Abstract

International communication and diplomacy are significantly influenced by development of technology and communication. The role of diplomats as frepresentatives of the country has been redefined along with public communication activities increasement through social media. This study provides an overview of China's efforts in influencing the formation of public images and opinions through social media carried out by its diplomats. Their aim is to defend China's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and challenge anyone who questions the events about the issue. This study uses qualitative methods, providing in-depth descriptions through data collection techniques based on internet-based research. This study shows that China is trying to demonstrate hard-line diplomacy called wolf warrior diplomacy. Through social media, Chinese diplomats are seen as government agents who promote national interests of their country, which in this context is related to the COVID-19 pandemic. By acknowledging the term wolf warrior diplomacy, provocative propaganda become a diplomatic tool practiced by Chinese diplomats. China's courage in taking an unconventional approach to the concepts and practices of traditional diplomacy and international communication is seen as part of China's long-term plan.

Abstract

Abstract   This study aims to find out how the Chinese media view Indonesia in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. From 2020 to 2021, Indonesia still has not been able to produce significant progress in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. This phenomenon is also in the international spotlight. Two Chinese mass media, South China Morning Post (SCMP) and Xinhua News reported information on the development of handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This study uses qualitative research methods with secondary data derived from journals, news, and other academic texts. Data analysis was carried out using the theories and concepts of communication and global media and mass media. Based on this research, it was found that there are two different views of the Chinese mass media. SCMP reported that the handling of Covid-19 tends to be slow, including traditional treatment in East Kalimantan. On the other hand, Xinhua News said that Indonesia is trying to meet health needs for handling Covid-19. Keywords: Mass Media, China, Indonesia, Covid-19 Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pandangan media Tiongkok terhadap Indonesia dalam menghadapi pandemi Covid-19. Dari tahun 2020 hingga 2021, Indonesia masih belum dapat menghasilkan perkembangan signifikan dalam penanganan pandemi Covid-19. Fenomena ini juga menjadi sorotan internasional. Dua media massa Tiongkok, South China Morning Post (SCMP) dan Xinhua News memberitakan informasi perkembangan penanganan pandemi Covid-19 di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan data sekunder yang berasal dari jurnal, berita, dan naskah akademik lainnya. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori dan konsep komunikasi dan media global dan media massa. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa terdapat dua pandangan berbeda dari media massa Tiongkok. SCMP memberitakan bahwa penanganan Covid-19 yang cenderung lambat, termasuk adanya pengobatan secara tradisional di Kalimantan Timur. Di lain sisi, Xinhua News menyampaikan bahwa Indonesia berusaha untuk memenuhi kebutuhan kesehatan untuk penanganan Covid-19. Kata kunci: Media Massa, Tiongkok, Indonesia, Covid-19

Abstract

This study aims to examine Implementation Of The Prosperous Africa Program United States Government  Foreign Assistance In Africa. The interests of the United States Government to maintain security and prosperity is a priority that is carried out by America. Africa is one of the continents that has received more attention from the United States in recent decades, with potential starting to show in Africa and American interests, hence the Prosperous Africa Initiative program created during the Trump administration. However, due to the lack of research examining Prosperous Africa, this research is expected to be a reference for studying the implementation of development assistance points. Conceptually, foreign aid is provided by developed countries to assist development in developing countries, but of course it is also motivated by their interests. In this case, two African countries are used as case studies, namely Nigeria and Kenya. This program has increased the added value of the agribusiness sector, especially the tomato processing industry. In Kenya Prosper Africa has helped improve technological capabilities in the agricultural sector, especially irrigation systems. This program is a manifestation of the interests of the United States Government to balance China's influence on the African continent. A good agricultural sector will create great agribusiness sector opportunities, Prosperous Africa sees such opportunities in Nigeria and Kenya, with the strength of the American Government through technology for agriculture being an opportunity for American companies and the private sector to take advantage of.Keywords: Implementation; Prosperous Africa Program; Foreign; Government

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana pandangan media massa Tiongkok dalam menanggapi konflik Rusia dan Ukraina yang ditinjau dengan studi kasus melalui media Xinhua News. Konflik tersebut membuat ramai masyarakat global karena adanya aksi militer. Media massa secara umum menganggap bahwa kebijakan yang dilakukan oleh Rusia adalah invasi militer ke Ukraina. Namun, terdapat perbedaan pandangan dari negara-negara yang memiliki hubungan diplomatik dengan Rusia, salah satunya adalah Tiongkok. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan sumber data sekunder yang berasal dari berita, jurnal, dan laporan secara daring. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Xinhua News cenderung menggunakan bahasa yang abstrak dan konsep berita yang lebih menunjukkan upaya solusi damai dan negosiasi. Fenomena ini dapat dipahami bahwa hubungan diplomatik antara Tiongkok dan Rusia berpengaruh pada peran media massa yang berfungsi sebagai framing pada masyarakat sesuai dengan kepentingan politik negara.Kata kunci: Media Massa, Xinhua News, Tiongkok, Rusia, Ukraina.

