Abstract

This article examines the idea of Islamization of knowledge as a variant of the issue of integration between science and Islam, to view the possibility of engendering to new science not only scientific but also religious, which is not only religious but scientific at once. With the framework of the philosophy of science, this study will bring the issue of Islamization of science more than just ideas and discourse but must forge it as a scientific paradigm, which is the paradigm of Islamization of Science. Therefore, the scientific paradigm is examined in advance, before it can be used as a perspective in reading Islamization of Science and also functionalize it in generating new knowledge. There are at least nine fundamental elements of the paradigm that must rediscover their competence with Islamic sciences, ranging from basic assumptions, values, studied issues, models, main concepts, methods of research, methods of analysis, the result of analysis or theory, and representation/ethnography. The success of this study became a large contribution to the intellectual movement that focuses on the engender of new science-based Islam or called by Islamic sciences.

Abstract

The relativism problem –allegedly has become a frightening specter for a stable religious and social existence. Relativism which believes there is no absolute truth; the truth is relative, raises a problem by denying the existence of God's truth and declaring that human is the measure of all things. Even though human statements, when viewed from this review, also become very relatively charged. Therefore, an in-depth study of relativism and its implication for Islam must be investigated. This paper tried to provide a solution problem of relativism by using the worldview theory from Al-Attas, which can guide humans to know the direction and purpose of their behavior in viewing actual reality. The authors used a qualitative research method, collected data on the issues raised from various reading sources such as books and journals, and analyzed data using Al-Attas' theory. Critical analysis methods supported by solid historical reviews found that this understanding of relativism triggered other notions that deconstructed the truth claims of Islam as a complete religion and messed up fixed Sharia law 'śawābit'. Relativism is the root cause of multi-dimensional problems, especially religion and social issues. Therefore, the existence of an ideal moral measure that is universal is necessary and manifest.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah and NU are two of the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. Both of these organizations have significant mass and inter-related to each other. These organizations stand up long before the independence of Indonesia announced. Muhammadiyah itself was founded by Kyai Ahmad Dahlan and Nahdlatul Ulama Hasyim was initiated by Kyai Ash'ari. Sincerity and the struggle of its founder, who make this great organization can exist and be accepted by the community to this day. The organization is also a symbol of strength of the Islamic organizations in Indonesia. The two religious organizations also does little merit in the fight for Indonesia's independence. Although many of the negative view that menyasar him but did not make the harmony both fade. It is visible from their struggle in propagating dakwahnya in Indonesia with sincere and full of struggle. Da’wah movement not only focused in purification of belief but also plays a role in answering the problems that exist in society. By using the methods to critical review I tried to dig the closeness between the Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama which can not be disputed again.

Abstract

Humanism is a contemporary thought that is being imported by liberal thinkers into the Islamic world. This Western-originated notion is not without its problems; in fact, it comes with many problems. The main problem lies in how they conceptualise the relationship between God, humans and nature. They tend to see humans as the centre and measure of everything. The consequence of this is the alienation of God from the universe, the need for religion and the mainstreaming of humans over everything. If examined more deeply, the problem of humanism enters the area of worldview, namely how we see reality and truth. Therefore, with a critical analysis and supported by literature study, the researcher seeks to dissect the problem of humanism and compare it with how Islam conceptualises the problem.

Abstract

Today, humanity is facing the challenge of the authenticity of knowledge. Various efforts have been made to reach the point of truth. However, these efforts have yet to yield optimal results. Therefore, this study aims to address the problem of the search for truth. This study employs descriptive analysis to analyze the attaining of truth that humanity has conducted thus far from al-Zamakhshari's perspective. From this, it is found that modern humans excessively rely on human reason, which is purely empirical; moreover, reason ('aql) plays a role in critical thinking in revealing various phenomena. He also states that reason holds a significant function and role in the Islamic philosophical approach. He asserts that reason is an essential tool for comprehending Revelation and attaining truth: to comprehend the literal and deeper esoteric meaning of the Qur'anic verses and to employ it in interpreting the Qur'an. Al-Zamakhshari also believes that reason plays a crucial role in moral and spiritual life: to enable the differentiation between good and evil and guide individuals towards the right path. Thus, reason becomes a tool to attain the value of truth. Through reason, humans can comprehend the meaning of Revelation, both outwardly and inwardly. It is because truth is not merely physical but also metaphysical; thus, reason must be accompanied by Revelation to attain the meaning of truth. Consequently, reason is the instrument in moral and spiritual life.

Abstract

The issues of gender and feminism have recently resurfaced, seemingly as a response to the longstanding discrimination faced by modern women. However, instead of achieving justice and harmony in addressing gender problems, the imposition of gender equality ideology has given rise to new conflicts, particularly in the dynamics of male-female relationships within the family structure. This 'virus' has failed to bring peace and justice; rather, it has sparked various polemics that contribute to moral and value degradation. So how does Islam respond to the issue of gender equality? Using a qualitative approach and employing a library research method, this article aims to present the Islamic perspective on gender equality. Does gender difference always lead to harm, or can these differences actually foster harmony and completeness?

Abstract

Scientific problems are indeed an interesting issue to be researched. Moreover, seeing the development of science globally in the West is not based on God’s revelation and guidance. Although this knowledge can then produce technology that facilitates human life’s affairs, this convenience is accompanied by nature exploitation and destructive moral degradation. This Western view of life is certainly not compatible with the monotheistic Islamic point of view. Given the differences in seeing reality and truth, scientific studies need to be reconstructed and linked to religion as a form of applicative integrative method that does not place religion as a foreign matter in science. In response, Muslim scholars offered alternative ideas in a discourse on the integration of religion and science called the Islamization of contemporary science. With the critical analysis method, the authors sought to reveal the dimensions of Islamization that could touch the root of the science problem (epistemological) and answer the scientific development problems. Islamization is expected to be a universal framework that not only can be used by Muslims but also non-Muslims.
