Abstract

Penyerapan air merupakan salah satu sifat resin komposit yang berpengaruh terhadap kekuatan, daya tahan abrasi, volume dan stabilitas warna. Silane berfungsi untuk membentuk ikatan tahan lama antara bahan organik dan anorganik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan silane pada glass fiber non dental terhadap penyerapan air fiber reinforced composite, jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratorium, dengan sampel penelitian adalah glass fiber non dental dengan silane dan glass fiber nondental tanpa silane serta E-glass fiber dental dengan menggunakan uji Kruskall-Walls.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata penyerapan air dengan nilai rerata terendah pada kelompok fiber non dental dengan silane dan tertinggi pada kelompok fiber non dental tanpa silane,uji Kruskall-Walls didapat nilai p=0,077>0,05, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penambahan silane terhadap penyerapan air fiber reinforced composites dan hasil analisis Mann-Whitney pada data penyerapan air menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna antar kelompok hanya terjadi pada fiber non dental dengan silane dan tanpa silane (p0,05)

Abstract

Introduction: Student Sports Training and Development Center (PPLP) is a forum for prospective athletes to develop their sports talents without neglecting their achievements in the academic field. Sports activities are one of the activities that are at risk of dental avulsion. Knowledge of dental avulsion was very important for a trainer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of audio- visual media on the knowledge of the West Sumatra PPLP trainers about tooth avulsion. Method: This research is quantitative pre- experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. A total of 24 samples were used and measurements were made using a questionnaire. Results: The average knowledge of respondents before the intervention was 10.79 with a standard deviation of 2.340, the lowest knowledge score was 6 and the highest knowledge score was 14, the average knowledge of respondents after the intervention was 13.42 with a standard deviation of 1.585, the lowest knowledge score was 8 and the highest knowledge score is 15. Conclusion: There is an effect of audio-visual media as an educational medium on the level of knowledge of the Padang City PPLP trainers about the occurrence of dental avulsions.

Abstract

Radiografi kedokteran gigi merupakan alat bantu diagnostik paling penting untuk dokter gigi dan merupakan salah satu kunci penentu kesuksesan dari penegakan diagnosis.Tingkat pengetahuan dokter gigi terhadap prosedur radiografi merupakan faktor penting untuk mendapatkan kualitas radiografi yang baik.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan radiografi periapikal teknik bisektris pada mahasiswa angkatan 2017 FKG Baiturrahmah.Jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan rancangan penelitian cross sectional (potong lintang). Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa FKG Universitas Baiturrahmah angkatan 2017 yang berjumlah 98 orangdengan 49 sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling.Penelitian ini dilakukan secara online melalui aplikasi google form dan aplikasi zoom yang diakses oleh mahasiswa angkatan 2017 FKG Baiturrahmah. Penelitian ini berlangsung dari bulan Juni 2020 – Januari tahun 2021. Analisa data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisa univariat. Hasil dari penelitian pengetahuan baik (20,4%), pengetahuan sedang (69,4%), pengetahuan kurang (10,2%). Hasil penelitian terbanyak adalah sedang yaitu 34 orang (69,4%) tentang radiografi periapikal teknik bisektris pada mahasiswa angkatan 2017 FKG Baiturrahmah

Abstract

Fiber reinforced composite (FRC) resin can improve color stability. The most commonly used fiber in dentistry is E-glass fiber, but dental E-glass fiber has limitations and is expensive. The composition of non-dental E-glass fiber is almost the same but the concentration is different. E-glass fiber is difficult to adhere to composite resin so it requires silane coupling agent as a binder. The difference in color stability of E-glass fiber non dental reinforced composite with or without the addition of silane coupling agent was studied through quantitative research with laboratory experimental method using one group pretest and posttest de-sign. The samples were FRC plates obtained by purposive sampling method, 13 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick, which were divi-ded into 2 groups of E-glass fiber non dental with silane and without silane. The color stability test was carried out by Us-Vis spectrophotometer whose absorbance value and wavelength were calculated to determine the area value of l*a*b* in each sam-ple. Statistical analysis using independent t-test. Significant differences were found between non-dental E-glass fiber with silane and without silane. It was concluded that non-dental E-glass fiber with silane showed better color stability than without silane.

