Abstract

Bullying remains a serious problem in adolescent development, particularly due to its widespread impact on psychological, social, and emotional aspects. Adolescents who experience bullying tend to face obstacles in forming social relationships, including a decline in interpersonal communication skills that play an important role in daily interactions. This study uses a descriptive approach with the aim of identifying patterns of interpersonal communication and aspects of character strengths that emerge in adolescents who have experienced bullying. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and relevant measurement instruments to gain an in-depth understanding of the psychological condition of the subjects. The subjects in this study were three adolescents who were victims of bullying. The results of the study show that adolescent victims of bullying generally tend to withdraw from social interactions, experience barriers in expressing their thoughts, stress, anxiety, lack of motivation to study, and emotions, and exhibit low self-confidence in communication. In terms of character strengths, it was found that some character strengths such as courage, perseverance, and emotional regulation had declined, although some aspects such as empathy and gratitude were still evident in some subjects.   Keywords: Interpersonal Communication, Character Strengths, Bullying

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in which the systolic blood pressure is above 140 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure is above 90 mmHg. Kidney failure is a progressive, irreversible disorder of renal function, in which kidney function declines in maintaining metabolism, fluid, and electrolyte balance, resulting in uremia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of ethanol extract of papaya leaves (Carica papaya L) in reducing blood pressure and serum creatinine levels in male white rats. This study was experimental in nature, using 60 rats divided into 12 groups, namely negative control, positive control, comparison group (captopril), and dose groups (100, 200, 400 mg/kg body weight). The inducer used for hypertension was 8% NaCl and the inducer for kidney failure was CCl4. Blood pressure measurements were carried out using a Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP) device, and the measurement of serum creatinine levels was performed using a photometer. Data analysis was conducted using One Way ANOVA followed by Duncan's test. The results showed that the administration of papaya leaf ethanol extract significantly affected the reduction of blood pressure and serum creatinine levels (p<0.05). It can be concluded that the most effective dose for lowering blood pressure is 400 mg/kg body weight, and the most effective dose for reducing serum creatinine levels is 100 mg/kg body weight.

Abstract

Cold lahar flooding following the eruption of Mount Marapi has caused significant damage to settlements, agricultural land, infrastructure, and the socioeconomic activities of communities in Agam Regency. This condition requires the active role of the nagari government as the frontline level of government in implementing disaster management and recovering affected areas. This study aimed to analyze the role of the Sungai Pua Nagari Government in managing cold lahar flooding following the eruption of Mount Marapi and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Informants were selected purposively and comprised representatives of the Nagari Government, relevant agencies, and affected communities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and were subsequently analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the Sungai Pua Nagari Government performed its role through three aspects, namely as a regulator, facilitator, and implementer. As a regulator, the nagari government formulated policies and supported the management of disaster-prone areas. As a facilitator, the nagari government coordinated various parties and facilitated the distribution of assistance, the relocation of residents, the recovery of agricultural land, and infrastructure repairs. As an implementer, the nagari government was directly involved in rehabilitation, reconstruction, and community mutual-assistance activities. The implementation of these roles was supported by high community participation, interinstitutional coordination, and support from the government and volunteers. However, limited budgets, human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and the extensive affected area meant that the recovery process had not yet been fully optimized. This study concluded that the Sungai Pua Nagari Government had performed a strategic role in post-disaster management and recovery, but the effectiveness of its implementation still required stronger institutional and resource capacity. These findings provide practical implications for nagari governments in improving coordination, resource preparedness, and the sustainability of disaster management programs in disaster-prone areas.
