Abstract

Background: Batok Village has quite a large agricultural land with the commodity of agricultural products, Alpinia galanga, but the selling value of Alpinia galanga is very cheap. Therefore, the community service team aims to provide education on planting TOGA and making disinfected products and balsam sticks to increase their market value. Methods: Steps taken are observation, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Results: In the observation, it was observed that Batok Village has agricultural land that is fertile enough for TOGA planting. The preparation process carried out is the manufacture of disinfectant products and balsam sticks with Alpinia galanga as the active ingredient. The Alpinia galanga disinfectant is shown to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, and the resulting balsam stick is solid, easy to apply, produces a warm effect, and does not irritate. Conclusion: The participants were very enthusiastic in participating in the PkM activities, and the results of the evaluation analysis of the participants' knowledge level increased.

Abstract

Corona virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a new type of disease that has never been identified before in humans with signs and symptoms including symptoms of acute respiratory disorders such as fever, cough and shortness of breath. COVID-19 can be prevented by improving the body's resistance to respiratory infections. Knowledge is an important domain for the formation of a person's behavior because actions based on knowledge will be more important than actions or behaviors that are not based on knowledge. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about COVID-19 and the use of Immunbooster as a form of infection prevention for employees at PT Phapros Tbk. The research method carried out was descriptive-analytic with a crosssectional research design. The sample in this study was employees at PT Phapros Tbk who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria based on purposive sampling method. For data in this study using primary data from research questionnaires filled out online. Data analysis of the results of the study was carried out using Spearman's rank correlation test. The results showed that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge of COVID-19 and the use of Immunbooster in employees of PT Phapros Tbk Semarang. as evidenced by the spearman's test value obtained value of 0.000 <0.050. The strength of the relationship is moderate as seen from the correlation coefficient value of 0.589 and the test results produce a correlation coefficient value has a positive direction, so it can be said that if COVID-19 knowledge increases, the behavior of using immunbooster will also increase or get better.

Abstract

Skin moisturizers are popular in the form of gel products. Natural ingredients that can be used to moisturize the skin are aloe vera and pumpkin, because they contain β-carotene which has strong antioxidant activity and flavonoids that can bond the water content in the stratum cSrneum. The combination of HPMC and carbopol 940 in the formulation of gel preparations is used as a gelling agent. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of aloe vera and pumpkin on the physical characteristics of gel preparations and effectiveness in moisturizing the skin.   The research steps of the extract were made by maceration method. Moisturizing gel was produced with LB:LK ratio in F1, F2, and F3 respectively (10:10), (12.5:7.5) and (15:5) and F0 as negative without extract.   The evaluation included organoleptic test, adhesion, spreadability, pH, viscosity, and testing the effectiveness of the preparation in moisturizing the skin on respondents measured using Skin Moisture Oil Content Analyzer CR-302 Data analysis using one-way ANOVA. The results of the physical evaluation of the gel product organoleptically F0 is transparent, F1-3 is yellow to brownish, semi-solid, and has a distinctive smell of extracts. Analysis of spreadability, adhesion, pH, and viscosity tests showed significant differences between formulas. Formula 3 with LB:LK (15%:5%) ratio produced a moisture value of 51-62% on day 14 which was higher than the other formulas.  Bahasa Indonesia Abstract:Pelembab kulit yang digemari oleh masyarakat umumnya dalam bentuk sediaan gel. Bahan alam yang dapat digunakan untuk melembapkan kulit yaitu lidah buaya (LB) dan labu kuning (LK), karena kandungan β-karoten yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang kuat dan flavonoid yang dapat mengikat kandungan air pada stratum korneum. Kombinasi HPMC dan karbopol 940 dalam formulasi sediaan gel digunakan sebagai gelling agent. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi lidah buaya dan labu kuning terhadap karakteristik fisik sediaan gel dan efektivitas dalam melembapkan kulit. Tahapan penelitian ekstrak dibuat dengan metode maserasi. Sediaan gel pelembab dibuat dengan perbandingan LB:LK pada F1,F2, dan F3 secara berturut-turut (10:10), (12,5:7,5) dan (15:5) serta F0 sebagai kontrol negatif tanpa ekstrak. Evaluasi yang dilakukan meliputi uji organoleptis, daya lekat, daya sebar, pH, viskositas, dan pengujian efektivitas sediaan dalam melembapkan kulit pada responden yang diukur menggunakan Skin Moisture Oil Content Analyzer CR-302. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan one-way ANOVA. Hasil evaluasi fisik sediaan gel secara organoleptis F0 transparan, F1-3 berwarna kuning sampai kecoklatan, berbentuk setengah padat, dan berbau khas ekstrak. Analisis uji daya sebar, daya lekat, pH, dan viskositas menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan antar formula. Formula 3 dengan perbandingan LB:LK (15%:5%) menghasilkan nilai kelembapan 51-62% pada hari ke 14 yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan formula lainnya.

