Abstract

Compliance to always wear personal protective equipment is one of the important factors in reducing the number of work accidents. Factors that become the basis for compliance behavior in wearing personal protective equipment are very diverse, one of which is company regulations, supervision, worker knowledge, availability of personal protective equipment, rewards and punishments, and worker attitudes. Research at the Tuban Regency Health Center aims to analyze the dominant factors that influence the level of compliance with the use of PPE in rehabilitation and maintenance construction workers. Quantitative research using observational methods and cross-sectional design. The study population involved rehabilitation and maintenance construction workers of Puskesmas in Tuban Regency, with a sample of 53 workers selected using probability sampling technique with simple random sampling. The level of compliance with the use of PPE as the dependent variable while knowledge, attitude, peer encouragement, HSE inspection, reward, and punishment as independent variables. The instrument used a questionnaire. Data analysis using Multiple Logistic Regression statistical test with SPSS. The test results obtained ap value <0.05, with the attitude variable having the highest Exp(B) value (14.423) compared to other variables, meaning that there is an influence of knowledge, attitude, peer encouragement, reward and punishment on the level of compliance with the use of PPE, and attitude is the most dominant factor. The suggestion for improvement is for the workforce to be more open to the concept of safety culture in the workplace.

Abstract

Background: Workplace accidents in the industrial sector remain a critical issue requiring serious attention, particularly in fabrication workshop environments with high hazard potential. One of the primary contributing factors is unsafe action, defined as unsafe behaviors performed by workers, such as failure to use personal protective equipment (PPE), lack of discipline, and reduced focus during work. These behaviors increase the likelihood of injuries and workplace losses. This study aims to analyze the relationship between unsafe actions and workplace accidents at the Fabrication Workshop of PT. X. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The sample consisted of 96 respondents selected using simple random sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data analysis using the Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and an Odds Ratio of 9.625 (95% CI: 3.641–25.441), indicating a significant association between unsafe actions and workplace accidents. Workers engaging in unsafe behaviors are at higher risk of experiencing accidents compared to those demonstrating safe practices. Therefore, companies are recommended to strengthen occupational health and safety implementation through JSA evaluation, regular safety briefings, enhanced supervision of work behavior, and consistent application of reward and punishment systems to reduce accident risks.

Abstract

Background: Degenerative diseases such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia are the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the productive age group. These diseases often develop without clear initial symptoms, so many new cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Low worker awareness of the importance of regular health checks is one of the main factors that delay early detection, especially in the informal business sector. Method: The implementation of community service activities is in the form of discussions and direct practice. The subjects of the service are workers of UD Ridho Salsa in Gresik Regency. The screening includes measuring blood pressure, random blood sugar levels, and total cholesterol levels. The activity is complemented by health education and follow-up referrals for participants with abnormal test results. Data analysis is done descriptively and analytically. Result: Most of UD Ridho Salsa workers are categorized as hypertension, 70% workers, a small portion of UD Ridho Salsa workers are categorized as diabetes mellitus and cholesterol, 10% workers. Conclusion: Medical check-up at the workplace accompanied by education have proven effective as an effort to detect degenerative diseases early in workers. Integration of routine medical check-ups into occupational health programs is essential to prevent an increase in the burden of degenerative diseases in the future.
