Abstract

Students have role as an agents of change by participating in organization without neglecting their academic achievement. Student’s academic achievement is measured by Grade Point Average (GPA). Students need a good skill to manage their time between academic activities, and organizational activities. We conduct research to determine the relationship of organizational participation with level of time management and GPA of students batch 2013 in Medical Faculy of Lampung University.This research method is a comparative and correlative analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approac. This research was conducted in June 2016 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lampung. The sample was selected by consecutive sampling and obtained 40 respondents for each student who was active and not active in organizing. The hypothesis test used was the Chi-square comparative test and the Gamma correlative test. The level of time management based on organizational participation showed no significant difference. There was a significant difference in the GPA based on the activeness of organizing with a better GPA on students who wereactive in organization. There was no relationship between the level of time management with the level of GPA.

Abstract

Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) is a peer learning method that focuses on students as mentors. The Peer Assisted Learning Method has been used in anatomy study in Faculty of Medicine. Peer assisted learning helps improve student achievement and communication. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship student perceptions about anatomy practicum PAL with the results of the anatomy lab exam. The design of this study uses the analytic observation method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique in the form of total sampling with a population of 225 respondents, 163 respondents participated in the study, and 59 respondents entered into the exclusion criteria. This study uses primary data in the form of student perceptions assessed by Clinical Teaching Preference Questionnaire (CTPQ) and secondary data in the form of anatomical practicum exam in the block Medical Basic Science 2 (MBS2). The data obtained will be tested with the Spearman test. The results of this study obtained the student perception have median value of 35 while result of examination of anatomy practice have average value of 26. Based on the results the spearman test found that there is no relation between student perception about laboratory anatomy PAL with result of anatomical laboratory examination (p = 0.2) with a very weak correlation (r = 0.09).

Abstract

The learning environment in medical education cast of physical, non-physical/social context in which students study. The learning environment creates an atmosphere of learning that influences student behaviors and efforts that are visible from the way they choose a learning approach that ultimately affects learning outcomes. The learning approach consists of a deep approach and a surface approach. The study aim to find the relationship between the perception of learning environment and learning approach among first year student at the Medical Faculty Lampung University. This is a cross sectional study with sample of 214 first year medical students. Data were collected using Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) and Revised Two-Factor Study Process Questionnaire (R-SPQ-2F). There are 87 students (40,7%) have excellent perception to learning environment and 127 students (59,3%) have good perception. There were 202 students (94.4%) using deep approach and 12 students (5.6%) using surface approach. Students have excellent perceptions of the learning environment with an deep approach of 84 students (96.6%) and using a surface approach of 3 students (3.4%). Students who have a good perception of the learning environment with deep approach of 118 students (92.9%) and using the surface approach of 9 students (7.1%). The data was statistically tested using Fisher exact test and p value is 0,368 (>0,05). The result there is no significant relationship between the perception of learning environment and learning approach among first year student at the Medical Faculty Lampung University.

Abstract

The growth of social media usage has increased almost 15 times, in line with the growth of internet usage in Indonesia in the last 10 years. Social media usage has a relationship with learning motivation, even though long duration of social media usage has impact on the decrease of learning motivation. Investigated relationship of social media usage duration with student learning motivation in class of 2015 Faculty of Medicine, the University of Lampung. Cross sectional design was applied in this research by taking primary data during period of August to September 2017, with the sample of 185 students class of 2015 Faculty of Medicine, the University of Lampung. Analysis model used was Chi-Square Analysis. Based on the statistic value of significant alpha more than 0,05, there was no relationship between social media usage duration and learning motivation. Moreover, the research result shows that learning motivation in term of intrinsic dimension was in low category with the amount of 55,14%. Beside this, leaning motivation in term of extrinsic motivation external regulation was in high category with the total amount of 56,76%. The duration of the use of social media has a positive relationship on student learning motivation because the duration of the use of social media by students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lampung class of 2015 is less than one hour per day and student learning motivation is in the aspect of extrinsic motivation of external regulation.

