Abstract

Effective learning requires a deep understanding of the ontology, epistemology, and axiology underlying the learning model used. This article presents a review of the ontology, epistemology, and axiology underlying the Case Based Blended Learning with Mind Mapping (CBBL-MP) Model in the context of teaching students creative scientific ideas, collaboration, and social communication. In this review, we explore the ontological view of reality, epistemological view of knowledge, and axiological view of values and ethics relevant to the application of this learning model. The ontological exploration looks at assumptions about the learning universe, epistemology addresses the sources and validity of knowledge, and axiology highlights the values that are valued in the context of collaborative learning. With a deeper understanding of these foundations, it is expected that the use of the CBBL-MP Model can improve the quality of teaching and learning in developing students' scientific creative ideation, collaboration, and social communication skills.

Abstract

Independent learning ability is a person's ability to learn and develop knowledge, skills and understanding independently. Independent learning abilities involve cognitive abilities, strategies, and attitudes that enable a person to take initiative in their own learning process. The ability to learn independently also has an impact on the 21st century skills that students must have, these skills include creative thinking, critical thinking and problem solving, communicating and collaborating. On the other hand, in class it is often found that Electronics Engineering students are still weak in their independent learning abilities. The role of the teacher is still dominant and is the only source of learning for students in solving problems. The main cause is thought to be that learning media is less effective in increasing independent learning so that students are too dependent on teachers. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of the Proteus application on the independent learning abilities of Electronics Engineering students. The research method used is a narrative literature review. A total of 20 articles from international journals were used as research samples. Research findings show that the Proteus application has an influence in improving the independent learning abilities of Industrial Electronics Engineering students. This is supported by the data contained in each research sample. Implementing the Proteus application can also be an alternative in improving students' 21st century abilities. However, this research only examines one type of media. Recommendations for further research can be carried out by comparing the effectiveness of the Proteus application with other applications used in learning Industrial Electronics Engineering.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance learning motivation among preschool-aged children. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA standards, 9 empirical studies published between 2013 and 2023 were analyzed to examine the pedagogical impact of AR-PBL in early childhood education. The results reveal that AR increases sensory engagement and curiosity, while PBL encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and autonomy. Together, AR-PBL fosters deeper exploration, sustained attention, and task persistence in learners aged 4–7. Despite its benefits, implementation challenges persist, including lack of teacher training, limited infrastructure, and the need for culturally relevant content. The study highlights the potential of AR-PBL to transform traditional instruction, particularly in under-resourced rural settings like TK Masyitoh Bangkalan, where themes such as “recognizing nearby animals” can be enhanced through immersive, localized learning experiences. This review concludes that AR-PBL represents a promising educational innovation aligned with developmentally appropriate practices. Future research should focus on classroom-based trials and long-term impact studies. The findings provide practical recommendations for educators and developers to design engaging, accessible, and context-sensitive digital learning environments for early childhood learners.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Scratch-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the critical thinking skills of seventh-grade students in Informatics subject, specifically on computational artifact development. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, using a pretest-posttest control group. The research sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that implemented the Scratch-assisted PBL model, and a control class that used a conventional learning model. The critical thinking assessment instrument was developed based on five indicators from Facione: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test to determine the significance of the differences between the groups. The results of the independent samples t-test showed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups (t(38) = 3.45, p = 0.004). The mean posttest score of the experimental group increased significantly from 62.4 to 83.6, with a large effect size (Cohen's d) of 1.24. The research sample consisted of 40 seventh-grade students divided into two groups. The inference and explanation indicators showed the highest improvement. In addition to the score improvement, project-based learning with Scratch also facilitated 21st-century skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and student digital agency. The integration of Scratch provided space for computational thinking, solution visualization, and self-reflection. This study recommends the use of digital-based PBL models as an innovative learning strategy aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum.
