therefore, existing restaurants must implement sanitary hygiene in accordance with Permenkes No. 2 of 2023 concerning Implementation Regulations of Government Regulation No. 66 of 2014 concerning Environmental Health. In Warmindo restaurants in the Banyuraden area, there are still restaurants with incomplete facilities and unhygienic behavior of food handlers such as smoking while processing food and taking ice by hand, which can adversely affect food or even cause food poisoning.

Abstract

Abstract Hospitals are healthcare facilities that produce solid, liquid, and gas waste. Liquid waste produced from hospital activities contains hazardous and toxic materials, so it needs to be treated before being discharged into water bodies. This study aims to remove Pb levels using the experimental quartz method, namely using avocado seed charcoal and bamboo charcoal. Sampling was conducted using the grab sampling method, with a total of 50 liters collected.  Avocado seed charcoal and bamboo charcoal have good adsorption capabilities, so they can remove Pb levels in hospital liquid waste. The method of this research is quasi-experimental. The results of the study showed that there was a decrease in Pb levels of 0.007 mg/L, which means that it does not exceed the quality standards set by the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No. 6 of 2021, which is a maximum of 0.01 mg/L. The highest average reduction in Pb levels was in the mixture of avocado seed charcoal and bamboo charcoal at 39.27%.

Abstract

The Coffee Shop culinary business in the industrial era 4.0 has become a trend among young people. Theexistence of the Covid-19 pandemic requires people to keep their distance and limit activities outside thehome is a challenge in the sustainability of this business, so that these conditions have resulted in adecrease in sales levels. Bosque Café, one of the coffee shop businesses in the city of Gresik, must createquality services to provide comfort in the midst of pandemic conditions and the high business competitionof fellow coffee shops that have been getting higher recently. To attract visitors, several ways must bedone, one of which is to improve the quality of service to customers. The use of the science method to mapthe quality of service with a cartesian diagram can find out the service priorities that must be improved andmaintained. Meanwhile, the KANO model is used for improvement in accordance with the attributes thatmost affect the quality of service. The purpose of this study is to measure the level of customer satisfactionwith the quality of service at Bosque Cafe with an IPA and KANO approach and propose improvements toattributes that affect customer satisfaction. The results of the analysis show that there are 12 serviceattributes that must be improved which are divided into 3 criteria, namely improving human resources, improving services by employees, improving facilities to provide a sense of security and comfort tocustomers
