Abstract

Permasalahan dalam pembelajaran matematika saat ini adalah hasil belajar matematika siswa masih rendah, hal tersebut disebabkan siswa kurang mampu memahami konsep dan pemecahan masalah matematika. Lingkungan sosial budaya dalam matematika dapat meningkatkan interaksi sosial siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Proses Pembelajaran matematika mestinya dikaitkan dengan lingkungan sosial budaya siswa. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana pengembangan model pembelajaran matematika problem solving berbasis budaya melayu yang valid, praktis dan efektif?. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran matematika problem solving berbasis budaya melayu (PSB2M) yang valid, praktis dan efektif pada pokok bahasan bangun datar. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan Tjeerd Plomp dengan memperhatikan tiga aspek kualitas material yang dikemukakan Nieveen yaitu aspek kevalidan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Bunga Raya Kabupaten Siak. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Model Pembelajaran Problem Solving Berbasis Budaya Melayu (PSB2M) tentang bangun Datar yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif, dan perangkat pembelajaran sebagai pendukung penerapan Model Pembelajaran Matematika Problem Solving Berbasis Budaya Melayu dalam materi Bangun Datar dan Perangkat pembelajaran matematika tersebut adalah; rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, buku siswa, buku guru, lembar kegiatan siswa, dan tes hasil belajar. Perangkat-perangkat tersebut memenuhi kriteria valid dan hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran tersebut dapat mendukung penerapan model pembelajaran terlaksana secara praktis dan efektif. Tingkat kevalidan model pembelajaran problem solving berbasis budaya melayu beserta seluruh perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan termasuk kategori valid. Tingkat kepraktisan model pembelajaran problem solving berbasis budaya melayu beserta seluruh perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran di kelas termasuk kategori sedang. Ketercapaian keefektifan model pembelajaran matematika problem solving berbasis budaya melayu disimpulkan berdasarkan persentase banyak siswa yang memiliki tingkat penguasaan minimal tinggi dan sangat tinggi adalah 80% dari 30 siswa yang mengikuti tes. Persentase ini menunjukkan dari ketercapaian ketuntasan belajar siswa secara klasikal, persentasi waktu ideal untuk setiap kategori aktivitas siswa dan guru sudah dipenuhi, rata-rata nilai kategori kemampuan guru mengelola pembelajaran adalah 3,5 termasuk dalam kategori baik. Respon siswa terhadap lingkungan sosial budaya melayu dan kegiatan proses pembelajaran adalah positif.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance junior high school students’ English-speaking skills through assisting the English Club at SMP Al-Faruki. This program was designed to support students' interests and talents in speaking English. The program was conducted for five days, from June 19 to 24, 2023. Various activities such as news reading, reading through story strips, story-telling, English debate, dan fun speaking games, were employed to build students’ confidence and speaking abilities. Evaluation was conducted through qualitative analysis namely, observation and rating of speaking performance of pre-test and post-test. The results revealed that most of the students became more confident in using English after the program. The program also had a positive impact on student motivation and enthusiasm toward the English Club. Thus, the programs implemented in this community service activity could be continued as part of extracurricular activities recommended for students who are interested in enhancing their speaking skills outside the classroom.

Abstract

English proficiency has become an essential skill that significantly influences academic achievement, professional opportunities, and cross-cultural communication. This study investigates the implementation of the English Curriculum at the State Islamic College of Mandailing Natal, focusing on the challenges and opportunities inherent in the current pedagogical framework. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, involving two lecturers, and thirty students. The analysis revealed that traditional, lecture-based teaching methods, resource limitations of material, and fragmented curriculum delivery pose significant challenges to effective language instruction. Conversely, the study identified promising opportunities, such as the integration of interactive teaching strategies, enhanced use of digital tools, and ongoing professional development for educators, which could bridge the gap between theoretical content and practical application. The findings suggest that targeted curriculum reforms are essential to create a more engaging and effective learning environment, ultimately enhancing students’ English language proficiency and preparing them for academic and professional success.