Abstract

This study aims to see the antibacterial activity of ethanol extracts of garlic and turmeric in single and combination against Propionibacterium acnes. This type of research is an experimental study, which involves testing the antibacterial activity of ethanol extracts of garlic and turmeric, both singly and in combination, against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. The research process included extraction, antibacterial activity testing using the pitting method, and data analysis to see significant differences between treatment groups. Garlic bulbs and turmeric rhizomes were macerated with 70% ethanol solvent and tested for antibacterial activity on each of the ethanol extracts of garlic (5%; 7.5%; 10%) and turmeric (2.5%; 5%; 7.5%) as well as the concentration of Garlic:Turmeric Extract Combination (5%:2.5%; 7.5%:2.5%; 5%:5%; 7.5%:5%). The results showed that (1) the results of antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of garlic were 8.20 ± 0.08; 9 ± 0.26; 10.43 ± 0.25 mm (included in the moderate category); (2) the results of antibacterial activity of turmeric extract were 3.19 ± 0.23; 3.56 ± 0.35; 4.43 ± 0.52 mm (included in the weak category), respectively; (3) the results of antibacterial activity on the combination of extracts 2.86 ± 0.72; 3.64 ± 0.08; 4.42 ± 0.16; 5.31 ± 0.76 mm (included in the weak category); (4) the results of data analysis obtained are that there are significant differences in antibacterial activity between treatment groups.

Abstract

High occurrence of muscle pain has encouraged the development of practical natural solutions, such as stick balm formulated with galangal (Alpinia galanga) essential oil, which shows potential as a topical analgesic agent. This study formulated galangal stick balm to relieve muscle pain while meeting physical requirements and user preferences. The formulation involved variations in base composition (solid paraffin and white petrolatum) and methyl salicylate concentration to evaluate physical characteristics such as pH, homogeneity, melting point, and irritation potential. A hedonic test was conducted to determine the most preferred formula. Results showed that all formulas had safe pH levels (4.5–6.5), good homogeneity, melting points between 57–60°C, and caused no skin irritation in volunteers. Hedonic testing identified Formula F4 as the best candidate based on aroma, warmth, and texture. Therefore, galangal essential oil stick balm has promising potential to be developed as a safe, stable, and user-friendly analgesic topical preparation. Bahasa Indonesia Abstract: Tingginya kasus nyeri otot mendorong pengembangan solusi alami yang praktis, seperti balsam stik berbahan minyak atsiri lengkuas (Alpinia galanga), yang memiliki potensi sebagai agen analgetik topikal. Penelitian ini merumuskan formulasi balsam stik lengkuas untuk meredakan nyeri otot yang memenuhi syarat fisik dan disukai. Formulasi dilakukan dengan variasi komposisi basis (paraffin solid dan vaselin album) dan variasi metil salisilat untuk mengevaluasi karakteristik fisik seperti pH, homogenitas, titik lebur, dan potensi iritasi. Uji kesukaan dilakukan untuk melihat formula mana yang paling disukai. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula memiliki pH dalam rentang aman (4,5–6,5), homogenitas yang baik, titik lebur antara 57–60°C, serta tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kulit sukarelawan. Uji kesukaan menunjukkan Formula F4 sebagai kandidat terbaik berdasarkan aroma, kehangatan, dan tekstur. Dengan demikian, balsam stik minyak atsiri lengkuas berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai sediaan antinyeri yang aman, stabil, dan disukai pengguna.
