Abstract

This study aims to to examine the concept of multicultural Islamic education and its implementation as a means of instilling the values of tolerance and diversity in elementary schools. In the context of Indonesia’s pluralistic society, primary education plays a strategic role in shaping children's character to respect cultural, religious, and ethnic differences. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, reviewing various academic sources on Islamic education, multiculturalism, and character education. The findings reveal that multicultural Islamic education can instill tolerance values through the integration of inclusive and peace-oriented Islamic teachings, as well as through learning activities that emphasize appreciation of diversity. Implementation of this approach can be carried out through teacher role modeling, intercultural activities, and curricula that uphold pluralism. Multicultural Islamic education has proven effective in shaping students who are tolerant, inclusive, and capable of living harmoniously in a diverse society.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the role of Islamic education in fostering tolerance towards cultural diversity in elementary schools using a literature study approach. A multicultural society is a group that accepts diversity. Islamic education has a responsibility to instill the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence from an early age. This study examines various literature on the concept of tolerance in Islamic teachings, inclusive learning approaches, and the implementation of these values in curriculum and school activities. The results of this study found that Islamic education delivered in a contextual and moderate manner can be an effective means of forming the character of students who are tolerant of cultural, ethnic, and religious differences. In instilling it, maximum support is needed by teachers who have a deep understanding of Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin, as well as a school environment that is conducive to cross-cultural interaction. This study suggests the integration of tolerance values in each learning to strengthen social harmony from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of multicultural education in forming tolerance attitudes in the elementary school environment. Multicultural education is an important approach in dealing with the cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity that exists in Indonesia, especially in schools with heterogeneous student backgrounds. The research method used was qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation in several public elementary schools 121 Hutabargot Julu. The results of the study show that the integration of multicultural values in learning and school activities plays a significant role in fostering mutual respect and respect for differences among students. In addition, the role of teachers as facilitators of tolerance greatly determines the success of the implementation of multicultural education. The obstacles found include a lack of training for teachers and not optimal curriculum support. Therefore, education policies that are more responsive to diversity and strengthen teachers' capacity in implementing a multicultural approach in a sustainable manner are needed.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze how the integration of Islamic and multicultural educational values in the learning of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) can build awareness of diversity among 4th grade students of SD Negeri 100801 Pasar Sempurna. In the context of a pluralistic Indonesian society, efforts to instill the values of tolerance, empathy, and respect for cultural, religious, and ethnic differences are very important from an early age. The values in Islamic teachings such as justice, compassion, and universal brotherhood are in line with the principles of multiculturalism that emphasize equality and respect for diversity. The method used in this study is a literature study with a qualitative approach. The results of the study show that the integration of these values can form the character of students who are more open, tolerant, and have strong national insights. In addition, the role of teachers as value facilitators, an inclusive school environment, and curriculum support that is responsive to diversity are factors that determine the success of the implementation of diversity-oriented learning. It is hoped that this article can be a practical and theoretical reference in the development of Islamic values-based and multicultural civic education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the role of Islamic education in instilling multicultural values in the elementary school environment. The method used in this study is a literature study. Along with the increasing social and cultural diversity in Indonesian society, there is a need for mutual respect, tolerance, and inclusivity from an early age for elementary school students. The principles that exist in Islamic education, which are universal, such as justice, brotherhood, and compassion, are very strategic in the face of the formation of a better multicultural character of students. From several relevant literature reviews, this study found that the integration of Islamic values in the curriculum, morality-based learning, and teacher examples play a significant role in the formation of students' multicultural attitudes. From the results of this research, it is hoped that it can contribute to the development of basic education strategies that are responsive to diversity.

Abstract

This study aims to improve fourth-grade students' understanding of fraction concepts at SDN No 100215 Persiapan Mosa Julu through the context of the Prophet's companions' stories as a model of Islamic and multicultural values. The problems identified were students' low understanding of fraction concepts and lack of integration of Islamic character values in mathematics learning. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 24 fourth-grade students from various ethnic backgrounds in the Mandailing area. Research instruments included fraction concept understanding tests, student activity observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The results showed significant improvement in fraction concept understanding from cycle I to cycle II. The average test score increased from 65.8 in cycle I to 83.3 in cycle II. Learning completeness increased from 62.5% to 87.5%. Student activities also showed improvement from sufficient to good category. The integration of Islamic and multicultural values through the Prophet's companions' stories proved effective in increasing student motivation and understanding.

Abstract

This article examines and describes through a literature study on Islamic perspectives on multicultural education in the context of elementary schools. Multicultural education is very important for many people, elementary schools have a very important role in the foundation of education in instilling the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and diversity. On this basis, this article analyzes Islamic principles such as rahmatan lil 'alamin, justice, equality, and respect for differences as a normative foundation in supporting multicultural educational practices. The article also reviews some of the literature that links Islamic teachings to inclusive and humanist pedagogical approaches in primary school settings. The results of the study show that Islamic values are essentially in line with the principles of multicultural education, resulting in the integration of both to strengthen the formation of students' character in dealing with socio-cultural diversity in a positive and constructive manner. This article is expected to be used as a reference for the development of curriculum and learning practices oriented to multicultural values based on Islam.