Abstract

Empowerment of digital literacy skill intends to acquire. This study employed content analysison 36 journal articles that had been published in SINTA (Science and Technology Index), an onlinescientific porta l managed by Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of theRepublic of Indonesia, with articles published in 2017 – 2022 with digital literacy as the main focusof the study. This current study has revealed that over the past three years, there has been asignificant increase in the number of publications focusing on research on digital literacy skill. Themajority of the 36 publications the researcher reviewed showed that quantitative researches wereone point or more superior to quantitative research. Additionally, senior high school students wereprimarily selected as the research subjects, with the topic of measuring the level of digital literacyskills being the most popular one. In light of the study's findings, some recommendations have beenmade for additional research. First and foremost, it is essential to improve the research anddevelopment method in order to create more educational materials with the goal of raising teachers'and students' low levels of digital literacy. Second, it is advised that when conducting any research,the researchers choose the test that best fits their hypothesis and research design.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh tingkat literasi digital terhadap pengelolaan privasi komunikasi remaja dalam peer group pada siswa MA Usb Filial MAN Batam serta mengkaji keterkaitan antara tingkat literasi digital dan pengelolaan privasi komunikasi remaja dalam peer group dengan menggunakan teori manajemen privasi komunikasi (CPM). Metode yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif, dengan jenis penelitian eksplanasi. Teknik pengambilan sampel probability sampling dengan menggunakan proportionate stratified random sampling. Peneliti menggunakan teknik survei dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada 86 responden. Hasil akhir penelitian ini yaitu hubungan antara tingkat literasi digital dan pengelolaan privasi komunikasi terletak pada kategori cukup lemah. Peneliti mendapatkan hasil bahawa tingkat Literasi Digital berpengaruh positif dan berkontribusi sebesar 36,30% terhadap Pengelolaan Privasi Komunikasi. Penelitian ini sejalan dengan teori manajemen privasi komunikasi (CPM) dimana literasi digital sebagai sarana pengelolaan privasi komunikasi remaja dalam peer group.

Abstract

This study examines the attitude of Instagram followers @taulebih.id towards LGBTQ+ content on the Instagram provides information about sexual education based on an Islamic point of view. One of them is the Instagram account @taulebih.id which often provides information about LGBTQ+ to give a complete picture of the LGBTQ+ community from an Islamic viewpoint. This study uses a quantitative method with an explanatory approach. The information integration theory states accumulate information has latent power and can influence individuals to have certain attitudes. Information Integration Theory focuses on how individuals collect and organize information about accumulate information to act positively or negatively towards attitude objects. Researchers used questionnaire on Instagram with 100 respondents. The results of hypothesis testing using the t-test show that the influence of LGBTQ+ content @taulebih.id with the valance and weight dimensions significantly affects followers' attitudes. The results obtained by Ha are accepted, which means that there is a significant influence on the attitude of followers or followers who agree with the statements in the @taulebih.id account. This can be proven from the data results of t count 14.789 which is greater than t table, namely 1.292 so that it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

Kesejahteraan kualitas hidup dan keamanan sebuah negara adalah suatu indikator kemajuan suatu bangsa. Dengan jumlah penduduk sebanyak 270 juta jiwa, Indonesia dinobatkan sebagai negara dengan populasi tertinggi ke-4 di dunia. Dengan populasi sebanyak ini, maka akan sangat sulit untuk menjaga kualitas hidup warga negara terutama dalam hal keamanan negara Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pendapat masyarakat DKI Jakarta apabila sistem kebijakan Poin Sosial Tiongkok diterapkan di DKI Jakarta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan 880 responden masyarakat DKI Jakarta. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan Uji t dengan alpha 0,05. Hasil penelitian Thitung (9,452) > Ttabel (1,963) dan Sig (0,001) < Alpha (0,05) menunjukkan hasil positif yang menyatakan bahwa kebijakan Poin Sosial Tiongkok akan berpengaruh meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat DKI Jakarta bila diterapkan di DKI Jakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the power of social media to influence people in Indonesia with the fraud case carried out by crazy rich Doni Salmanan and Indra Kenz, as well as the Big Data claim case which shows the postponement of the 2024 election. Social media has become a new medium for interaction, so that many parties who use social media ranging from individuals, influencers, business people, companies to government agencies to share activities, information, promotions and even show off their wealth and luxurious lifestyle. The concepts used in this study include Big Data and Flexing as an analytical instrument for the phenomena in this study. Researchers used qualitative methods using secondary data. The results of this study indicate that there is a common thread between social media, flexing carried out by crazy rich Doni Salmanan and Indra Kenz, and Big Data regarding the postponement of the 2021 elections where social media has strong power to influence and control public opinion in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) find out how the cultural identity displayed by the East Java culture and tourism department as East Java tourism branding in the Instagram content @disbudparjatimprov; and (2) determine the effectiveness of the East Java culture and tourism agency's tourism branding by highlighting East Java's cultural identity. This research is qualitative-descriptive research. The primary data source used in this research is East Java Disbudpar Instagram content. The data analysis technique in this research uses the Miles and Huberman perspective in the form of data presentation, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that (1) Cultural identity as East Java tourism branding in Instagram @disbudparjatimprov content contains dimensions of entertainment, interaction, trends and customization; and (2) East Java Disbudpar takes advantage of tourism promotion opportunities through social media along with the advantages of the Instagram platform which is easy, global and interactive, being an effective and cheap way compared to promoting tourism through other media.
