Abstract

Kata kunci: infeksi STH, alat pelindung diri, cuci tangan Abstract Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) infections are still a problem in endemic areas in various parts of the world, especially in developing countries with poor environmental sanitation and personal hygiene. According to WHO in 2017, more than 1.5 billion people or 24% of the total world population were infected by STH. Infections are spread in the tropics and subtropics including Indonesia with the most numbers in sub-Saharan, Africa, America, China and Asia. Farmers are vulnerable to being infected with STH because farmers rarely use proper personal protective equipment, for example clothes that cover the entire body, gloves and footwear. Farmers also don't use soap to wash their hands after work and before eating. This risky behavior increases the risk of STH infection, therefore efforts should be made to increase the knowledge and understanding of farmers in order to improve personal hygiene and clean and healthy living behavior. The method used in this service was training and counseling on how to use personal protective equipment and wash hands properly to avoid various worm infections transmitted through the soil. As a result of this service, there was an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in using personal protective equipment and hand washing behavior. Keywords: STH infection, personal protective equipment, washing hands

Statistical analysis of the data used was a chi-square test with 95%CI. Results: The majority of patients with dermatophyte infections were 19 years old (74%), female (57%), and tinea corporis (36%). The chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between age and sex with the incidence of dermatophytosis (p = 0.025; OR = 1.978; 95% CI = 1.087-3.599 and p = 0.003; OR = 2.357; 95% CI = 1.334-4.162). Conclusion: It can be concluded that older age and female tend to suffer dermatophytosis.