Abstract

This study investigates the mental health challenges faced by santri (Islamic boarding school students) in pesantren at Mandailing Natal, alongside the effectiveness of spiritual practices and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) as coping mechanisms. Employing a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data from 200 active santri were analyzed using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21), complemented by qualitative interviews with santri and ustadz (religious teachers). Findings reveal that female santri and those in grades 4–6 exhibited greater vulnerability compared to male santri and those in tsanawiyah (junior secondary) levels (p<0.05). Grade 4 marked a significant increase in mental health challenges. Salaf (traditional pesantren) reported higher anxiety levels (Mean=16.24, SD=10.87, p=0.041) compared to semi-modern institutions. Regular spiritual practices were found to reduce depression, though they proved less effective for drop-out santri facing modern pressures. SEL demonstrated potential in mitigating anxiety (OR=0.62, p=0.038, CI=0.39–0.98), with 80% of ustadz expressing support despite concerns over secularization. Integrating spirituality and SEL is recommended to holistically support santri's well-being within a modern context.

Abstract

This study investigates test anxiety among students at Aek Hayuara Sibuhuan Islamic Boarding School during formative assessments in English learning and explores the factors contributing to their anxiety. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research selected participants through purposive sampling. Data collection methods included closed-ended questionnaires and interviews. The findings reveal that the majority of students experience test anxiety, which manifests in two key dimensions: emotionality and worry. Furthermore, four primary factors contribute to this anxiety: fear of failing the course, psychological distress, poor study skills, and low self-esteem.

Abstract

This research aims to determine how teachers implement the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project in the Independent Curriculum in class V in elementary schools. This research was conducted at Jambi City State Elementary School (SD) 1/IV in the even semester in the academic year of 2022/2023. This research uses a qualitative research methodology with a phenomenological research type. Research data was obtained directly through data collection techniques: observation, interviews, and documentation with the class V homeroom teachers, namely Mrs. S, Mr. AP, Mrs. NEP, Mr. VK, and Mrs. F. After carrying out a series of data collection techniques, the data was then analyzed using the method of Miles and Huberman: reducing data, presenting data, and verifying data. This research shows that in implementing the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students, teachers are guided by the guidebook to develop their ways of teaching them through several stages (2022). In the first stage, teachers understand the project for strengthening the profile of Pancasila students. Next, the teacher designs the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students. Then, the teacher manages the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students. Lastly, the teacher processes the assessment and reports the project results to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students. This research concludes that the fifth-grade teacher at SDN 1/IV Jambi City has successfully implemented the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students. It can be seen in the achievement of learning outcomes. Implementing the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students can be used as an example for other teachers to implement similar learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat kecemasan berbicara siswa dalam bahasa asing dan faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadapnya dalam presentasi kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus di SMAN 1 Kampar Timur pada tahun ajaran 2022-2023. Sebanyak empat siswa kelas sepuluh dijadikan sampel penelitian dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, observasi, dan wawancara satu lawan satu. Kuesioner FLCAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale) digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat kecemasan berbicara siswa. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami tingkat kecemasan yang bervariasi, termasuk tingkat sangat cemas dan cemas. Dalam analisis data, delapan faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap kecemasan berbicara siswa diidentifikasi. Faktor-faktor ini meliputi kurangnya rasa percaya diri, tata bahasa yang kurang baik, pengucapan yang buruk, ketakutan akan membuat kesalahan, ketakutan akan dicemooh, ketakutan akan penilaian negatif, kurangnya persiapan, dan ketakutan akan ujian. Hasil penelitian ini juga menyoroti pentingnya keterampilan tata bahasa dalam mengatasi kecemasan berbicara siswa. Terakhir, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kecemasan berbicara siswa tidak dapat hanya dinilai dari tingkat kecemasannya, melainkan juga harus mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadapnya. Salah satu faktor utama adalah kurangnya persiapan untuk presentasi di kelas.