Abstract

Clinical reasoning is a complex set ideas of diagnosis decision making process that involves those experiences, skill, and reflective thought. Medical faculty students undergoing pre-clinical and clinical students should improve their clinical reasoning as early as possible, so it can produce good quality of medical students. This study aims to determine the difference of clinical reasoning score between pre-clinical and clinical medical students of Lampung University. This was a descriptive analytic study using cross sectional study. Sampling using non-probability sampling method with the type of consecutive sampling and measuring instruments in the form of script concordance test. Data analysis was done by independent T test. The research conducted on 124 respondents with independent test result shows the score of preclinical student with mean 4,927 ± 1.3727 and score of clinical students with mean 5,416 ± 1,6020 with p = 0,041. There are a significant difference clinical reasoning score between pre-clinical and clinical medical students of Lampung University. This study has a significant difference of clinical reasoning score between pre-clinical and clinical medical students of Lampung University. Clinical reasoning in students can be improved by increasing cognition and metacognition through learning self-regulation.

Abstract

Hair serves to protect the skin from bad influences, such as eyebrows that protect and prevent sweat that will flow to the eyes. While the nose hair functions as filtering the dust on the nose. Hair also has a role in protection against; adverse environment, including cold or hot temperatures, and ultraviolet light. Hair is not uncommon as confidence. Hair loss to cause baldness is a problem that is enough to worry about high self when they interact. Hair loss can be caused by many factors that are organized into endogenous: due to systemic disease, hormonal, nutritional status, intoxication, or a genetic disorder and exogenous factor in the form of stimulus from the environment and hair cosmetics. Today there are many studies of natural plants or herbal ingredients that can be used to treat hair loss. One of the plants that can grow hair is apple. Apples contain procyanin B-2 naturally found in apples. Apple extract is then made for hair tonic or cream proven to accelerate hair growth.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with characteristics of hyperglycemia occurs due to abnormalities of insulin secretion, insulin function, or both. Diabetes mellitus causes various kinds of complications, one of which is peripheral arterial disease (PAD). PAD is is a condition characterized by atherosclerotic occlusive disease of the lower extremities. The purpose of this study to knowing the relationship between the length of suffering type 2 diabetes mellitus and the incidence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Puskesmas Kedaton Kota Bandar Lampung. This research is correlative analytic with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted November 2017. The population in this study were all patients with DM type 2 who joined prolanis activities at Puskesmas Kedaton of Bandar Lampung city. The number of research samples are 40 respondents with consecutive sampling technique. This results has 17 male and 23 women respondents. The average duration of DM is 9.8 years. Respondents with normal were 52.5%, mild PAD 12.5%, moderate 32.5% and severe 2.5%. Spearman test results of both variables obtained p value of 0.001 and correlation value 0.651. The conclusion is there are relationship between length of suffering type 2 diabetes mellitus and the incidence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Puskesmas Kedaton of Bandar Lampung city.

Abstract

Ujian kompetensi merupakan ujian untuk menguji kompetensi seseorang yaitu pengetahuan, keterampilan dan afektif. Ujian kompetensi untuk kedokteran adalah Ujian Kompetensi Mahasiswa Program Profesi Dokter (UKMPPD). Ujian terdiri dari CBT (Computerized-Based Test) dan ujian Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). Ujian UKMPPDmempunyai dampak terhadap metode pendidikan kedokteran. Salah satunya adalah instansi pendidikan kedokteran menyiapkan mahasiswanya dalam dengan bimbingan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan pre experimental. Yaitu mahasiswa diberikan pre-tes dan postes serta nilai CBT UKMPPD. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari 2017. Populasi adalah mahasiswa yang akan mengikuti Ujian Kompetensi Mahasiswa Program Profesi Dokter (UKMPPD) Februari 2017. Populasi sebanyak 68 orang. Sampel yang didapat 66 orang yang akan mengikuti ujian Computer-Based Test (CBT) UKMPPD, 2 orang tidak memenuhi syarat. Bimbingan dengan metodelSmall Group Learning dalam bentuk diskusi dan membahas soal. Pada uji normalitas data didapatkan distribusi data pre-tes, pos-tes dan UKMPPD Nasional tidak normal yaitu nilai Kolmogorov-Smirnov p<0.05. Maka dilakukan uji Wilkoxon. Nilai rata-rata pre-tes mahasiswa didapatkan 57,90. Nilai rata-rata pos-tes adalah 59,66 dan nilai rata-rata UKMPPD Nasional adalah 64.81. Uji beda antara pre-tes dan pos-tes adalah p=0.010, nilai ini <0.05yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan nilai antara nilai pre-tes dan pos tes. Uji beda antara pre-tes dan UKMPPD Nasional didapatkan p=0.001, nilai ini <0.05 hal ini berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan. Uji beda antara nilai pos-tes dan nilai UKMPPD adalah p=0.00, <0.05, hal ini juga terdapat perbedaan yang sifnifikan. Abstract