Abstract

Latar belakang: resin komposit merupakan bahan restorasi yang paling populer saat ini karena memiliki kelebihan estetik yang baik yaitu sewarna gigi, namun resin komposit memiliki keterbatasan sifat fisik yaitu penyerapan air. Penyerapan air dan waktu perendaman berpengaruh terhadap stabilitas warna. Alternatif yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi penyerapan air dan meningkatkan stabilitas warna yaitu digunakan resin komposit yang diperkuat oleh Fiber Reinforced Composite (FRC). Fiber yang paling sering digunakan dalam kedokteran gigi adalah E-glass fiber, akan tetapi di Indonesia E-glass fiber dental memiliki keterbatasan jumlah yang terbatas dan harga relatif mahal. E-glass fiber non dental dipilih sebagai alternatif karena komposisinya hampir sama dengan E-glass fiber dental dan biasa digunakan di dunia teknik. Tujuan: penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan stabilitas warna E-glass fiber non dental reinforced composite akibat lama perendaman dalam saliva buatan. Metode: jenis penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan eksperimental laboratorium menggunakan one group pretest and posttest design. Sampel berbentuk lingkaran dengan diameter 13 mm dan tinggi 2 mm yang terdiri dari 2 kelompok; kelompok perendaman 7 hari dan 14 hari masing-masing terdiri dari 4 sampel. Uji stabilitas warna dilakukan dengan Spektrofotometer Uv-Vis dimana nilai absorbansi dan panjang gelombang yang didapat akan dihitung luas daerah sehingga dapat ditentukan nilai L*a*b* pada tiap sampel. Hasil: hasil rerata pengukuran stabilitas warna E-glass fiber non dental reinforced composite selama 7 dan 14 hari perendaman dalam saliva buatan menunjukkan nilai rerata 14 hari perendaman berada sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan 7 hari perendaman namun tidak bermakna. Uji independent sample t-test diperoleh nilai p=0,442 0,05 artinya tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara perbedaan stabilitas warna E-glass fiber non dental reinforced composite akibat lama perendaman antara 7 hari dengan 14 hari. Kesimpulan: tidak terdapat perbedaan stabilitas warna E-glass fiber non dental reinforced composite akibat lama perendaman dalam saliva buatan. Penambahan E-glass fiber non dental pada resin komposit menunjukan stabilitas warna yang baik pada resin komposit.

Abstract

Porphyromonas gingivalis is a gram-negative anaerobic bacterium involved in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease that can lead to tooth loss. One way to control P.gingivalis is by using chlorhexidine, but continuous use can eliminate the sensation of saltiness on the tongue. Avocado (Persea americana Mill) is one of the natural ingredients that can be utilised as medicinal and antibacterial plants because it contains several secondary metabolite compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins and al-kaloids. The use of avocado peel as an antibacterial P.gingivalis is not yet known for certain so this research was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of avocado peel against P.gingivalis. The extract was obtained by extrac-tion using the maceration method, then tested for antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of avocado fruit peel against P.gingi-valis with concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%, chloramphenicol 30 μg/μL as positive control and dimethyl sulfoxide as negative control. This test was conducted using the disc paper diffusion method. It is concluded that the ethanol extract of avocado fruit peel had antibacterial activity against P.gingivalis. The 20% concentration had an average inhibition diameter of 9.92 mm and 100% concentration inhibition of 16.36 mm.

