Abstract

This research focuses on designing an automatic chicken feeding device based on Arduino Uno which is designed to increase efficiency and regularity in feeding. This system uses an Arduino Uno as a controller, a servo motor for the feeding mechanism, an infrared sensor to detect the presence of feed, and an I2C LCD to display status and monitoring data. When the sensor detects the feed bin is empty, the servo motor is activated to open, fill the feed, and close the feed bin again. Tests show that this system is able to manage feeding 500 grams of feed to the silo well. The average feed spilled when the servo motor is open is 42.75 grams at a 30° angle, 84.75 grams at a 45° angle, 100 grams at a 65° angle, and 177.75 grams at a 90° angle. This system reduces human involvement and ensures feed is provided evenly and regularly. The infrared sensor has high accuracy, and the servo motor functions well in the feeding mechanism. In addition, feed status can be monitored in real-time via LCD and Serial Monitor. In conclusion, this tool is effective for increasing the productivity and efficiency of chicken farming. Further development is suggested for IoT integration and adaptation for different types of poultry as well as environmental conditions.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of growth mindset on academic resilience among students in Indonesia and Malaysia. A growth mindset, characterized by the belief that abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, is hypothesized to enhance students' resilience in facing academic challenges. This comparative study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from students across various educational institutions in both countries. The findings reveal that students with a pronounced growth mindset demonstrate higher levels of academic resilience, evidenced by their ability to cope with setbacks and maintain motivation during difficult times. Moreover, cultural factors influencing mindset development and resilience strategies are explored, highlighting both similarities and differences between Indonesian and Malaysian students. The study concludes that fostering a growth mindset can significantly enhance academic resilience, suggesting implications for educational practices and interventions aimed at improving student outcomes. Abstract

Background: Anorectal malformations are congenital conditions with a range of clinical presentations. They can be associated with portal hypertension or anatomical anomalies that obstruct venous outflow. While anorectal issues are common in pediatrics, their etiology and management can differ significantly from those in adults. This report presents a successful case of pediatric hemorrhoids managed surgically with a satisfactory outcome. Case presentation: A 4-year-old girl presented with a protruding anal lesion and intermittent constipation, first noticed at age 1. She was born aterm with no abnormalities. Physical examination revealed a 0.5 to 1 cm circular lesion obstructing the anal orifice, diagnosed as a grade-IV internal hemorrhoid. Laboratory results were within normal limits. Due to the severity of the lesion, a Whitehead hemorrhoidectomy was performed. Follow-up showed no complications, such as secondary wound healing, anal stricture, or mucosal ectropion. Conclusion: Whitehead hemorrhoidectomy is an effective treatment for severe pediatric hemorrhoids, as demonstrated by this case with a complication-free recovery. Accurate surgical technique and vigilant follow-up are key to a successful outcome.
