Abstract

Walkability is the condition and quality of the pedestrian environment that is assessed through measuring the friendliness of the built environment and meeting the needs of pedestrians. In supporting the walkability of the area, it is not only done by beautifying the pedestrian path through the addition of physical accessories, but must be able to fulfill the aspects of usability, safety, accessibility, comfort, and a good environment. In this case, urban structure shows an important and significant factor because it can affect the ease of a person in moving places in urban areas, especially on foot. Urban structure components that affect walkability include land use diversity and road network configuration, which consists of connectivity and integration of the road network. The assessment of land use diversity is done through a derivative of the entropy index, namely weighted land use mixed (WLUM), while the road network configuration is assessed through space syntax. As a result, the Madiun City center corridor has a walkability value in the medium category. This shows that the urban structure in the central corridor of Madiun City is still not able to support the walking activities of its residents well, but also does not make it difficult for residents to carry out mobility on foot.

Abstract

The city of Surakarta is rapidly developing towards metropolitan, driving the formation of travel patterns to and from Surakarta where the station points become one of the main points. The role of Solo Balapan Station as the core transportation hub connecting Surakarta's internal and external areas has necessitated the design of an integrated transportation system with urban hubs or centers. Transit Oriented Development becomes an alternative concept designed to organize and develop activity centers in an area with land use variations integrated with urban transportation systems. Although some efforts have been shown as a seriousness of the government, it is not yet known for certain whether the characteristics of the supporting areas in the research area are ready to support the development of areas based on the TOD concept. This research is conducted in order to assess the extent to which the characteristics of supporting areas within an 800-meter radius around Solo Balapan Station support the development of the TOD concept. This research uses quantitative descriptive analysis through scoring analysis. The results show that the supporting area around Solo Balapan is not ready to support the development of the area with the Transit Oriented Development concept.

Abstract

The Golden Triangle Setiabudi represents an economic zone characterised by significant worker mobility. The congestion resulting from this high mobility can be alleviated by implementing the concept of Transit-Oriented Development at existing transit hubs with development potential, namely Setiabudi Astra Station and Bendungan Hilir Station. To implement this concept effectively, understanding the walking preferences of the worker demographic, particularly those aligned with utilitarian walking profiles, is essential. By discerning these preferences, it becomes possible to identify which transit points can cater to the walking requirements of the worker group. This research is executed through qualitative method with data and information obtained through questionnaire and field observations. This investigation revealed that connectivity and pedestrian infrastructure are pivotal factors influencing the walking preferences of the worker group. Both transit hubs also satisfy the criteria for these variables. Hence, it can be inferred that the areas surrounding Setiabudi Astra Station and Bendungan Hilir Station have met the walking preferences of the working demographic and possess the potential to evolve into Transit-Oriented Development zones. However, there is a need to address indicators that remain unmet, notably the block perimeter length, to offer more diverse walking route options for the worker group.

Abstract

Urbanization in Jabodetabek is leading to an increase in the need for transportation. The 2018 Jabodetabek Transportation Master Plan (RITJ) aims to address this issue by planning transit-oriented development (TOD) areas throughout Jabodetabek, including the Poris Plawad transit-oriented development (TOD) area in Tangerang City. Once designated as a transit-oriented development (TOD) area, there should be changes in land use in Poris Plawad to suit the needs of the transit-oriented development (TOD) concept. Properly organizing land use around transportation nodes is essential for the success of transit-oriented development (TOD) projects. This study examines how land use has evolved over 11 years, before and after Poris Plawad was designated as a transit-oriented development (TOD) area. This research utilizes quantitative methods through descriptive analysis to compare Poris Plawad’s land use changes as a transit-oriented development (TOD) area. This research identifies the proportion of land use in the Poris Plawad transit-oriented development (TOD) area. The results indicate that the land use changes in Poris Plawad align with the transit-oriented development (TOD) concept. This indicates that before there was a policy regulating of Poris Plawad transit-oriented development (TOD) area, Poris Plawad's land use had the potential to become a transit-oriented development (TOD) area.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization has become a significant global phenomenon, affecting not only major cities but also suburban areas, with profound impacts on various aspects of urban life. This article explores the correlation between the increase in population as an impact from urbanization and the availability of basic services in Rangkasbitung, which consists of 16 villages. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the availability of basic daily services on the amount of residential land use in Rangkasbitung. Basic services are assessed using the 20-Minute Neighbourhood parameter, which represents an area designed to provide essential services within a short walk for residents. This research uses quantitative descriptive methodology, with spatial analysis and descriptive statistical analysis. The study is limited to the availability of residential land use, basic services, and public transportation as the three main components in the development of urban residential areas based on the 20-Minute Neighbourhood parameter. The 20-Minute Neighbourhood is a city planning concept defined as an area where residents can access most activities necessary for a good life without traveling outside the area. The results indicate that the availability of basic services in an area affects residents' decisions on where to live.

Abstract

As the global trend is going into circular economy paradigm. The trend encourages business entities to focus on the production of durable, efficient, and reusable commodities to promote sustainable development. On the demand side, the market also gradually adjusts its preferences to commodities with sustainability values. With limited scale of capital, networks, and technology, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are usually lagged behind in catching new knowledge, especially those exchanged internationally. Sustainability, which is as an important knowledge under the circular economy trend, has caused serious problem for SMEs because those unable to catch the knowledge will be incompetent to serve the new market preferences and vulnerable to survive. Urban planning practices introduce the business district as one of spatial concepts to mediate the problem. It encourages enterprises with business linkages to locate next to each other and share activities and facilities. In Indonesia, the creative kampong is a local translation of business district concept, which emerges as a national hype. This research aims at studying the empirical case of the creative kampong and its knowledge transfer effectiveness for SMEs. By using the logic of Actor Network Theory (ANT) and focusing on the case study of four creative kampongs in Surakarta, we unravel the level of understanding of SMEs towards sustainability. Our data are based on stakeholder interviews and documentary reviews. The findings reveal that the majority of SMEs were understand of sustainability, and the creative kampong provided a significant contribution to ease the transfer knowledge process.

Abstract

ABSTRACTHappiness may be one of the most important pillars of life for people. The recent Indonesia’s happiness index has been measured by The Indonesia’s National Statistics Bureau (BPS) in 2021. The happiness index is composed by 19 indicators, which grouped into 3 dimensions, namely the dimensions of life satisfaction, feelings, and meaning of life. However, the presence of green spaces is not related to one of them. Meanwhile, there are three broad areas of research on happy cities: social determinants of well-being, economic determinants of well-being, and environmental determinants of well-being. One of the environmental determinants of well-being is the presence of green spaces. Many studies have shown that people who live in areas with more green spaces have less stress and emotional pressure, as well as a greater sense of happiness and satisfaction. This study aims to examine the relationship between the happiness index and the amount of public green spaces in Indonesia even though the happiness index measurement does not involve green spaces indicators. This study contributes by integrating spatial analysis with subjective well-being metrics in Indonesia’s urban policy context. The method used is simple linear regression analysis to determine the direction of influence and its magnitude. Data and information were collected from secondary sources. The results show that the area of public green spaces has positive effect to the happiness index even in Indonesia. It is suggest the need for integrating green infrastructure in happiness indicators and spatial planning programs. Keywords: Happy City, Urban Happiness, Green Spaces, Happiness Index, Indonesia ABSTRAKKebahagiaan mungkin merupakan salah satu pilar terpenting dalam hidup manusia.