Program Studi Pendidikan Dokter Fakultas Kedokteran Lampung menerapkan berbagai komponen penilaian untuk menentukan kelulusan mahasiswa dalam sutau blok. Komponen penilaian yang menjadi nilai akhir blok adalah nilai ujian Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), ujian lisan, ujian esai, praktikum dan nilai diskusi Problem-based Learning (PBL). Semua komponen tersebut merupakan penilaian terhadap kognitif mahasiswa. Hasil dari penilaian kognitif baik yang dinilai dengan MCQ, uian lisan, praktikum dan diskusi PBL hampir sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat korelasi hasil ujian MCQ, ujian lisan, ujian esai, praktikum dan diskusi PBL. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa angkatan 2014 yaitu semester empat sebanyak 232 orangmahasiswa. Sampel yang didapat adalah 230 mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Data penelitian ini merupakan data sekunder yaitu nilai Blok Hematoimunologi, Blok Obstetri Ginekologi dan Perinatologi serta Blok Genitourinaria. Nilai setiap blok terdiri dari ujian MCQ, ujian lisan, ujian esai, praktikum dan diskusi PBL. Semua data merupakan data numerik dan analisis dengan uji Spearman karena sebaran data tidak normal. Hasilnya didapatkan korelasi antara nilai MCQ denganujian lisan adalah 0.678 dengan sig. 0.000 (kuat). Korelasi nilai MCQ dengan nilai esai 0.765 dengan sig. 0.000 (kuat). Korelasi nilai MCQ dengan nilai praktikum 0.850 dengan sig.0.000 (kuat). Korelasi nilai diskusi PBL 0.441 dengan sig.0.000 (kuat). Simpulan :terdapat korelasi yang kuat antara nilai MCQ dengan nilia ujian lisan, ujian esai dan ujian praktikum. Sedangkan nilai diskusi PBL korelasi sedang. Abstract

Stres merupakan interaksi individu dengan lingkungan yang terdapat proses penyesuaian di dalamnya, seperti tuntutan pekerjaan maupun tekanan yang tidak selaras dengan pengetahuan dan kemampuan yang dimiliki. Mahasiswa tahap profesi mendapat tugas tambahan jaga dapat menyebabkan stres karena adanya tekanan tersebut. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan tingkat stres pada mahasiswa tahap profesi yang menjalani stase minor dengan tugas tambahan jaga dan tidak jaga di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung. Merupakan penelitian analitik komparatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Data diperoleh dengan membagikan kuesioner kepada 63 mahasiswa tahap profesi yang menjalani stase minor dengan tugas tambahan jaga dan 63 tidak jaga. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan simple random sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrument kuesioner MSSQ. Data dianalisis dengan Independent Sample T-test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat perbedaan tingkat stres yang signifikan antara mahasiswa tahap profesi yang menjalani stase minor dengan tugas tambahan jaga dan tidak jaga di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung dimana nilai kemaknaan untuk tingkat stres p=0,011 (p<0,05). Rerata skor mahasiswa tahap profesi yang menjalani stase minor dengan tugas tambahan jaga sebesar 1,80 lebih tinggi dibandingkan yang tidak jaga sebesar 1,47. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan tingkat stres yang signifikan antara mahasiswa tahap profesi yang menjalani stase minor dengan tugas tambahan jaga dan tidak jaga.Kata kunci: minor, MSSQ, stres, tahap profesi