Abstract

The fiber that is most often used in dentistry is E-glass fiber, but in Indonesia E-glass fiber dental is limited by quantity and relatively expensive. E-glass fiber non dental was chosen as an alternative because the composition is almost the same as E-glass fiber dental and commonly used in the engineering world as a booster in the manufacture of gypsum panels, sculptures and automotive components. This study is aimed to determine the color stability difference between fiber reinforced composite (FRC) E-glass fiber dental and E-glass fiber non dental. This quantitative research is an experimental laboratory with a one group pretest and posttest research design. The sample is circular in shape with diameter 13 mm and height 2 mm consisted of E-glass fiber dental group and the E- glass fiber non dental group consisting of 4 samples for each group and given silane. After the color test using Spectrophotometer UV-Vis where the absorbance and wavelength values obtained will be calculated for the area so that the L*a*b* value and analysed using independent sample t-test, it was stated that there was no significant difference between the color of the fiber reinforced composite E-glass fiber dental and the E-glass fiber non dental. It is concluded that the use of E-glass fiber non dental can be used as a clinical standard because it has a good color stability value similar to that of E-glass fiber dental.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Penyakit rongga mulut yang rentan menyerang adalah karies. Menurut Hasil Riskesdas 2018 di Indonesia, karies pada anak mencapai angka 93%. Tingginya angka karies dapat disebabkan oleh pilihan makanan yang dikonsumsi anak, sehingga diperlukan tindakan pencegahan salah satunya melalui konsumsi buah-buahan yang kaya serat dan air seperti nanas dan pepaya, yang bertindak sebagai pembersih mulut alami atau self cleansing. Tujuan penelitian untuk menganalisis perbedaan efektivitas konsumsi buah nanas dan pepaya sebagai self cleansing terhadap perubahan debris indeks pada siswa Sekolah Dasar. Metode: Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi experimental dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Sampel keseluruhan terdiri dari 70 orang, dengan 35 peserta mengonsumsi nanas dan 35 peserta lainnya mengonsumsi pepaya. Teknik pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Parameter yang diuji adalah debris indeks sebelum dan sesudah konsumsi nanas dan pepaya. Analisis data menggunakan distribusi frekuensi dan uji T-test menggunakan software SPSS 26. Hasil: Rerata debris indeks sebelum konsumsi nanas sebesar 1,583, sesudahnya menjadi 0,674, dan selisih skor 0,909. Nilai rerata debris indeks sebelum konsumsi pepaya adalah 1,677 menurun menjadi 0,629, sehingga terdapat selisih 1,048. Nilai p-value 0,00<0,05 untuk kedua buah. Simpulan: Terdapat perbedaan efektivitas konsumsi buah nanas dan pepaya untuk tujuan self cleansing dalam kaitannya dengan perubahan debris indeks pada siswa di SDN 10 Sungai Sapih Kota Padang. Pepaya menunjukkan efektivitas yang lebih besar dalam mengurangi skor debris indeks dibandingkan dengan nanas.KATA KUNCI: buah Nanas (Ananas comosus (L.) According to the 2018 Riskesdas results in Indonesia, caries in children reached 93%. The high rate of caries can be caused by the food choices that children consume, so preventive measures are needed, one of which is by consuming fruits rich in fiber and water such as pineapple and papaya, which act as natural mouth cleansers or self-cleansers.The aim of the research was to determine the disparity in the efficacy of consuming pineapple and papaya as self-cleansing on changes in debris index among students at SDN 10 Sungai Sapih, Padang City. Methods: The research uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The total sample consisted of 70 people, with 35 participants consuming pineapple and the other 35 participants consuming papaya. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The parameter measured is the debris index before and after consumption of pineapple and papaya. Data analysis used frequency distribution and T-test using SPSS 26 software. Results: The results showed that the average debris index before pineapple consumption was 1.583, after which it became 0.674, the difference between the scores was 0.909. The average value of the debris index before consuming papaya was 1.677, decreasing to 0.629, so there was a difference of 1.048. The p-value is 0.00<0.05 for both fruits. Conclusions: There is a difference in the effectiveness of consuming pineapple and papaya for self-cleansing purposes in relation to changes in debris index among students at SDN 10 Sungai Sapih, Padang City. Abstract

ABSTRAKPendahuluan Gigi tiruan menjadi solusi yang tepat untuk menggantikan gigi alami yang hilang. Gigi tiruan jembatan dengan bahan porcelain fused to metal paling sering digunakan dalam praktik klinis, namun memiliki kekurangan seperti rentan pecah, memerlukan beberapa kali kunjungan, dan membutuhkan preparasi gigi penyangga yang cukup luas. Alternatif bahan yang dapat digunakan untuk gigi tiruan cekat adalah Fiber reinforced composite dengan E-glass fiber dental yang memiliki kelebihan seperti biokompatibilitas baik, memiliki kekuatan kompresi, dan estetika yang baik. Ketersediaan E-glass fiber dental di Indonesia masih terbatas dengan harga yang cukup mahal. E-glass fiber non dental secara umum biasanya digunakan di bidang teknik, sedangkan E-glass fiber dental biasanya digunakan di bidang kedokteran gigi, namun keduanya memiliki komposisi yang hampir sama. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh posisi E-glass fiber non dental terhadap kekerasan Fiber reinforced composite. Metode: Penelitian berjenis eksperimental dengan perbedaan posisi E-glass fiber non dental yang digunakan dalam Fiber reinforced composite. Pengujian dilakukan pada 3 kelompok sampel yang terdiri dari kelompok posisi tension side, kelompok compression side, dan kelompok neutral axis, yang masing - masing terdiri dari 6 kali pengulangan, kemudian diuji dengan menggunakan alat uji kekerasan vickers hardness tester.  Hasil: Hasil pengujian pada Fiber reinforced composite dengan posisi E-glass fiber pada tension side menunjukkan kekerasan tertinggi dengan nilai = 45,77 VHN, sedangkan pada posisi neutral axis nilai kekerasan = 43,35 VHN, dan pada posisi compression side memiliki nilai terendah = 39,60 VHN. Simpulan: Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa terdapat pengaruh posisi E-Glass fiber non dental terhadap kekerasan Fiber reinforced composite.KATA KUNCI: E-glass fiber, Fiber reinforced composite, posisi fiber, kekerasanThe effect of non-dental e-glass fiber position on the hardness of glass fiber reinforced composite in fixed dentures: experimental studyABSTRACT Introduction:Dentures are the right solution to replace missing teeth. Denture bridges made from porcelain fused to metal are most often used in clinical practice, but have disadvantages such as being prone to breaking, requiring several visits, and requiring extensive preparation of the abutment teeth. Alternative materials that can be used for fixed dentures are fiber-reinforced composites with E-glass dental fiber, which have advantages such as good biocompatibility, compression strength, and aesthetics. The availability of E-glass fiber dental in Indonesia is still limited, and the prices are quite expensive. Non-dental E-glass fiber is generally used in engineering, while dental E-glass fiber is usually used in dentistry; however their composition is very similar.The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the position of non-dental E-glass fiber on the hardness of fiber reinforced composite. Methods: Experimental research with fiber-reinforced composites using non-dental E-glass fiber in three different positions include the tension side position group, the compression side group, and the neutral axis group. Each group consisted of six samples and was tested using a Vickers hardness tester. Results: The test results on fiber-reinforced composite hardness showed the tension side position of the E-glass fiber had the highest hardness with a value of 45.77 VHN, the fiber on the neutral axis position had a value of 43.35 VHN, and the compression side had the lowest value of 39.60 VHN. Conclusions: The conclusion from this research is that the position of non-dental E-Glass fiber influences the hardness of fiber-reinforced composites.KEY WORDS: E-glass fiber, Fiber reinforced composite, fiber position, hardness

Abstract

ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Penggunaan E-Glass Fiber Reinforced Composite (FRC) dalam prostesis gigi cekat semakin populer karena mendukung sifat mekanik yang diinginkan. Pencapaian kekerasan optimal sangat penting untuk keberhasilan jangka panjang prostesis ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh penambahan silane coupling agent terhadap kekerasan FRC E-Glass non-dental pada gigi tiruan cekat. Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah studi eksperimen laboratorium dengan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif digunakan untuk menyelidiki dampak agen penggandeng silane terhadap kekerasan FRC E-Glass non-dental. Sampel dipersiapkan dengan konsentrasi berbeda dari silane coupling agent, dan kekerasan diukur menggunakan metode pengujian standar. Kondisi laboratorium diatur untuk mensimulasikan kondisi yang dihadapi dalam prostesis gigi cekat. Hasil: Terdapat korelasi signifikan antara penambahan silane coupling agent dan kekerasan FRC E-Glass non-dental. Konsentrasi silane coupling agent yang lebih tinggi terkait dengan peningkatan nilai kekerasan. Temuan ini memberikan wawasan berharga dalam mengoptimalkan komposisi FRC E-Glass fiber non dental untuk meningkatkan sifat mekanik pada prostesis gigi cekat. Simpulan: Penambahan silane coupling agent secara positif memengaruhi kekerasan FRC E-Glass non-dental yang digunakan dalam prostesis gigi cekat. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the addition of a silane coupling agent on the non-dental E-Glass FRC's hardness in fixed dental prostheses. Methods: This study is a laboratorium eksperimental with a quantitative research approach to investigate the impact of silane coupling agents on the hardness of non-dental E-Glass FRC. Specimens were prepared with varying concentrations of silane coupling agent, and the hardness was measured using standardized testing methods. The laboratory conditions were set up aimed to simulate the conditions encountered in fixed dental prostheses. Results: A significant correlation was revealed between the addition of silane coupling agent and the hardness of non-dental E-Glass FRC. Higher concentrations of silane coupling agent were associated with increased hardness values. The findings provide valuable insights into optimizing the composition of E-Glass fiber non dental FRC for enhanced mechanical properties in fixed dental prostheses. Conclusion: The addition of a silane coupling agent positively influences the hardness of non-dental E-Glass FRC used in fixed dental prostheses. This study contributes to the ongoing efforts to enhance the mechanical performance of dental materials, emphasizing the importance of optimizing silane coupling agent concentrations for improved hardness.KEY WORDS: e-glass, fiber, reinforced, composite, silane coupling agent.
